  1. i used to follow

    http://www.6mmbr.com/ultrasonic.html

im experimenting with 16 minutes ultrasound with 50% white vinegar

followed by overnight soak in dilute citric acid solution in 5 gal bucket no ultrasound ( see passivation)

    rinse well

    distilled water soak

    dry

    what do you think?

ive run the above a few times clean and as shiny if not more than before with added passivation. no issues yet.....

  2. was thinking about the recent gssf

i need to practice transitions!! shot speed not an issue.

    i didnt suck

a series of doubles is slower than even cadence

i feel like I shot .45 as good if not better than 9mm

I placed inside of top 40% in heavy metal

    Top 53% overall. Civilian.

Didn't realize a pro shot before me. He suggested to shoot left to right or right to left ! He was shooting in the 3's clean. I was in the 6's

I feel I shoot better warmed up.....

  3. shot GSSF yesterday with friend's 19 and 21. fun, didn't do too bad for borrowed guns. i officially take back all the bad words ive spoken about the block. have a glock bite. i need practice on the plate rack.

  4. placed 6th @ indoor practice idpa match (with low light cof)

only dropped 5points with 3 sec penalty

having a few malfunctions, that need permanent fixes

will add some new things to practice; weak hand only, strong hand only, gun and mags on table, quick moves to cover position, light for gun, and holster. SPEED

  5. The hammer spring is king in lowering d/a... Super ez upgrade. Spring alone can drop d/a weight by 50% or more approx 13 ish pounds to 6 ish # With one part.

My first mod was hammer spring. Then a few days later firing pin stop, extended firing pin, firing pin spring, firing pin block lifter spring. ( ultra lite Kit)

The extended firing pin improves primer ignition. But doesn't affect D/A. Pull weight or feel... Since you effectively decrease force of firing pin hitting primer.

For single action, The hammer is king here. Many here will disagree but changing sear really isn't necessary. The after market hammer only will greatly improve trigger break.... It's the way the the hammer hooks break from sear more so than a frag issue.

The 85 trigger makes the trigger pull feel lighter, but technically doesn't change pull weight...

Polishing all contact surfaces helps with both d/a and s/a. And is a relatively ez process.

I think the s/a modification is more complicated than d/a.

The reduced power trigger return spring. Drops d/a approx 1/2 pound

Don't forget the 14 m lifter is the key part for short reset. The aftermarket disco is key part for reach reduction. The old Cajun gun works site explained it a little better.

In a nut shell ( overly simplified)

    D/A.

    Reduced weight Hammer spring.

    S/A

    Hammer

There a lot of up grades/ parts that don't nessarily affect trigger pull weight that haven't bern discussed.

Slave pin, hammer pins, firing pin stop, trigger, tools, fiber optic sight, grips, grip screw, mags, stainless/ tungsten guide rod.......

Look at pro package and defensive package parts tha cgw offers. This will give you an idea of what goes into a custom gun.

As far as comparing cz with other platforms..... The cz really shines when you complete both d/a and single action modifications. I feel like it puts a $700 gun on the level of a $3000 tuned gun.

If I had to do it again which I will do..... Is bite the proverbial bullet and order all the parts one time. It's $ 6.00 shipping if you order a few things and the same if you get it all, once.

The sp-o1 tactical IS decent out of box. Its the user that is hard to fix......

The atlas thread is a good start.

There are some sp-0- tactical specific you tube tutorials...... Theses videos are worth the watch!!

  6. i cull cbc and aguilla

other wise not really sort by head stamp

recently set up dillon with same lee dies. and didnt cul still got 100% success?

i dont think it makes much difference when looking at A-zone level of accuracy

    unless your shooting bullseye.

i dont compete seriously yet.... but if i did i'd case gauge every round. right now i will chamber check every 5th or so

im up in the air about FCD die.... i use one on my .45ACP not on 9mm. but that factors into my thinking with reloading process.

thing is reloading is fun... but i'd rather be shooting or doing other life things than sorting brass

  7. The grip tape will stick "ok" to the wood, but will eventually peel off. Why I went with epoxy/grit. But one benefit is its replaceable if the grit wears off.

    how is epoxy..... replaceable?

  8. Do you use it? YES

Do you think it is necessary? YES, WITH CERTAIN BRASS

    Pros? NO SETBACK WORRIES

    Cons? NONE

Does it over work brass? NOT FROM WHAT I SEE

What brass are you referring to and why?

i was culling out cbc and aquilla brass, (hate culling) i was getting high rate of FTF. especially on longer bullets. but i dont think this error will be fixed with u die..... FCD maybe...

  9. not a whole lot of training...started new job....

    issues with mag/gun

not sure i like 11# recoil spring. i feel stock spring im faster on target?!.. im leaving it on for a month and see.

dillon 550 up and running sweet

getting back on dry fire, adding movement drills, blank wall draws

i'm holding breath!!!!!!... i need to fix/ work on that

  10. I have 2 of Jeff's (aka Walnut) primer track bearing plates, and I can tell you that they have worked flawlessly for me. This invention solved my problem of the primer slide sticking and shuddering as it moved back and forth.

The added length of the bearing track and the ball bearing roller have stabilized the motion of the primer slide, and they have made the priming operation on my Dillon 550B a pleasure. I add a small amount of powdered graphite to the bearing plate to provide a little additional lubrication--but it's not required. I heartily recommend this invention, and I wish Dillon would make it a part of the 550B.

(For the record: I have no vested interest in promoting this product; I'm just trying to to provide some helpful information from hands-on experience.)

I'm a new blue member.. I recently bought used 550 and was having primer issues. I did all the regular fixes..... Helped but still had issues. Primarily missing primers, I bought ( fast shipping) and installed. I had to debur a bit, went ahead and did quick polish on contact points, degrease, with stone approx 5 min. Fumbled with tiny nylok nut, still relatively ez install... Would have been easier if I could find my tiny sockets... Overall under 30 minutes.

this mod made a world of difference. Much smoother function. Very fluid. And now 100% success on primer issues. Dillon should buy walnut out and make this product stock

  11. http://www.6mmbr.com/ultrasonic.htmlbeen using this formula for years. the beaker thing didn't work out for me

sometime i deprime before sometimes i dont, not sure how much of that dirt makes to press, i brush off and blow off press frequently.

when i do deprime before i use..... http://www.midwayusa.com/product/220617/frankford-arsenal-platinum-series-hand-deprimer-tool

i've recently seen amazing results with citric acid, and passivation.... i going to experiment with adding this step ... not necessarily sonic

  12. trigger bar is clearing

the left side hook on trigger bar spring is twisted so it extends past bar slightly

same also rides just a hair out of grove of trigger bar occasionally

    how do i fix this?

If the spring is on the inside of the trigger bar, you have to bend the spring out(a little). you do this by the screw that holds the spring in, do not move the screw just bend the spring out a little.

    How do I do this?

Hmmm, maybe a call to cz USA would get you to the answer on mag dimensions ?

The Mec-Gar AFC mags (17-rounders) are distinctly different from the OEM magazines (16-rounders) - they actually have a different shape, which can be seen pretty clearly if you put them back-to-back. Their dimensions will definitely be different, and so any specified dimensions for the factory mags won't necessarily be useful in "fixing" the AFC mags.

Note that Mec-Gar 16-rounders (blued OEM type) should be identical, so if those are causing problems (and not the AFCs), then getting proper dimensions for real CZ mags could prove useful.

ETA - Or put "18-rounders" in place of "16-rounder" and "19-rounder" for "17-rounder" - the SP-01 factory mags, for which I know of no aftermarket source, are the same contour as the 16s, with 18s just having a longer tube and wrap-around pad. The MG 19s are simply their 17s with a +2 basepad, having identical AFC tubes.

Yep the ones that are different from stock....

  13. Great ideas. Mr flatelence.....

If I vise/ crunch the mag there will be movement elsewhere....maybe cause different issue?..

I'm not sold on its just shoulder contact points.... If I seat mag then pull down on them most of them work. I'll be milling over the seating issue

I really just want to shoot

  14. Cz spo1 tactical

Prior to reduced power trigger spring. Mags functioned fine. Shot a club practice steel match with them.... No issues.

I did the full mod job. Minus 14 m lifter and disco.....

After recent completion of mods.. I had failure an or very sluggish trigger reset. Also observed it was only with mec gar mags.

Trigger will reset when mags dropped.

Got info on testing reset, checking trigger bar spring. Flawless operation without mag, and with stock mag.

My hypothesis became true, stronger trigger return sping compensated for mag interference...lighter spring issues

Gun function in past because of greater strength of stock trigger return spring.

I took down some metal with 500, 1200, 600 grit stone @ lateral area shoulder of mag. Where there were previous wear marks. Trigger now resets!!!

..? Any one have similar issues or ideas?

    .? Any other solutions?

..? Any reason not to take material off the shoulders?

  15. can some one post a tutorial on reaming please, do you need a machine shop?

for now since I'm hand loading I can get 125, 135, and 147's RN and flats (albeit all short ) to function and shoot better than user, so part of me also questions is it really necessary?

  16. my vote is for tactical

    and do the work yourself

    then get a safety version

    and do the work yourself

    then get a custom shadow

    and compare them

I'm planning on eventually adding a shadow to the family.... along with spo1 safety, back up spo1 tactical, scorpion, 97, polymer, 75, and something concealable, a surplus/ buy back to cerakote
