  1. Hey all, Gunner here. I just bought my 24/7 Pro yesterday in 9mm and I was reading on the forums last night that it is not a legal gun in the Production division of USPSA but it is legal in IPSC. I don't understand why it is legal for IPSC but not USPSA considering USPSA is just the United States portion of IPSC. Can someone please shed some light on this for me? Gunner :popcorn1:
  2. Thanks All, You all have really helped me with the understanding of this, and on the Outdoor Channel last night, I think it was on Guns and Ammo TV, Todd Jarrett and Rob Leatham talked about this exact topic and seeing it actually visually really helped reinforce it in my mind. I think I have a really good grasp on this now. Thanks again u all, Ruger_Newbie
  3. I have shot archery since I was 16 which was almost 10 years ago. I have shot only compounds with a variety of different sights on them. My thoughts and observations on it as far as archery goes I tend to focus on the target and my shot placement, but yet i don't lose consciousness of that front sight, but since I started shooting my pistol 2 weeks ago I've noticed that I have more focus on aligning the front sight of my Ruger than I have actually on the target itself. I hope that helped somewhat. Ruger_Newbie
  4. Hi all, I'm not really sure this is the right forum to be posting this in so if it isn't I'm sorry. As I've been reading around on the forums here I've been hearing a lot about Classifiers, but I don't really understand what one is, how it relates to me, and stuff like that. If anyone can lend me some assistance on this I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Ruger_Newbie
  5. 03.03.2008 Hi all, This being the initial post in my diary here I really don't know what to say, but here it goes. I'm a newbie to the sport picking up my first handgun 2 weeks ago. I love it so far the people at my local range are excellent and a lot of the guys that shoot there I'm going to be shooting with at local USPSA matches in Area 8. We have an action shoot every 1st and 3rd Monday night of the month and I shot through the stage 6 different times last night each time improving upon the time before. I started out with my first run being at 73.84 seconds with a lot of C and D hits with some Alphas in there from time 2 time to my last run of the night coming in at 57.74 seconds with 12 Alphas, 3 C and 1 D hits. I am going to be starting to focus my attention on dryfiring here and my goal is to dryfire 3 hours/week and spend 2 hours/week at my local range shooting along with the action shoot when i can afford to do so. Any Suggestions on some dry-fire drills that i should work on to help me improve my game would be appreciated also I am going to list my gear and I would appreciate any advice u guys could give me on that as well. I want to thank you all in advance for any assistance and advice that u can offer me. Firearm: Ruger P95DC Ammo: Wolf 115gr FMJ Magazines: 2 10-round and 2 15-round Blackhawk Dual mag pouch and tactical duty belt Holster: Uncle Mikes Belt holster 2 100 Round ammo boxes Eye and Ear Protection Thanks, Ruger_Newbie
  6. Hi all, I have a question. Which is more important shooting production accuracy or speed? I'm a new shooter and I trust my accuracy but I know my speed isn't there yet. Any ideas on how I can build my speed up without sacrificing accuracy? Thanks, Ruger_Newbie

  8. Hi All, I'm new to the sport and was just wondering what some realistic goals for myself might be. I'm going to be shooting in Area 8 of USPSA in the production division with my Ruger P95 9mm. Ruger_Newbie
  9. Welcome to another newbie Good luck and most of all have fun and keep it safe Ruger_Newbie

  11. From one Newbie to another. Listen to the guys on here they know their stuff. Especially Bart and Flex. I just purchased my first handgun 2 weeks ago and am really enjoying shooting. I am shooting in an action shoot at the local range I shoot at tomorrow night and I plan on shooting with my local club in Area 8 this year. But the best tip that I could ever give someone is to have fun and enjoy yourself bc when that happens it doesn't matter if u shoot bad or shoot the run of ur life if ur having fun u'll keep on doing it. 12. Hi all, I am 25 years old and have been shooting since I was 11 years old and just a few months ago I got the chance to shoot my brother's Walther P22 and got hooked into the crazy and chaotic world we know of pistols. I have watched the various competitions on tv over the years and decided to give action shooting a chance. I went to my local range and started talking with the owner and a few of the people there and they helped me out a lot, they seemed very knowledgable, and very trustworthy and down to earth people. I ended up purchasing a Ruger P95DC 9mm pistol that was used. I got a great deal on it. It came with a Blackhawk duty belt, double mag pouch, holster, and the 2 10 round mags that came with the gun and 2 15 round mags all for $300 plus tax and fees, u know got to pay Uncle Sam and the evil Ed Rendell his portion lol. Well the gun is great I love it. I have put over 300 rounds through it in a weeks time. The range offers classes for beginners and also private instruction. I decided that with my busy work schedule the private instruction was the way for me to go and I am going for my first session tomorrow. The range has their own action shoots the 1st and 3rd Monday night of every month and I get to shoot that for the first time on March 3rd. Also one of the neat things is that the Sportsmans Club I belong to the person who runs the USPSA portion is also one of the employees at the pistol range helping the owner out part time. The club is having a new shooters orientation on the 29th of march and i get to shoot my first match on the next day. I can't wait I plan on using my Ruger to shoot in the production division. My question is this: Is there any advice u could give a new shooter on shooting the action matches and any modifications that i could do to my Ruger to make it a little more competitive, within the legal boundaries of the rules of course. Any help would be appreciated and I would like to thank you all for the help in advance. I have learned so much just by surfing through the forum here. Ruger_Newbie out
  13. I know its dirty ammo and I have 2 clean my Ruger P95DC more often with it, but I shoot Wolf 115gr FMJ out of my Ruger. And since my sister works at the local Gander Mountain and I can get her discount on it I pick it up for 7.99/box + tax so I get it for like 8.47/box when u look at everything else about $12.00 or more a box.
