I actually have not gotten back in the darn thing since last summer. I really perfer my Truck. I had several sports cars when I was younger, I'm over it. This is my husbands first sports car, other than he isn't bald... he pretty much fits the above description. He'll be lookin to trade me in for 2 20's soon!

I am sitting here in Vegas today, it's cool, it's wet, and the first match of the season was cancelled, so to cheer myself up I thought I'd post something funny from my blog...Summer 2007 Ya know I understand my husbands need to have a sports car. Everyone knows he bought a 1990 ZR1 Corvette prior to his cancer/kidney surgery. I supported the idea, even encouraged him to spend double his original estimate, and smiled kindly when he actually spent over triple the amount on a car he purchased on ebay, sight unseen, that only needed a "bit" of work. I only made a small eyebrow lift when he returned in a record 6 hours from New Mexico to Las Vegas with the car. Someone get a pilots license? I now get to go 90 mph to the In & Out Burger two blocks from our house. Must we "clean out the motor" every time we start the engine? I understand need to have the wind blowing in his graying hair as he aimlessly chases the last vestiges of his long spent youth. The call of the open road, driving as fast as you dare, or can afford.... But good LORD do I really have to ride in a car that is 900 degrees? First, we must ride with the windows down. Hello, it's Vegas, in August!! The windows are not tinted, (no one could see the cool person driving the car). So why do they need to be down? Today it is a plesant 106 in Las Vegas. The only thing that kept my hair from spontaneously combusting under the removable glass roof was the rare 60% humidity. Grant it, it was a short ride to the store, but between the wind and the moisture, my hair pretty much looked like it had been combed with an egg beater when we reached our destination 4 blocks away. Imagine the surprise on my face when I find out, the groceries must be in my lap on the way back. One of the little things that needs to be fixed... the hatch no longer pops up. So after I lay down on the ground and roll into the car... I pile the refreshing cool milk and frozen food in my lap hoping for some comfort from the black interior leather seats that have seared my butt cheeks with 3rd degree burns. So my husband took pity on me and rolled up the windows, and turned on the air.... did I say air? My Grandma made a bigger breeze passing gas! Who knew a simple trip to the store could be so complicated? When I arrived home I had asphalt embedded in my knees from getting in/out of the car, Gilda Radnor styled hair think "Roseanna Roseanna Danna", sweat from the milk jug rolling down my thigh, and groceries on my lap. I must say owning a sports car again makes me feel so young and sexy. I'm so glad we have a Corvette, it's going to be so much fun!!!

The set up: So for my husbands birthday, we have a small suprise party. His boss is making him Vice President of Paper Clips I guess. (Same job, new title) Anyway, my 11 year old son has a "thing" for the bosses wife. A very christian, very nice, woman. The OMG from the mouth of babes moment: I ask my son to bring a drink to the bosses wife who is standing in the kitchen with the rest of the office staff. My son noticeing the steam coming from the drink... Raised his eyebrows and in his best voice says: You'll notice your drink is steaming hot, just like you look tonight! HERE'S the kicker... She reply's "OH do I look flushed? I don't feel hot! " We were howling the rest of the night.

yep, today. I don't care too much for vegas living. everything is so ass backwards. I'm no vendor, sponsored shooter, MFG, or dealer so I guess I'll go shoot the match. I may just win if no one shows up I am going to show up and your still going to win... I think those of us who have been walking the show should get a handicap... my feet are killing me!

I have the advantage to living in Las Vegas, so I will be stopping in most days. We have an IPSC match Sunday morning, so I may not be around Sunday. If anyone needs suggestions on where to shoot or what to eat give me a shout.

Hey I was wondering who is coming to the Shot Show? I will be around as an attendee. Got my backpack for all the free stuff, new tennis shoes walking and a bottle of Motrin for when my feet a killing me.

I think I am going to put it in a poster frame, title it "Service with a smile" and hang it behind my desk.

On very rare occasions my husband will go shooting with me and today was one of those occasions. So I started just shooting groups at 15 yards and ended up with this great smiley face! His friend who was shooting with us was really impressed... he said, Did you shoot that on purpose?" Of course I replyed! Ha!!! It's all a happy accident, except I doubt my husband will shoot with me again any time soon.

Well like I said, my friend ran the entire stage (the star + four targets) in 12.3.. He says "wait for a good site picture and squeeze the trigger" ok well he's been shooting for 16 years, has a sponsor, bla bla bla... he is so quick, just watching him shoot brings a tear to everyones eye. The best advise is don't chase the target wait for it to come to you. From shooting the blue plate at 6 o'clock, I moved to 3 then to 9 and waited for the target. It obviously worked. That is pretty much what they told me on the range and I have read the same. So anyway the times ranged from 12.3 to me at 48. There were a few 30's, but mostly 20's.

Ya the star was on the "fun" stage. Where is the fun in that??? They painted the bottom point blue, you had to shoot the blue first, instead of starting at the top. I told the match director he was a stinker for making us shoot the bottom first. He was rather proud of himself!

Ya all need to come to Vegas and shoot .... burrrrr. It was a chilly 39 at the range this morning, warmed up to 50 something at the end of the day. Really perfect weather. I'll be whineing in August when it's 130 in the shade. Blaaaa!

I am having a great time. I shot my first steel match today. I did okay. I was really tripping over the texas star, but I managed the star and four targets in 48 seconds. I am thrilled with the time. Of course, my friend shot it in 12. For a first try I am just glad I didn't have to use all 6 mags!

I gotta say I'm sorta in the same boat... Being really really new to the sport, I am still trying to figure out how the heck to use my new 100 dollar stopwatch! I am glad you asked the question, because timer operation was going to be my next post. I was playing with the timer late last night, I scared the gibblets out the dog!

Hey New Guy- I am one of the New Girls... Everyone here is really great! It's sort of like the Magic 8 Ball, only better! Just ask a question and shake your computer... ta da!!!! Answers from IPSC heaven. Welcome.

Their parent (or designated adult with paperwork from guardian designating them temp guardianship while shooting) will have to be present too while they shoot. I am new to THIS shooting sport; however I have for several years been working with Jrs. & Sub Jr. Shooters in the CMP & NRA. In our club you don't even get to shoot pistols bench rest (much less run with them) until you have achieved marksman 1st class with a rifle. As for Safety instruction, all shooters take an initial 1 1/2 hour safety instruction course the first time out. The kids who shoot pistol take the 8 hr pistol course, 2 hrs on Saturdays once a month, then they shoot "AFTER" class. No class, no shoot. We don't have to reinvent the wheel for pistol training, just tweak it a bit. We always have a safety briefing (10 minutes), all shooters must attend before they can shoot. We do have forms for hold harmless; we also have notarized forms signed by parents for emergency medical treatment. Until 2006 or 2007 ROTC/CMP/NRA junior shooting sports had been accident free. They had three incidents as I recall. One shotgun coach was shot by a jr. shooter, one kid who walked down a LIVE range to get a target and bent over into the joining lane to pick up a piece of paper he was shot, and one parent in a training class let loose an air rifle round, in the classroom. To that point because of the caution taken by coaches and strict guidelines no reported incidents had occurred in the history of the program. 1. I really feel that parents MUST stay on the range with their kids. Our club will let parents drop kids off. If it were my call - NO WAY... Parents gotta stay. 2. The RO should spend a few minutes with the kid. I have no problem putting a pistol in the hands of my 13 year old to run a course, but I would NOT and do not give my 12 year old a pistol with being right on top of him. It's just scary! 3. The RO should have the final say if the kids are going to be allowed to shoot. 4. Jr. Shooters (15 & under) should or MUST be accompanied by at least one parent or coach while on the range wearing a firearm. For everyone's protection and general sanity! As a parent of a Jr. shooter I want him to try as many different shooting environments as possible. We wanted to shoot Palma last year, but they were uncomfortable with Scooters age. You have to respect that. (Even though I think they were secretly afraid he would out shoot them) Who me? A stage mother... naa. When he was 9 we tried to get into the local Jr. shotgun club... they slapped a gun in his hands, he shot 3 rounds, they declared him to small, told us to keep the t-shirt and come back in a year. What ya gonna do. The bottom line is either you can handle the firearm safely or not at all. As a side note I aksed my son what he thinks about kids shooting 22's for IPSC, his responce was "Kids could shoot 22's until they are 12 or 13 then NORMALY kids start shooting 9mm anyway. Normaly? Now that's funny!

heidit, If he is that great a brother ask him to buy you an Open gun! Then you can join the rest of us on the "dark side". Ya know if I busted my butt working this season and I asked him, he would buy me one. One more reason to practice!

Oh thanks Chris... I will be at home depot later buying pvc. I have my backyard set up to shoot archery, so I am thinking I just may have to tweak it a bit to practice USPSA. I actually already have barrels and stuff. Can anyone give me the dimentions for a target stand? Possibly the perferd gage of steel? I think 3 Foot boxes are better since that's the most common size you will see in competition. I guess 2 foot fits a garage better? but I never used them to dryfire with. I can run in 3 inch heels, I can ice skate backwards, I can even walk, talk and chew gum (I pay for the blonde highlihgts now)... But I am thinking running with a gun I should maybe practice
