  1. didn't work the image url!!!!
  2. I frequent a local indoor gun range where everyone leaves their shinny once fired brass laying all over the floor, then it becomes mine! its a mixed bag, but mostly WIN since thats what they sell for the range shooters. Its free and its mine! plus I follow the shooters at our fun match at my club, brass heaven! I'll use any brand.
  3. Your suppose to keep track? I have a constent river of mixed brass flowing thorugh my 34. I just inspect and load and shoot, if a case looks suspect at all it goes in the recycle bucket, otherwise it gets loaded. I do notice a difference in primer seating between different brass brands, so in that sense Winchester is my favorite. But when my loading day is done my tray is a full mix of manufactures.
  4. Thanks Guys, really appreciate your help. I have learned so much on these forums with the help of members like you, it's really a great to have this deep pool of knowledge to swim in!!
  5. Reading some other post about brass and it makes me question my understanding of brass identification. How do you know a case is swagged primer pocket? anyone have a picture?
  6. I had a number of bullets that I needed to pull for various reasons. My question is after having seated bullet can it be reused? they appear to be in good condition other than the markings from previous crimp. can they be reused or should I just toss them in the recycle bin?
  7. I just picked up a Kimber stainless II in 9mm, LOVE IT
  8. .1568 not sure PETA would approve .....lol
  9. I have had a couple of poor reloads for what ever reason ,where I could not reuse the case but I had set a live primer into it already. I was told not to try and remove a live primer and to fill the case with WD-40. I would assume the WD-40 soaks the active ingredient in the primer and renders it inactive. Would this be the correct method of disposal. Of course I throw them in a coffee can filled with old motor oil and let them soak for a couple of days before I poor it all down the storm drain. just kidding !! about the storm drain, not the WD40. Thanks for all your help cheers
  10. Thanks Grumpy, I'll check that out. Shot the last of my 4.2 tonight at an outdoor range, very strange to find all the spent cases at my feet also shot first loads at 4.6 but I should have shot them last not first; to get a better idea of how they felt. Back to the loader to whip up another batch =Thanks again Cheers
  11. Thank you all for your help. Got the new scale last night, spent about 3 hours just powder feeding brass and pouring it into the Lee scale, taking measurment and then setting on new scale. spot on! took awhile to trust what I was seeing. Thanks again, cheers!
  12. My vote if I may, is for the Glock 34. Thats just me, I have shoot Sigs and S&W and always come back to my "blocky gripped to big for my hand Glock 34". If production is really the division you want to shoot. there is no reason to deal with the .40 when everyone shoots for minor score, now if you want to shoot Limited or L10 then the 35 or one of the many fine production guns listed in the rule book will do fine for any of the three divisions PRD - L - L10 Cheers Oh' wait im sorry I live in California I dont get as many choices as most of you. but I think I would still be shooting the 34 if I did.
  13. Thanks wobbly, I have returned the scale, I am waiting on the delivery of a new scale, I bought the i201 like in Brians store. After reading reviews, warranty info and specs, I think its a good comprimise between quality and cost. In my research I found scales from $23.95 all the way to $8000.00 which I figured was a bit much but it is accurate to 0.00001 of a grain. So you get what you pay for. cheers Shot my 5.0grain loads last night, bit more kick then the 4.2 load but not by much , Waiting on chrony so I can get a idea of PF i'm thinking about 4.6 - 4.8 would be about right, but maybe if I use a different powder; change my OAL, use cci primers instead of Federal ............ ya I can see how this becomes a hobby in itself.
  14. Other then being a little more difficult to insert the primer , I have had no issues at all reloading my S&B brass. So if you want to pm me "race" we could make some type of arrangement for that brass you have laying around.
  15. Thanks Erik, I'll keep that trick in mind, all my cases are used, the S&B case primer pockets are super tight, so much so that I can now tell; after loading about three hundred which are S&B just by the why the handle feels pushing forward for the primer insert stroke. thanks again for your time and sharing your knowledge.
  16. Thank you everyone for your help, I returned the electronic scale, I calibrated the scale again with it's suppied check weight. It says pass on the display. I then set a 115gr bullet pulled from a WWB bullet and set it on the scale 186gr was the displayed weight , I removed the weight, calibrated again 186gr well its off but its consitent. I then placed one of my 124gr bullets from my bullet tray, 200gr. So I have a RMA # and that is going back. Thanks again for all the help, awesome forum we have going on here! I will heed the advise of all and spend a little more money on the tools needed, I was thinking i could save some money as i was only reloading in one caliber, but when your dealing with weights of 4 to 6 grains sensitvity as well as consitency is; as I now know the most important consideration.
  17. lost a computer monitor, shooting the Matt Burkett USPSA target on his website, oh............. dryfire means no bullet now you tell me!!!!
  18. I have been shooting the Pistol_training.com website "Dot Torture" targets for a few months, my week hand shooting has improved for sure but everything needs some help, lol...... Todd Green explained to me that the test on his site is set at 50 shots, and a passing score is 50/50 in the circles, once you are able to complete this either shoot for time or move it further out.... to challange yourself. oh ya, I shoot it at three yards , and follow the shooting instructions, my best so far is 46/50,of course most are far worse. The "Pistol_training.com" targets use a 2" circle. there are a number of great training drills and printable targets on the Pistol_Training.com website.
  19. Thanks Jack, I will do that as soon a I get home. funny; its the simple ideas that wake you up in the middle of the night. I was planning on going over to Bass Pro shops today to purchase a different electronic scale, I think you just saved me 40 bucks! thanks again.
  20. Hey Kevin, Thanks I have done the calibration procedure, and the reason I believe the beam scale is correct is the way the bullets shoot they are so much softer then my factory ammo, but I will verify scales before I load any thing else. The electronic scale I purchased is from E arthur brown co, and from the picture it looks exactly like the one Brian offers on his site.
  21. Thanks jack I will do that, both scales are new , i will put a new battery in the electronic scale before i try again. thank you for your concern it is appreciated. and Shooter , i just started talking about what i was doing, she wont be back!
  22. Thanks Jack, Yes attention you must pay, or pay the price i guess you could say The primer issue takes some experience for sure, i had no idea the primer was the issue until it would not eject from the press, i also loaded another hundred today and found 5 with no primer???? I dont remember any difference in feel, but attention you must pay !! I have one of those electronic scales like in Brian's store it tells me my load weighs 6.7 grains but my Lee safety scales says 4.2 +/- 1 I think I have to believe the balance beam.........and return my electronic scale, Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and experience with me. have a great day!!!
