  1. Are you referring to the filler piece that sits where a manual safety sits?

Not essential, but does keep out lint or whatever. Just call up S&W customer service and tell them which side is missing. Took care of me when I lost one.

  2. Just remembered that I changed the followers in my older m&p mags last year, to the newest version, as the older version would sometimes hang up on the slide lock tab.

Compare the mag follower that is in the problem mag to a known good one and see if the follower is hanging up and interfering w dropping free.

  3. Resurrecting an older thread as I noticed the dot jumping to the left just a bit while dry firing, even when pushing the slide closed prior to actual trigger press. This seems to have gone away when I switched to the Medium/Large backstrap from the Medium backstrap the 2.0 Compact typically wears. Will try it live fire and see if POI changes and more importantly if my accuracy and times improve w the larger backstrap.

  4. FWIW,  there are places that build up the lifter in front so that they no longer bite the finger that shoves new rounds into the mag tube. Glad Jerry got Mossberg to get the factory to design one that starts that way.

A lot of the 940 changes over the 930 are clearly based on Oregon 3Gun after market parts for the 930. Hope Mossberg pays them royalty fees.

  5. Am surprised as that has not been my experience with both 3 1.0s and 1 2.0 M&Ps.

Why not take a fired case, resize just enough to snugly hold the bullet you are using for reloads, and insert into barrel (out of the slide) till the base is flush with hood of barrel, barrel point up. Push out round and measure. If grossly short, consider using a different profile bullet or reaming chamber. Nitrided barrel is really hard but Memphis Mechanic on this site has done this for members in past.

  6. Probably on a glock forum,  but I would not recommend trying to install the complete G21 recoil spring assembly in your M&P. If you know the spring weight you are currently using buy the G21 equivalent and install on the M&P guide rod. OEM spring is held in place by a machine screw. As long as internal spring diameter is greater than M&P guide rod diameter, it's an easy swap. You can measure the M&P guide rod diameter and ask spring manufacturer for inside spring diameter.

  7. Don't have your particular pistol but had a similar experience w my 4" m&p 2.0 compact. Wanted to try out different weights of recoil springs, not much of a selection available for the compact, but lots available for another 4" pistol, G19. Guide rods for both are close in length and the springs for G19 fit perfectly on the compact guide rod.

The G21 has a 4.6" barrel so guide rod should be very close in length to yours. Cheap experiment to see if G21 springs fit your OEM guide rod.

  8. Have a 550 as well. Had to play w wire spring position so case is trapped w slight pressure, yet shell plate cane rotate without interference from spring. Shell plate can be the cause, if it has play

Fine balance in adjusting the center pivot bolt. Went w an aftermarket roller bearing washer, but that is overkill.

  9. Can't speak about Timney or Overwatch, but have an Apex metal curved forward set in my carry/IDPA 2.0 Compact. Crisp 3.5 lbs trigger pull. With the very light weight pre travel, the actual break is not a surprise, so feel comfortable as a carry trigger.
