  1. Andy, Have you tried swapping the stock shims for the one that provides the lowest drop at the comb? I have mine dropped at much as possible and still need to push my head down as much as possible to keep slugs on target. If that doesn't work, you may need the 'jig' that TTI and several other shops have. The gentleman Benelli expert that designed the jig is on this forum. Dave
  2. It's either a M2.5 or M3 thread pitch. McMaster Carr sells them.....I bought a small bag. Let me see if I can find them and can mail you one.
  3. It's a pain in the arse but it is possible to cut the stock, fit a block of wood and attach a new pad. Didn't have a belt sander and pad jig so it ain't so pretty.
  4. Contact Chad at http://www.jabuie.com/ionbond.html I just sent him a STI frame, SVI grip, and some small parts for DLC after fitting.
  5. It was great shooting with you guys on Squad 3 and hope going back across the border will be easier than coming here. Squad 3 video is here: See you next year! [/url]20160716_AT7V3850A_v1 by Dave, on Flickr
  6. SLR makes some great rails. Started with the Solo Ultralite 15" and 16.5" for my 16" and 18" uppers respectively. Recently swapped them out for the the 15" and 16" Helix b/c they just looked so fast! Even got a Helix for the Glock PCC built too! I'll probably sell the Ultralite hand guards, when I get around to it. 15" Solo Ultralite: 15" Helix: Untitled by Dave, on Flickr 16" Helix: Untitled b y Dave, on Flickr 6.7" Helix:
  7. Nice pic! Is that the carbon steel grip or stainless? I'm looking to swap out the plastic DVC grip for a SVI metal grip.
  8. I may be wrong, but the longer body of the 18 rnd mag may be needed to clear the magwell. That CZ Custom magwell sure makes loading a breeze.
  9. Been using a Safariland drop leg holster with various ALS/GLS retention holsters on a QLS fork/plate. It's been cut to ride high and only uses a single strap. Rides at the same height as any other holster I have on an Invictus hanger. I actually wear it (and any other holster on a hanger) on a thick Uncle Mike's inner belt, which minimizes torque on the hips. For run and gun 3 gun stuff, the drop leg panel actually makes carrying a heavy pistol much more comfortable and also minimizes discomfort and pistol bounce while on the move. 45 lbs of weight loss and 6" off the pant size has left me with bony tender hips.
  10. Mike, just changed my registration to Factory - looking forward to the cookies! Based on what I've read, Factory pistol is 15+1 to start and 15 rnd reloads only? Will I need to shorten my shotgun tube down to 8+1 or can I use my 10+1 tube and just make sure I never have more than 8 in the tube?
  11. Mike, How far out will the longest shot be? Already signed up but debating if I can shoot this with 1x.
  12. Safariland GLS (Grip Locking system) Pro Fit: http://www.safariland.com/holster-systems/gls-holster-system/?gclid=Cj0KEQiAq920BRC8-efn57XrotYBEiQAlVlMQ0ddauNgnCPEhnbkTgHALFKaxpNEgD5qUm5dyXhwaTcaAikq8P8HAQ comes in 4 sizes to fit MANY guns. firearm is retained by a cam that 'locks' the trigger guard. when you go to draw the firearm, assuming your normal grip will cause the cam to unlock and open by the upward pressure of your middle finger. the first page of the manual has a fit guide: http://demandware.edgesuite.net/aaqv_prd/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-tsg-Library/default/dwfa4650b9/product-pdfs/holsters/Safariland_578_Pro-Fit_Fit%20Guide_Owners_Manual%20030215.pdf Since it was going to wear a QLS fork, I bought the holster without any regard for the belt attachement. the body of the holster doesn't feel as robust as the material used in their ALS duty holsters, but for the price, it's a great deal.
  13. Hey Andy, I managed to get a STI DVC (full length dust cover) to work in a Safariland 6304-56-131. Required a little heating and opening around the trigger guard. Also works nicely in their GLS holster. Secure and remarkably fast on the draw. Both have QLS forks (GLS needed a kydex spacer to change holster height) and you can check them for fit before buying one. If the weather is okay this Saturday, I'll be at Heidelberg. Dave
  14. If your arms are long enough, a thicker pad = longer LOP, will have your cheek rest farther down the comb, effectively dropping your POI....not a lot, but maybe just enough. Alternatively, you could look for a taller/bigger front sight. How much drop are you looking for?
  15. Dean, What color are the t-shirts going to be this (2016) year? I vote for a nice navy blue or a dark grey!
  16. Pat just made me a set of big butts on JM grips. Matches the feel of all my other guns, just has a butt for going prone. Didn't realize Hogue could make a single custom grip on request....do you have a photo of your JM Grip with the Big Butt?
  17. How do the Hogue Big Butts (smooth, no finger grooves) compare in size, shape and feel to the Bang Miculek grips? Tried many grips and settled with the Bang grips as they have worked the best for me, but wouldn't mind having the same/similar feel with a big butt on the end. Appreciate any feedback. Dave
  18. A bladetech WRS retention holster can be modded to work with a CZ cocked and locked as well as hammer down/safety engaged: the holster can also be modded to work with a Safariland QLS fork if you're a gun swapper and like to use a different pistol for every match.
  19. North Mountain IDPA moon clip caddy user here....... Finally caved and went the 'inner/outer' competition belt route and adapted the NM IDPA caddies (ditched the tek-lok) with ELS forks in keeping with the '3-gun to wheelgun and anything in between' one belt for everything philosophy: However, I do like J. Austin's moonclip server 2.0 version with the plastic spacer shims to keep the rounds from overlapping.
  20. Put together a limited class 'lightweight' 16" build using the Stretch 16" (.223 Wylde) melonited barrel. With Freedom Munitions (new) 55gr .223, the Ohler 35P calculated the following: AVG = 2825 fps STD = 21 (25 shots) Same ammo in a 18" JP .223 Wylde: (tested a few months ago) AVG = 2874 fps STD = 17 (29 shots) Surprisingly, only a difference of about 50 fps b/t the 16" and 18" barrel. Both uppers have a JP LMOS bolt carrier group, SLR adjustable GB, SJC Titan brake and were shot using the same lower which has a JP silent captured spring setup, I think with the 90% spring. The Stretch 16" with a tuned GB and LMOS guts shoots appreciably softer than an off the shelf 16" carbine setup.
  21. Thank you NHRPC, Topton and all the match sponsors! Looking forward to next year's match series! Lots of guns on the prize table! Happy faces! Husbands & Wives.... Fathers & Sons.... and Mothers & Daughters....
