So first..I am the idiot. Second, I though I would save a little time and money by doing a little work myself. So I got the drill and bits and set to opening up the gas ports on my Remington 1100 barrel. Got one side done, then broke 3 drill bits in a row on the second, and cant even see the opening any more. Not sure if the barrel is shot or not, but it is going to cost me either way.
Maybe it was my subconscious guiding me me to get a new shotgun. Worst of all there is a three gun match tomorrow.
man am I stupid.

Cha-lee hit the nail on the head. I want 23 rounds. I can run 20 in my sig 226, but like shooting the tanfo much more. I am not really liking the idea of minor 40, as it is just as costly as major, so I might just stick with major. I suck so it is not going to make that much of a difference.
What is the highest capacity without jams? If I could get 20 consistently, I would take it to be able to shoot my favorite guns.
Thanks guys

I am aware of that there is not a 40 frame. My question was not really what slide to get, but the fit and what really needs to be done to get it competition ready. I figure on a front fiber optic, but what is the rear sight like..etc.
I am not looking for a slide to plink with but to use. So I am looking specific feed back on getting it ready. I should have been more clear.

So the deal is I want to be able to shoot my Match or Limited in 3 gun, outlaw matches only so no power factor to worry about. Is there anyone that has bought a conversion to go on top of their 40 frame? If I do it I am going with the longslide with super sight. I have read some on it, but a a little gun shy of doing it.
Money is an issue, so new gun is not an option, and I like the trigger on the 2 I have.
I only load major 40, and dont want to tweak my set up to load minor.
I have a stock pile of 9mm components, too.
9mm loaded with Henning mags, I can load to 22-23 which gets me through most pistol stages.
So anyone running it, or possibly some experience with another conversion?

I will talk with Sheldon this weekend about other folks getting in on the raffle to help support the family. I will update this thread if we come to a conclusion.

First answer... if you got the money why not buy good glass. It takes all kinds to participate in our sports. I look back and wish I had bought a step or three up in my glass. Fish eye and loss of the reticle have cost me a ton in matches, not that it was the difference in finishing where I did and the top 100, but it screws with my competitive nature.
Second Answer... is that those shooters may have been gaming a particular stage and a particular match with a certain set of rules. I recently read a thread where there was a 500 yd target and the penalty was only a miss(+10 IIRC). The point of the thread was is it better to take the the time and try to hit the target or move on after one shot. From a scoring perspective for that target in that match, it was better to put a shot on it and move on. If the topic of the thread was a 500 yd shot with a 30 second penalty, I bet they would have a different response.

there is a guy on the forum that is starting to produce them. not sure who it is exactly(markco maybe), but they are in the dealer section. I think there was a thread about in line shot shell holders.

I saw Mark Otto running something similar at the Texas Mulitgun. I think he said it was German? I would assume that he will be making them.
-
They should be the old ones(stamped with tanfoglio only) just in 10mm.

I have used all three in my Tanfoglio's(Match/Limited) as well as my STI Trojan. They are all loaded to about 1.18, with titegroup. I generally use the CMJ, but currently I am shooting JHP due to my error while ordering.
I dont think I noticed any more smoke between the cmj/fmj, nor can I comment on the accuracy of the JHP vs the others. But that is what "they" usually bring up as reasons to go one way or the other.
try to post that you want to try some I am sure you will get some people willing to ship you a few to test out.

I didnt see a CZ at the TXMGC, may have missed one. I did see some 930s/M2/FN/Remingtons. I worked stage 1(all shot gun), so I saw quite a few shotguns. On my stage it was mostly failures to eject the spent shell.
I tried to talked to most the guys running the 930s to see how they like it and how it was running. No one really mentioned any hiccups at the match, but that doesnt mean it didnt happen.

apples and oranges..from the Match to the stock/Limited Pro. Only upgrade for the Match is the Limited, which the big difference is magwell and full dust cover. off course there are some more.
What are you planning to do with the gun? If you want a production gun, I heard the Stock II is a great gun.

Not yet. I tried slamming it forward by hand a few times, but it did not budge. Next, I am trying to find some rubber to be able to hit it. I thought I had a rubber mallet, but cant locate it.

FWIW, it's an hour from the Austin airport to the range only if you haul a$$ around the tollway or go way outside rush hour.
Since I already scored a stash , Austin Gun Liquidators just SE of I-35 & 45 has Remington reduced recoil slugs in stock.
I just bought the last two boxes on the shelf. He said he could get more though. You may want to give him a call if you are looking for them.

Anyone have trouble getting the slide off a Limited? I thought I knew how, just pull the slide stop out and it should go to the front. I have no issues with the Match, but the limited is hard as heck. Thoughts?
I had a similar problem a while back and found the issue was the guide rod where it seats inside the frame. With constant recoil it had peened the frame a little where it sits which I then had to lightly file back the raised peened area.
Once you have done that it should slide off easy. In the end I got one of Hennings Conefit Guide Rods and haven't had any issue since. There is a write up about this on his website.
Any tips for getting it off to be able to do the fitting?

I post/read this forum, as it was here first. The separate forum came later, after I got used to coming here looking for information. Fact is that most of us are running Henning products, so it just makes since to post questions/issues here.
I have checked the other forum out looking for information. I wanted information on a 9mm conversion.

Edna is great to deal with. Be sure to ask for her. If you are ordering a turkey barrel without ports don't bother talking with anyone else. I am way stoked to have a factory 24" non-ported barrel. 180.00 including shipping took 3 weeks.
My 930 was a 28" waterfowl model, now I have a backup 28" ported barrel for whenever I want to shoot clays with buddies or if I ever wanted to go open.
Has anyone asked about swapping barrels to a non ported? I called today and the first person had no idea, but said that she would ask a supervisor and if I called back she would have an answer. When I called back i got a guy, Rick x531, that said it was no problem to get the 24 non ported or to swap it at no charge as long as it was not used.

can anyone send me a link of the couplers that let you mate 2 pmags together end to end giving you a 60 round mag? I can't remember the name of the company who makes em
http://www.californiacompetitionworks.com/. Under AR 15 accessories. I use the nordic 47 rounder just fine.

With my Match I had nose dives/stove pipes with the factory mags and was solved with long ammo. It may have been that model, not sure what the differences are between the two. Loading to 1.18 did the trick.
Edit to add: to determine my issue I ordered from precision delta. They had/have an evaluation pack that allowed me to identify the issue and then get my reloading setup going.

I only want about 25 seconds back, as I didn't watch the hole thing.
Not sure where you got that from but I hope it was put on and not real. I couldn't imagine being in the same room with that.

I just got home from a match, sit down to enjoy some mind numbing tv, and the dreaded 3 blinking lights on the tv. It is a Samsung that I have had for a while, and it would appear that the bulb has given up. That is not really the bad part. It is after normal business hours on a weekend and Monday is a holiday. So no delivery until Tuesday at the earliest. Then the darn bulb is $100. Guess I will take the wife to a movie tommorrow.
Oh well, the last one lasted 5 years so I shouldn't complain.

Either system will not be good playing games wirelessly. You will have lag which is not good on fps. Also if you have kids the xbox is more family oriented. Where as the ps3 is more for adults. And free to play online. Its free cause ps3 is a better company and not for the fact that no one is on, unless you think 638000 is not alot of people , because that's how many were playing blackops on ps3 last night. Microsoft controls enough as it is...and who doesn't want a free blu ray player...lol
I do not agree with this at all. I play through the wireless connection on my xbox all the time, as well as most of my friends. No issues at all. The only time I heard of an issue is when someone didn't have their networked locked and the neighborhood was using their network. The PS3 network is almost unsupported as I understand it, from users, and cheating is more rampant.
Microsft is the devil, I will agree to that. A free bulray player is not the reason to get the gaming console, but more games and better online play are. New blu-Ray players are not that expensive.
And 600k is not that many when 1.8 million were online when I was playing black ops Sunday. All about the xbox here.

I have a similar situation. Current gun is broke down(1100 older though). Now researching what to do next. My budget won't allow the Benny or Salient Benelli. I could swing a benelli but no real work just the bare bones.
I like the idea of the 930 worked up. Read in a different thread that the 930 with upgrades would be about the same as just the Benelli. SLP is on my short list if it runs right out of the box like i have read. Seem like they are available for just about 1k.
Problem I have with spending the money on a custom gun is because I am mediocre at best. So I really don't see 1500 or more going into a gun that I shoot 1 time a month.
Touch call... That is why I thought the 1100 on the cheap side was the way to go. Lots to think about. Good luck with your search.

Mark, Thanks for those kinds words. They picked my spirits right up!
I may need to move this to the what I like forum soon. My wife agreed to let me spring for a new gun, or at least agreed to an amount for a new to me gun.
