  1. Interesting discussion. I just put a Venek classic in my Gen 4 17 and went with the 4.5 lb spring and several light strikes with magtech ammo first try. I put the 5 lb spring in and Ill be trying that soon... hopefully that will fix it. I can be having light strikes.
  2. Filled up real fast.... planned on waiting... glad I didn't. Seems like they had a smallish number of slots this year?
  3. Harvard does put on a heck of a match, great bunch of guys there! Hopefully I will be able to hit the match this year!
  4. Hi, What style is the high noon holster. I'm interested.

  5. Great match! harvard really puts on a sweet match all the time. This was a must shoot. Nice job and thanks to Dan and all the guys and gals at the match and who helped out. I especially loved that stage the Maine boys put together
  6. Well I'll chime in also. I have been shooting for about 18 months and this was my first (OF MANY ) Major matches and I loved it! I got certified as an RO this spring and was very impressed to see a professional group of RO's putting the training to use. I drove down from Maine for the match as did several others. I'd go back in a second. Very professional, all the staff were class all the way. I was amazed at how quickly things moved along and 12 satges felt like they took about as much time as 5-6 back home. I shot Sat am with a mixed squad, my self and another guy from Maine, I enjoyed meeting the guys we shot with, also a class bunch. I was especially impressed with Greg from RI. Classy guy, very serious, I enjoyed watching him shoot and he put up a pretty respectable showing in production. A big thanks to all the staff and sponsors! I can't wait to shoot my next Area match! Lots of trainning for me to prep for next year! Shaun

    Mag Care

With the price of mags now I want to prolong the life of my mags. Ive been shooting almost 1.5 years with my mags. They are getting a little grainy feeling and I had a FTF yesterday, that I am pretty sure is on the mag. My thoughts are take um apart and wash them out let them dry and put them back together..... do they need any lube etc? My mag springs still feel ok, but are they ready to be changed out yet? Followers???? Thanks Shaun
  9. I hear ya...keep her happy so she will let you come out and shoot
  10. Just shoot it stock...you need no more advantages over me! Get the Vanek! and it was only like 225....worth every penny...(perhapse someday my scores will reflect that statement!) Shaun
  11. What is this FP-10 grease stuff and where can you find it?
  12. That is a bummer, I was looking forward to attending. Now I have no reason to go to PA to visit my sister She will be disappointed! Any chance this could change? Probbly not bu I have to ask
  13. I guess I need some clarity also, I shoot l-10 with my Glock, but all my mags are 15 rd capicty, I doubt I will be buying 15 new mags........ Hmmmmm
  14. Ill be there! Looking forward to it. Im way to new at this to know anything about the old matches, but I'm sure it will be a great match. I would bet there will be several others comming down from Maine. Shaun
  15. I'm looking forward to the match also. This will be my second big match of the season, only my second season of shooting. I'm hooked, love it. Can't wait to shoot this match. Going to bring the wife and kiddo and make a mini vacation out of it!

    Budget barrel

I was just having a similar discussion the other day at the range (We shot a match in 6 inches of snow and bellow 0 windchill temps ) and I was Told KKM barels tend to be tight and that may not be good for reloading.... not sure as I am new, but I need/want a new barel and would like the input prior to making the buy....

    Vanek Custom

I have the GM kit in my g35, man is it sweet. Every one who has dry fired it now has trigger envy..... I wish I was able to shoot it to the cabability the gun now has!!!!! Shaun
  18. Dawson mag well does not sit flush, neither does and SJC. Looks like I will have to take some meat off. Don't want to but looks like I will need to.
  19. I'm in next year, looking forward to it. Just started shooting so this will likely be my second major match if all goes well. I keep hearing great things! Although you may need a psychiarst....keep us informed on the plans for 09 Shaun
  20. Congrats, Inspirational! I'm hopeing to make C next weekend with mine we wil see. Shaun
  21. "If you haven't, buy a timer, Brian's book, Steve Anderson dryfire drill book and Burkett's DVD's 1-4. Start shooting a lot of matches. Be safe! Have fun." Have all that stuff "I'd add all that gear in on the gun in phases. If something fails, you will know it failed after adding "part X"." Good point! If you're shooting factory ammo a 17# stock recoil spring might be a good idea IMO. You think 15 may be a little light? This is one of many things I know nothing about??? "Did you get yourself an extd. mag release button ?" My understanding is the 35 mag release button is a bit larger than usual already? I don't seem to have much trouble hitting it as it is now, but I may look into that? "Mag exts. are good even for L-10. I personally like the Arredondos the best. " Really???? I'm hopeful the ones I bought will be ok, they add length, but not capacity and are cheaper that the ones that add capacity. As usual thanks guys! Shaun
  22. I know I should stop messing around and simply learn to shoot well, however I have accepted the fact that I like to play, and like to beef things up a bit.... So, as of today I have either ordered or have the following mods for my 35. True grip Dawson Ice mag well Tungsten Guide rod 15 lb recoil spring (Not sure if I shoudl go lighter?) Warren Sevigny rear and Dawson FO front sights Drop in Vannek Grand Master trigger kit, this includes fireing pin, etc. +0 mag extensions. Is there anything else i should do? I'm currently shooting (trying to shoot) Limited 10, may want to shoot limited at some poing and know I will need mag extensions. Shaun
  23. No Doubt.... I've tried... she is not biteing, yet, but I have not given up! I'm just trying to get her to come watch a match, then I could have a fighting chance!
  24. I like the looks of the Brazo's guns, better start saving my nickels and dimes My wife is going to leave me :)
  25. As soon as I logged off last night it dawned on me that I was asking the question wrong as I know that a limited gun and an open gun are two diffirent things and it would be unreasonable to try to make one be the other...Duhhhhh. I actually think I could really fancy up my glock to make it a good solid limited gun. I have put new sights on it and grip tape, thats about it. Soon to add the tungston guide rod and I am looking at sending it to Vannek for his fitted trigger job.... So I guess my question is do I want a top end limited gun or an open gun..... ???? I'm not sure I want to shoot open, at least not soon....I guess I just like guns and want another one "Guys like Dan Bedell, Benny Hill and Howard Smith are turning out some really neat guns along these lines." Do these guys have web sites? Do you buy the guns from them or buy else where and send them to them for tuning???? Thanks guys this is what I am looking for for info! Shaun
