  1. Now this is really sad. The irony here is that he who thinks that "discussion will be severely limited to a few people" just signed in on the official IPSC forum. I mean, why even bother if the sentiment is such.
  2. Sergio, John Toh was driving into Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when I last spoke with him early this week. If he hasn't replied yet, you may want to try him at number1@pacific.net.sg. Tell him Vince and Myro sent you. You'll definitely love John Toh and his merry band of shooters in Singapore- absolutely nuts about IPSC and a jolly bunch of chaps! As you may have seen on the DSAS website, they also do Sporting Clays. As an added bonus, you can easily hop over the causeway into Johor Bahru (Malaysia) where Tungu Jalil Osman (another IPSC nut) is known to hold good matches. Good luck on your move and if you ever find yourself in the Philippines, feel free to drop me a line. Best regards, Myro
  3. Philippine Retail Prices Beretta 92FS - U$900 CZ75/85 - U$850 CZPO1- n/a CZSPO1 (or SPO1 Tactical)- n/a Glock- U$825 HK USP- U$ 850 SIGP226- U$ 950 SIGP226 Sport (or X-Five)- n/a Shocking, huh? Note that we pay 30% taxes and duties on imported firearms.
  4. We definitely buy Myro drinks! Lots of drinks! A warm welcome to Rainman, who I recently met during our Level III match in Clark. Er, mate, your friend in Fairway has been asking about you..... Thanks Neil. I'm looking forward to getting together with old friends in Bali. I'm looking forward to atleast one night of excessive alcohol and partying with you guys. Chepit (sans underwear) and myself arrive Bali on Nov. 20 and have been tasked to do the "equipment check" on the Bintang Girls. So be good to us and maybe we'll introduce them to you. See you guys in Bali!
  5. Hi Jerome, We failed to test drive your product when we met in Manila because we were too busy sampling the.. er, local stuff. Anyway, one of my mates who shoots sporting clays with me is the biggest importer of wine in the Philippines. Let me know if you want me to hook you up with him. So are you planning to be in Bali? If so, that would be great and I'm looking forward to joining you in another sampling adventure.
  6. Hi Cor, Thought I'd share with you a very cool IPSC experience while transiting thru Schipol. I was on my way to Philippsburg, Germany to hook up with Vince Pinto and attend the Euro championship and IPSC GA 2001. I failed to notice that the visa issued to me by the German embassy in Manila had a typo error. It read "Valid from 20-08-01 until 19-08-01" (valid today to yesterday???). Naturally, the Immigration Officer at Passport Control called my attention to the visa error and asked to me please come into the office for verification. So there I was sitting with other guys with visa problems. Now, this was 7am Amsterdam time and 1 pm in Manila on a Saturday, even if they tried ringing the embassy, there would be nobody there to answer the phone. Anyway, I was already resigned to the fact that I'd at the very least be spending a very long time detained in Schipol. Worse, I'd be denied entry and fly back to Manila. After about 20 minutes, the Immigration guy came over and asked what my purpose of travelling to Germany was all about. I truthfully answered that I was to attend an IPSC meeting. His reply was "Ah, you're a sport shooter then"? I said reluctantly said yes, wondering if the rubber gloves would come next. After another 5 mins. The same officer came over again and started asking "About my Glock...." and it was clear to me that he was one of us. After talking shop for 10 minutes, he returned my passport saying that it was obviously a misprint and that I was free to go. I'd missed my connection by then but meeting a fellow IPSC shooter could not have happened at a more perfect time. I can't recall the name of the guy but this also shows how friendly the Dutch are when it comes to sport shooters coming through The Netherlands. And like I always say, I first came for the shooting, but it's the people you meet in IPSC that made me stay. Myro
  7. Only about a hundred times since yesterday. It really is a great phone when I'm able to pry it off the hands of Mrs. Mini-Me.
  8. ..... and Mini-Me gets to screen them all for Dr. Evil
  9. Hi Guys, In the 5 years I've travelled on account of IPSC related business (often with Vince), I've been to 2 World Shoots, 5 Continental Championships (Level IV) and countless Level III's around the world.... all without firing a single round of ammunition. And I had the best time of my life in all cases! All I can say is that I'm happy to have made friends for life all over the world. You really have to get out sometime to experience what camaraderie and fellowship is all about. DVC
  10. Luca, Il mio amico, vi auguro un buon compleanno. Potete avere molto da venire. Riguardi migliori, Myro
  11. Hi Bro', Just thought I'd remind you that your scheduled "golf game" at CLUB PARADISE. Tee-off is anytime after dinner. It's right across Hard Rock Hotel. The specialty "gun shop" is located half-way between The Strip and Fremont. It's behind the Love Chapel or something. If you see the bright red neon sign that says XXX, you've gone too far. It's the one with the blue neon. Have fun!!! Oh, and try not to feed the goats this time around. You do remember what happened the last time..... Sorry folks, Vince has a bad sense of direction hence this post. I normally navigate for him but I regretably have to stay home this time.
  12. Hi Guys, The IPSC Australasia Championship 2004 website is now available but is still work in progress. They expect it to be fully operational by February. Check back often for the latest information What I can tell you is that the match will have 24 Handgun Stages and 16 Shotgun Stages, running back-to-back. This means that you can shoot BOTH matches if you want. This, plus the superb hospitality of IPSC Indonesia and the mystical allure of the island of Bali, makes the Australasia Championship a match worth considering for December 2004. Lino, for shooters coming from PHI, contact the PPSA for more information on how to get a slot for either HG or SG. Best Regards to everybody!
  13. Hi Guys! Happy New Year to all! Compared to IPSC Handgun, IPSC shotgun in the Phiippines is considered a minority. We get about 100+ guys in our Nationals and we charge U$50 (sometimes less) for a 10 stage match. With Bali hosting the Australasia Shotgun Match (16 stages) in conjunction with the Level IV Australasia Handgun championship next year, we expect to draw more shooters to smooth bore. Believe me guys, you will not want to miss this event scheduled for early December of 2004.
  14. Hi James, I could also use some of the pictures you've got on the ESC2003. Shame on me for always leaving my camera at the hotel while we were in Italy. Thanks.
  15. Hi Travis, I'm not sure what your question is about the M1S90, but I hope this helps. From my experience, I would think that the type of sight that would best suit IPSC Shotgun would depend mainly on the shooter and his particular shooting technique/style. Personally, I use a Benelli M1S90 with a 24" barrel (unported) with a rib and bead set-up. I'm using a Hi-Viz sight which works well in picking up targets faster. This is my Modified Division gun. Some say that a ghost ring aperture or rifle sights work better with slug rounds at longer distance. However, since we shoot very little slug in this part of the woods, I can't give you an accurate account. I also own a Benelli M1S90 with a standard 18.5"bbls that comes with rifle sights, which serves as my Limited gun (called Standard in the 2004 rules). To be honest, I can't say one sight type is better than the other. As with most things, I would suppose that some xperimentation on your part will eventually lead to what's best for you.
