Fiocchi (sp) used to make good dummy rounds but I haven't been able to find them in stock. Be careful to remove real cartridges out of the room/area when practicing as their slugs look very similar with the same shell color

I agree with the comments regarding the 9mm. I'd go with a 9mm for self defense. Even Phoenix PD opened the option to their officers with a specific type of ammunition. As far as competition it is a good Production Division gun. When you get into the other divisions in USPSA you have to consider power factor and the fact there are 2011 platform you are competing against

For lubrication I now use Slip 2000 EWL (extreme weapons lube) after using Clenzoil, Gun Butter and Frog Lube. I try to wear pants that have the same waist drop. It makes indexing the holster draw easier for me

I shoot SS Minor with an STI Trojan 9mm and Tripp Mags. Gun runs great. I own the Spartan in 9mm and .45 ACP. All guns had a little internal "smoothing" and Tripp chromed/coated the Spartans. Added Super slim VZ grips and short curved triggers. Pretty accurate and the slide to frame fit is great on all. I can't stand a gun that rattles which I've felt at times with a Kimber

I agree, not too concerned about a build too close to home. Tripp built my 2011 years ago and I live in a different state. I've sent my gun back to him once in 7 years for a matter my competent local gunsmith could not figure out when I went full auto. Virgil knew exactly the problem just explaining the issue on the phone.

I'm here at the Miculek's and trained with both strong / weak hand loads from 4 she'll caddies. You have to know how to do this so don't discount one for the other. Learn both. Lena trained me for the 2-shell backbone reload. I will practice all of them. I like the Nordic/AP and Safariland caddies + the Carbon Arms backbone. I'm small so anywhere I can put shells on my person with practice.

I bought my very first bolt rifle. A Remington 700 chambered in .308 WIN; 5-R MilSpec barrel. I know nothing about precision rifle but thought I'd learn. I'm not a big hunter but a little curious about the fascination of distance accuracy shooting. I went out on a limb. You are doing great. I've had a lot of friends that continue to help me and I pay a lot of that forward. Just keep shooting. It sounds like the fun is still there too.

Oops. Brainfart. 9mm. Recoil spring 12.5lbs for a .40, 9mm would definitely be less.

There is no shortage of USPSA GMs in Arizona that one can observe and that help shooters. There are 28+ at Rio Salado alone. Imagine that.

I was helping a new shooter pick out their first STI and recommended the Eagle with a bushing so they could shoot both games. That way she can buy "legal" gear for both sports too. She wanted a Ghost Holster and then I told her she would have to buy an additional holster for IDPA. She bought a Blade-Tech with the Stingray belt attachment from me. Learning equipment and gear is difficult because one is so immersed in all the other stuff they have to learn for a game!!! Seriously, some folks don't even understand power factor in the beginning.

No need to reinvent the wheel, glad to help. I have a lot of different types of gear for the ELS belt system. I'm using the QLS kits for my holsters. It's a larger receiver and fork.

They have said to do the Bill Drills I am taking too long for my second shot on close targets. I have great help on stage breakdown, transitions and I've for solid mag changes. My finger needs to do some running.

An Eagle has an option for a bushing and therefore legal in IDPA

Not a big fan of plugs for kids. They need optimal protection and they cant tell us if they are inserted properly

I don't have trouble with transitions both GMs I shoot with observed that I'm taking too long for my second shot. So if Anderson's premise for the exercise is to shoot for speed, then I do need to do the Bill drills before I choose to shoot for speed. Aiming gets in the way of my speed.

If the slide stop spring were compromised the slide would lock back after every shot. The slide stop is the last part to be inserted before the last and third pin (trigger) is inserted into the receiver (frame). If the slide stop lever is not locking back after every shot, I wouldn't worry too much about the locking block pin coming loose. Check DIRECTION it's coming loose Left to Right? Is it coming out all the way? Just slide it back into the locking block "RIGHT to LEFT" (looking at the receiver in a safe direction) into the receiver. The locking block pin is the FIRST pin removed when disassembling the receiver so if it is not coming out consistently I wouldn't worry about it. If it is then it's most likely an easy fix. Without physically looking at your gun this is just my opinion.

I don't like the CCW for some reason it rattles and the shells don't feel in place. I bought the Safariland caddies and they have a nice tension when 4 shells or less are stacked...Really nice tension. I also have the Carbon Arms TWinS Backbone which is "new" but haven't practiced with it yet except for twice on range shooting at a plate rack. I used a strong hand reload and it's designed for gabbing 2 shells at a time. I have to give it more time in practice sessions.

Yes. You can't extend the washer and screw past the recess. We may have ground any access off if I remember. It won't latch if it extends pass the fork recess.

If I'm not mistaken the Aftec extractor is one extractor for BOTH 9mm and 38 super/super comp. no need to " change" extractors. I have changed springs 3x and replaced the spring cap because I broke the cap at Area2 championships. Realized it after extraction / feeding problems. I always carry extra springs and spring caps. My open gun has 2 barrels (9mm and 38 super comp). I don't change extractors nor magazines. That's how Tripp built it.
