  1. I ordered a welded shell carrier from C-RUMS last month. It was a little bit difficult to install, only because I had never taken the FCG apart before. But the modified carrier installed perfectly. I shot a shotgun match with it this past weekend, and the gun worked perfectly through 150 rds of mostly birdshot with a few slugs mixed in. No more Benelli thumb! Thanks Jeff! Best modification I've done to my Benelli so far!
  2. I don't think you'll be disappointed. If you're in the PDX area, there's an all-shotgun match at TriCounty Gun Club in Sherwood on Sunday March 30. Be there by 830am. 150 birdshot, 10 slugs. TriCounty Gun Club
  3. I ordered a 21" M2 Field with the vent rib from the Sportsmans Warehouse in Portland. Price was a little over $1000, I think. Added a NC +5 extension, a NC charging handle, a NC barrel clamp, a DMW safety and a HiViz FO sight. It works great, and have shot it in 2 multi-gun matches along with several boxes of clays. Great handling shotgun. My only complaint is Benelli thumb, and I've ordered a modified carrier from C-RUMS so that'll be taken care of soon.
  4. I can't reliably load 4 shells at one time, so I use the 6 rounds so I can grab two sets of 3. My little hands can't feed in more than 3 shells. You should try some out before you buy.
  5. Can't seem to find the Matt Burkett offset JPoint/Docter Mount available for sale anywhere, including mattburkett.com. Does anyone know of a source for this mount?
  6. thanks for the picture, c-rum! so, doesn't that hole in the middle of the shell carrier still gouge up your thumb? Mine killed the knuckle of my thumb when I tried the "tip of the thumb" technique...
  7. I tried this today, but now the stock shell carrier is digging into the knuckle of my thumb. Ouch! So, maybe the Benny/C-Rum carrier is the way to go? Does anyone have a picture? thanks!
  8. I finally got out to shoot my new M2 Field 21". I love the gun, but I am having a really big problem with my thumb getting stuck while reloading. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Is this more of a technique issue or a technical issue? thanks!
  9. thanks for the replies, my M2 now has a HiViz Comp Sight! some follow-on questions, hopefully you guys can help with this too: 1) I added a Nordic Components +5 tube. When I disassembled the M2, I removed the limiter retainer (black cap-like thing that I had to squeeze with pliers to get out) and the limiter (red plastic thing). I don't need these parts anymore, right? 2) I also don't need the factory magazine endcap, right? The knurled cap from the NC kit replaces that, right? 3) After I cut the NC spring and put it in after my new NC follower, I put the old factory follower on (backwards) and then screwed on the NC endcap. It seemed odd to have nothing between the magazine spring and the endcap, so I figured I'd put the old factory follower there. Is that okay? 4) How do I get the darn bolt handle off? I pulled as hard as I could but it won't budge. Do I need to hit the gym and grow some muscles? 5) Do you think I need a barrel clamp? This gun will be used mostly for games. thanks!
  10. So I shot my first IPSC match this weekend. I've done some other shooting events before, like Speed Steel and Practical Rifle, so I generally knew what to expect. It was a lot of fun, although it rained all day. It's hard to tape up targets in the rain. The plastic covers that protect the cardboard from the rain make it hard to tape. I shot Production with my Glock 19, which is probably not ideal but was still fun. One thing I noticed is that I need to work on reloading, especially since I've gotten used to the H&K mag release (where I can use my trigger finger to depress the release). On the Glock, my hands are too small to allow me to hit the mag release with my stronghand thumb without shifting my grip. Maybe I should use my supporthand thumb, but I haven't practiced that. Also, my fingers don't work as well in the cold, so that probably cost me a few seconds here and there fumbling with stuff. In addition to my Glock 19, I had a Bladetech kydex holster (not DOH) and 2 double mag carriers (Bladetech and a cheap Fobus). On one stage with a minimum 32 rd count, I shot all 5 mags I had and had one target on the texas star left! Nothing sucks more than sitting there with the slide locked back and out of mags. 10rd max forces a lot of mag changes, which is fun so I don't mind. I think I'll continue to shoot with this setup until I decide I want to get new gear. I'm reasonably happy with the Glock 19, although a G34/G35 might work out better. The Bladetech worked great, so I'll probably stick with that. As far as stages go, I think I like pepper poppers the best, and no-shoots the least. I had more than a few no-shoots. I probably tried to shoot too fast on several stages but that's what makes it fun, right? Maybe next time I'll slow down a little more. Anyway, I had a great time despite the crappy weather and I'm hoping to shoot more. Thanks to the match director and ROs at TCGC in Oregon for all their hardwork in setting up the match.
  11. I just bought my first Benelli, a M2 Field with 21" vent rib barrel. I want to replace the factory front bead with a Hi Viz sight. 1) How do I remove the factory front sight? 2) Which Hi Viz front sight should I get? There's a large number of them and I don't know which one to get. thanks!
  12. 21" or 24"? I would think that 21" would be ideal for USPSA Standard, since a +5 mag extension will be flush with the barrel and give you 8+1. 24" would be good if you wanted to use a +6 mag extension to get 9+1 and be in Open class. Otherwise, you could go 26" or 28" and get a huge magazine extension. Am I wrong here? Just looking for some opinions. And why doesn't Benelli offer the M2 Tactical with a longer barrel? The longer mag would be because of import restrictions, right?
