  1. Yes I am turning it off when it is not in use. It just starting working fine. It has been behaving itself for the last few days. fingers are crossed.
  2. I am having a recurring issue with my 3XL. Sometimes it does not want to turn on, Sometimes it does not want to turn off. There are times when I can not adjust the brightness. It just gets stuck. When is is working as designed I love the sight. But I was at a match on the weekend and it took me a dozen tries and 10 minutes to turn it on. At the end of the day, it would not turn off. Six hours later it finally let me turn it off. Has anybody else run into these issues? Thanks for your assistance with this.
  3. As mentioned before, my load is: 124 gr Berry Triple Plate Round Nose OAL 1.160 7.9 Gr of Silhouette Small pistol magnum Shot the provincial championships over the weekend and the average for this load was 1400 FPS. Flat shooting shot, soft, very accurate. The gun I am shooting it in has a 5.5" Schuemann barrel, with a four port comp.

  7. I have got four years on my 9 major, 60K+ rounds, all 170+PF. Still running strong. if the gun is built properly and you do your part feeding it the right ammunition, the slide should not break!!
  8. There are number of factors involved, primarily how well the gun is fitted. I have fired 60,000 rounds on my 9mm major open gun. All 170+ power factor loads. I am going to wear the barrel out before I break the slide. In 26 years of IPSC, I have only cracked one slide, that was a caspian, and they replaced it under warranty. That was 20 years ago. I currently use STI or SVI slides. I have not had any cracking issues on them. If the gun is built right it should not break.
  9. My load that I use for 9 major is: OAL 1.170 8.8 Gr of 3n38 124 RND Berry Bullet CCI or Winchester SMP Power Factor is 172+ I typically load ammo the week before the match. All match ammo is barrel checked, and for the bigger events I verify the overall length. My 1050 has .005 of variation for overall length. So the overall length will vary from 1.165 yo 1.170. So I did some different this year. I loaded up a lot of ammo in advance. One batch of 100 round was load this summer for the Nationals. It was verified that all round were at or under 1.170. So this weekend I went to use this ammo to test a new gun. Some rounds would not chamber, they were too long. so I started checking all of the remaining ammo and found the following length: 1.178 1.183 1.184 1.197 1.185 1.194 1.185 3n38 is a compress load, I never realized that over time it could cause the round to expand. Has anyone ever experienced this? I am going back to my old method and load one or two weeks prior to the match. Just curious if anyone has ever run into this. DVC
  10. with the above recipe use 20 Volume Hydrogen Peroxide. Note: Do not use this on a blued comp. It will take the finish off.

    Cape magwell

Yes they are still being made. Dave from Cape Custom is the designer of this magwell. They can be purchased from speedshooters. He is in the process of getting another batch manufactured.
  12. The load I use for 9 Major is: 8.8 gr of 3n38 1.170 OAL 124 RN Berry SPM Winchester Primers. I have a 5.5 Schuemann Barrel, 4 port comp. This load make 170 PF in my gun. HS6 is a good powder. I prefer 3n38 because it cleaner and develops more gas to make the comp work better. Good luck.
  13. I tried all of the powders for 9mm Major, and the following is the best load that I found for my equipment: 124 gr RN Berry OAL 1.170 8.8 gr 3n38 Gives me an average speed of 1370 FPS over six rounds for a 170PF I run a Schuemann 5.5" Barrel with a four port full profile compensator. Good luck
  14. Cheely set back is the way to go. Very strong mount, and it is a great price.
  15. I changed calibers, to 9Major, a couple of years ago. Everyone was telling me what you could only shoot the brass once. So I did a test. I took 100 rounds, and used it at the start of every practice, collect the brass, and then reloaded it. I reloaded it 13 times, before I started seeing problem, IE: loose primer pockets, split cases. The gun I was shooting was new, and had a schuemann barrel. I do not know if this is typical, but if a barrel is fitted properly the brass will last long time. Typical, I use 9mm brass two times in practice, and when I shoot a match I leave it on the ground. DVC
  16. Been running a 10lb recoil spring on my SVI for years with no issue. It is a full weight slide. Have gad no issues with it. If you like the feel, keep running it. Mark
  17. What mill are you using? I looking to purchase a unit. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Mark
  18. My favourite powder for 9 major is 3N38. I use: 8.8 gr with a Berry 124 gr bullet. OAL is 1.170. This get me a speed of 1390 fps. This powder is very consistent, and is not temperature sensitive. DVC Mark
  19. In my neck of the wood, BC Canada, Where it can rain for 30+ days non-stop, we use target hats. They are placed on the top of the lathe, then we lean the targets forward. We change targets frequently, usually every two squads. We never use bags, because it makes shooting, scoring and patching awkward. DVC
  20. Freedom Ventures. Talk to Sean, he is the distributor for cmore Kim Canada. DVC
  21. I have been using small pistol magnum primers for years, in my open, limited and production guns. Absolutely no issues. One bonus for using smp is that I get faster speeds out of my firearms. DVC
  22. I use GunButter. Great product!! Works in all weather conditions.
  23. The concoction that I use to help my joints is: Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM and vitamin c (time release) The vitamin c is important, I found that it made the others work better. Good luck. Mark
  24. "Does 3N38 heat the gun up like crazy the way 3N37 does? " Depending on the volume that you shoot, any firearm will heat up.....No have not noticed any issues like this. I also use Longshot, my practice load is 7.4gr, OAL 1,160, 124gr Berry RND, 1350FPS. Load is very clean, and LOUD!!, One issue that I had with this powder is that it varies speeds between lots. I moved to 3n38 for match loads, for better consistency, and more gas volume to make the comp function better. DVC
  25. Hello everyone, For match loads I am currently using: 3n38 8.8 grains 1.170 OAL Berry rnd 124gr 1400fps Excellent load very clean and not temperature sensitive. Give it a try. Mark
