  1. Mine weren't making it up, into the ejection port area but lying on the carrier. Bump the charging/bolt handle or the carrier and they'd go in. First time it was mag spring, second time it was the oversized bolt release button preventing the release lever from getting out of the way of the carrier. It would drag just enough to slow it down. If you haven't changed anything lately, I'd vote for the mag spring. Benny Hill advises only Benelli, factory recoil springs.

  2. Alright, you QLS users. I got two sets and the fork is too big to mount on the back of a blade tech holster without some really creative drilling. Also, the back plate holes aren't anywhere close to matching the ELS belt. I did get the plate on using the molle strap that came with it, but that seems to defeat the idea of not covering up the velcro with attachment "things". Are there more than one QLS systems? And if so, what is the Safariland number? Thanks.

  3. We have a farm supply store nearby that has nylon strap in rolls and bins of the plastic hardware. Made a cheap carry sling for my hunting shotgun for about $8 and have enough stuff left over that would make a couple more if I don't put it someplace safe and never find it again. All you'll need is the swivels.

  4. Mark Otto's are nice and light, he makes great stuff. Another to consider are the AP custom. Their 3x3 and 4x4 hold 6 and 8 in two layers. That keeps them from getting so long that they dig into your groin on the lower end or my fat belly on the top. Alamo shooter is right, get the good stuff right away. I can't imagine a bandolear being any good for 3-gun - too much movement. Try talking to some other shooters at your first or next match. See what they like and if you can, try their gear out. Just make sure to clear whatever you do with the RO.

  5. Some shotgun shell makers manufacture loads called "spreaders". The pattern opens up sooner. No idea how they do it but I'd guess the wad is different. After watching Benny demo some at Rockcastle, I bought a case of Fiocchi spreader loads. Really good on those stationary clays that are up close and capable of taking down a popper at 15 yards.

  6. Safariland ELS. Lets you swap gear if you run into an all shotgun stage, or something else weird. Outside attachment set up doesn't cover the velcro so more grabs the inner belt. Only problem I've seen is that if your waist is between holes, it can be tough to get the pegs in a pair of holes. I pulled a bit tighter and finally got it engaged. I don't like the Safari Keeper, too hard to move along the belt. Used the CR keepers to make sure everything stays together.

  7. Just used PRI mags this weekend on my Bison 6.8, worked fine. I put 4 rounds in a .223 mag and they fed fine too. Nice upper, 3/4" at 100 yds with Remington factory 115 gr ammo. Rang a USPSA classic-style steel target regualarly at 500 yds from mono-pod prone. I have a C-Products steel and it fed 4 just fine, but haven't tried a full mag, fast, from either.

  8. Amen Puma! Must be the moderators that don't let Enos forums deteriorate into name calling and bashing. Once people learned that, the trolls don't bother. Plus, everyone here is a shooter, not a keyboard kommando. They really do want to help grow the shooting sports. Others may have more volume, when I want serious answers, I come to Enos. Thanks to Brian, his moderators and all posters.

  9. scopes are really a very personal thing and I'd recommend trying to shoot other peoples guns with different optics on them to see what you like. I have a borrowed Swaro and it is a wonderful scope. The glass is so clear and crisp. But, don't know if I'll end up buying it or not, that's a whole lot of money. But damn, when you look through it, you're amazed. I shot my last stage of Benning 2010 virtually in the dark. At 200 yds I couldn't see the red plates with my eye. I could see them through the Swaro.

  10. I used a borrowed 4x4 at Ozark last year on that 40+ round shotgun stage. I didn't even notice that it was different than my 6 rounder. Worked fine and even with my little hands I was able to grab the back row - and I only grab 3 at a time. Haven't tried the load 2, I like my Mark Otto vest with 24 rounds on it, loading weak hand.

  11. Make sure you buy the ELS-KIT1-2. It comes with 2 plates, 2 forks, screws and the T-nuts you need. I originally just bought the back plates. they come with screws, no t-nuts. I'd buy 4 or 5 of the Kits and some extra forks. You can put the forks on most pouches, holsters etc using the screws supplied and some ingenuity. They replace Tec-Loc stuff easily. Might want to have some 8-32 screws, nuts and washers from the hardware store, be prepared to get creative and you'll be fine. Overlap in the back as others have said. I'm just getting mine set up, I'm going to try my CR Speed keepers for a little extra security but not sure if they'll reach around the bigger ELS belt. Oh yeah, don't be dumb like me, t-nuts go on the plate, screws go through the belt.

  12. Mine never locked things up completely, but it would leave a round on the carrier and the chamber empty. I just had to bump the bolt handle or hit the lifter and it would chamber. The oversize button was bumping the frame and causing the "lever" to drag on the carrier. Relieving the back of the OS button cured it.

  13. I have trouble with eye relief/head position with the variables, love the Swaro I've been able to borrow, but I have to lift my head off the stock when prone and the gun waves around and I can't see the reticle. If I can figure that out, I'd use it again. I've gone back to the EOTech, and am shooting in Tac Iron/Limited. I'm still in the bottom 25%, now I'm finishing 20th instead of 120th. The EOTech has a 1 minute dot that doesn't cover long range targets. I can see the reticle easily, no matter how awkward the position. I've hit 300 yd targets and missed 75s, with magnification and without. If you want to shoot Tac Optic, get the best 1-4/6 you can afford. With the switch levers I don't think you need the extra irons. If you want to shoot Tac Iron, I don't think you can do any better than the EOTech.

  14. HELP! I'm trying to set up some to show our new products team that we need to carry the ELS. I got the attachment kits with the T-nuts and screws but the screw head holding the plate to the belt seems to bind on the fork. Am I doing something wrong? I trimmed the screw heads, that worked. Used some regular 8-32 screws (smaller OD and thickness) and that worked. Dremelled a bit on the fork, that seemed to help. Seems like you should just be able to use their parts without modification. I should be able to figure this out but I'm stumped.

  15. I use an EOTech for tac iron and think it's the way to go. The 1 minute dot doesn't obscure the long range targets and you can make it plenty bright to stand out in the brightest sunlight. As others have said, take two or three at the long ones, move on and learn to reload your shotgun. My biggest problem is figuring out a loading plan for the long shotgun stages, and then remembering it after the timer beeps. Biggest thing is don't get tempted to take that extra shot at a farther target that you originally planned to shoot from another location. If you miss you have to make it up and load more. Shotgun kills you in 3-Gun, and can help you if you do it right. Guess I better do some loading practice tonight...
