  1. Anyone get the "no home switch found" error on the Rev3? How do you fix that?
  2. Sounds exactly right. Tube is 140mm .40. Holds 18. Baseplate is black with a star shaped insert that goes into a hole in the center of the baseplate, don't know if that is stock or what. Wide45, I hear you on the change before the match, point well taken. I had changed the springs on half my mags, and left the rest with the old springs, just in case. Of course I did not find out until it was too late.... I looked at the Arredondo website and found some inserts however they were not for the .40. Anyone have a link or connection to the proper fix part? Thanks!
  3. I just bought an Arredondo 10% replacement magazine spring 5 pack for STI. Installed the springs direct the night before a match today, and had FTF on nearly all of them. The springs twisted in the mag about halfway through, and I had to dissassemble the mag to get them out. It was stacked over each coil and came out looking like it was tied in a knot. A more experienced shooter pointed out that I should have run the springs up and down a piece of bar stock to train spring "memory" prior to initial installation, which never crossed my mind. I do not feel comfortable using them again. My question is can this be fixed after the fact, or do I toss them and get new springs?
  4. OK took Crusher's advise and searched spring stacking and it does sound like the culprit. I would have assumed that the purchase of a custom gun for an ungodly price with no mags would have taken into account the use of the proper spring length... I scratch my head on that one but its spilt milk at this point. So now I intend to replace the bushing and the spring - which is opening another set of problems for me - I did find the method of measuring stacking problems and cutting down the spring a coil or two - not the kind of work I feel comfortable with but will live and learn and see what happens. Can anyone recommed a quality spring that may just be the proper length, or real close out of the bag or is it on a gun to gun tune your own basis? From what I have read this spring stacking occurs after a certain amount of rounds, not like the first 100 or anything, and I have put a few thousand rounds through this - does this mean I have been stacking since day 1? I shudder to think.....
  5. Thanks MPeltier, I figured it was something like that... now, if I have run a shock buffer in this thing all along, and have shot probable 3-5k rounds froughly, would it have already broken, and would a new shock buff give prior to a metal bushing? I am still under the impression it was not lubed and locked up on the barrel on recoil or something- however if you have not yet determined it by my posts, I have very little working knowledge of how/why it would happen, I am just isolating the things that have occurred on every occasion prior to this, and the only thing that has changed was the total lack of lube on the bushing.... is this a potential culprit for the breakage? Once again, thank you for your input.
  6. Thanks guys for the help.... I do not know what spring stack is if anybody wanted to fill me in - I do use a shock buffer and installed a new one recently. I will contact Briley as suggested just to see what they think. Hopefully I can get some resolve. Thanks again to all !
  7. The gun was made in the late 90s by Fred Craig and has worked flawlessly with the proper ammo - I have taken a bit of a hiatus - got married, had a kid, ect... so it has been dormant for a while until this season - I believe the cause was lack of lube - I did clean the gun as usual but this last time I did not lube the bushing - the last couple of matches I felt I overlubed for our sandy environment so thought I would try less. So I do believe the problem was user error - it is common to lube this piece, correct? I don't think Craig Custom is still around and I don't plan on looking for Briley to do anything I really just want to shoot again without having to wait for a gunsmith to get around to lathe work or fit something they don't normally do...
  8. Thanks guys for the info - so, with the drop in at .698 and being "loose", is the accuracy/utility of the pistol GREATLY diminished due to this consideration, or conversly, is the fitted .703 "tight" GREATLY improve accuracy? Bottom line is to have someone install the fitted in my area will be quoteds at 10 days and will take 3 months, I am certain. If it is something I can do myself (not skilled at gunsmithing) I would like to go fitted and keep it as tight as possible. However, if I have to go to machining school and actually utilize a lathe (never have) I feel I would be better off finishing the season with a drop in and perhaps (propable not) send it off for custom work over the winter... In terms of accuracy I need all the help I can get - but I am no grandmaster or anything and often times happy just hitting the target, so if there is no layman noticeable loss of accuracy I would not know the difference between .698 and .702 and would just be stoked to drop in something that works and call it good. I don't however want to take a custom gun and turn it into a run of the mill over a $60 piece. Thanks again for your input.
  9. I will get some pics straight away and show you ... .give me a couple of minutes... I just finished a stage and showed clear, when I noticed the slide went back really slow... I went to the safe area to check it out for dirt or something and the bushing was sticking out about 1/4 inch past the guide rod....
  10. Thanks Larry for the fast response - I am still a bit confused - a .501 bushing? It was my impression that going .001 over barrel size would fit and was thinking the difference between "drop in" and "oversize" was how it fit to the slide - the one I broke appears to have been fitted (light grind/lathe marks) on the outside circumference of the bushing, under where the front sight sits. I am not sure what the fitting should be, and thought drop in would be my best option, but do not want to compromise the accuracy/function of the gun by trying to fit something I should just drop in. Thanks again!
  11. Hi all new guy here - had a match today and I broke the Briley spherical barrel bushing on my craig custom sti 2011. Looking to replace and measured .580 barrel, so I was going to get the .581 bushing. Now there is an option for "drop in" or "oversize" - I sure would like to drop in a replacement and wanted to get some feedback on how this effects accuracy? Not sure if I am ready to leave with a gunsmith for months to custom fit, but would give it a try myself on an oversize - I saw the mandrel tool - any tips would help, especially the tip of "don't try it" if it is tough - thanks in advance for any help that will get me back in action.
