  1. ^^^this for sure. If I want to workout, I go to the gym. I don't need to run a 5K, wear a plate carrier and all that other stuff when I shoot a match. If you want to take it easy, shoot IDPA, if you want a lot more movement, shoot USPSA.
  2. The one exception (in Texas) is the signage businesses use to keep licensed carry holders from carrying on their premises, does not apply to off duty or even retired cops. Of course this has nothing to do with USPSA/IDPA rules. Just the law.
  3. I bought a semi-fit one for a P320 last year. I had to send it back because the chamber was too tight, even for factory 9mm ammo. It's a little sloppy now, but it feeds everything.
  4. I've been a cop for 32 years, and I'd never heard of that till this thread.
  5. On duty to watch and hang out, no. If they are getting to shoot the match while on duty, yes.
  6. You are very fortunate to live so close to Mission160 and the XMG range.
  7. Welcome!! But I don't think we are hick enough to be the Yee Haw State. I'm guessing you were not born here.....
  8. Call Youngeyes and run it by him first. I'm sure it's fine, but he knows his stuff and has helped me a lot.
  9. I will add that castle doctrine does apply to actual law.....just not the rules of the sport.
  10. As they shouldn't. There is no magical force field around the range's parking lot. It's not practical to stop on the street just outside of the parking lot to square your carry gun away. It's common sense to park and secure your gun inside of the vehicle or go inside and have the RO/SO unload you. Let's remember than 3gunners do all kinds of gun handling at their vehicles with no rule issues.
  11. Exactly. In fact you better be armed running around in this crazy world. Expecting competitive shooters to roll to a match unarmed is just unrealistic. For IDPA matches lately, I've been driving to the match with my match gun unloaded and holstered with two loaded mags on my belt. Just to keep me from leaving a gun in the truck to be stolen. I go home the same way.
  12. So, I'm clearly not an expert at the rules. But, if you pull up to a match with a gun on your hip, inside your car, it's nobody's business when you take it off and place it in your door pocket or console. You all know this happens hundreds of times a week.
  13. I tried it for a few weeks. The zero recoil, wrong grip and non adjustable dot brightness quickly turned it into a game for me. I'm not saying there isn't some value to it, but I think it's more productive to use your real gun/gear and dry fire. It motivated me to get the dryfire King ap on youtube which I think it pretty awesome. On the bright side, my 10 year old loves the goggles, so it wasn't a total waste of money.
  14. We have shooters show up all the time who ask to be cleared down range. No biggie and I'm glad they are carrying.
  15. I doubt it. We don't have any of those in DFW that I know of.
  16. I've been shooting with Ken since 2010 or so. He is a great guy, but can come off as a grumpy turd at times, but it's an act. I think he will do a great job.
  17. I obviously misread the rules then.....
  18. LOL, I'm shooting my first ever PCSL match tomorrow and I'm looking forward to the 2 hits anywhere scoring.....
  19. 2 quarter turns of the adjustment screw turned my RF100 from a total POS into the best piece of equipment on my bench. I was just too scared/dumb to do it years ago.
  20. I've loaded a total off 3k since I adjusted the screw and haven't had a single upside down primer since. Between the Rf100 working and using preprocessed brass, this reloading thing has gotten pretty easy and enjoyable. Oh, and I found a source where I can get 125 grain Hornady HAPs for 11 cent a piece.
  21. I used to really worry about a powder check station before I got my bullet feeder. Now, I have a extra light set up where I can see into the case to check powder level, but 99% of the time I stare at the round to make sure it's in the correct position before the bullet gets seated. In many thousands of rounds, there has never been an empty or over filled case. Unless something breaks or I run our of powder, I don't think it will ever be an issue.
