Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Seiko

    New Glock Colors?

I have seen pictures of one. If I remember right (many beers ago) it was less then 100 made for a Austrian border guard unit. I have a orange 17, that I have thought of turning into a limited gun but think I would rather just dura coat a regular 17 and keep the "collectability" of the real orange gun.
  2. Thats the 547. They made a 4"and a 3". Fun guns. I have 3 of them, one that I shoot the other 2 are safe queens. heres a few shots of the way it got around moon clips.
  3. There is also Boulder City. They shoot ICORE for us round gun freaks. They dont have a IPSC match but do have 3 gun matches. Not sure if they have a open class for that or not. http://www.brpc1.org But Desert Sportsman is the only range in town for IPSC. Wish someone would get weekly bowling pin shoots started at one of the indoor ranges again. That was alot of fun. The reason there are more clubs in SoCal is because you have a MUCH MUCH larger population to draw from.
  4. Thanks 9x25. Figured it was, but you know how that works
  5. Dumb question.... Is there a top and bottom to the trigger inserts? Other then where the over travel lines up that is. I am planning on adding one to a current build. And was thinking of getting the Enos pad. If I don't like the curve on the bottom was wondering if I could flip it around and put the flat on the bottom.
  6. Hi all, Just wondering what load you all use for ICORE. I'm going to be using 45acp 230gr and 357mag 158gr loaded with Win231... so if anyone has loads worked up on that would be great My first match I used my old bowling pin loads and it was brutal (makes major in IPSC out of a 1911 officers) so looking for a good starting point!
  7. Thanks for the responses. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some special thing I had to do if it was taken apart. I already have a 650, but I get sick of changing calibers. When this 550 came along for $200 with 8 sets of dies-tool holders I couldn't pass it up. So now I can keep the 650 38 super-9mm and do my switching around between calibers on the 550 for small runs of ammo. I just built a new bench the other day, finally talked the wife into letting me load inside. Too damn cold in the garage.
  8. Hi all, Just bought a used 550b yesterday with all kinds of tool heads and dies and so on. It has sat unused for over 8 years before I got it. Should I take it apart and lube everything? Or lube what I can while it is together? Anything I need to watch out for? Thanks, Kyle Opps put this in the wrong forum, meant to put it in the Dillon reloading forum..... Can a mod move it for me? Thanks
  9. Ill take the click over a wrong bang any time I've seen 2 TV's killed by unloaded guns! (not by my hand) I just clipped around 2 coils off to make the trigger at least workable for shooting ICORE. Stock double action was horrid. Its not bad the way it is now, still a real positive return, but not as constant of a pull all the way through like my old 58 that T did for me. I'm going to send it off to a real smith, but the 3 I have contacted said they are not taking any more work for at least 6 months. So had to do something to tide me over. Still cant believe that I forgot that dang screw. At least I remembered before I left the range!
  10. Well with the upcoming match this weekend, I decided on just doing a quick trigger job to my 25 before sending it off to a real gunsmith. So take the gun apart clip 2 coils or so off of the trigger return spring, oil it up and put it back together. Great everything is a ton smoother, and double action is good enough for now. Drop a pen down the barrel to make sure I didn't take too much off. Launches it across the room. Perfect..... or so I thought. Loaded up 50 moon's and ran over to the range today on a lark. Drop in a moon clip, pull trigger, CLICK, give it a count of 10, open the cylinder and light light primer strike. Try a few more rounds, CLICK CLICK CLICK NOOOOOOOOOO Oh crap, now I'm going to have to get some speed loaders a new holster and use a K frame, cause no one in town has a return spring I'll bet. Then it dawns on me...... Hey dumb ass that funny screw in the front of the grip...... might want to screw that in more then just enough to hold it when putting it back together!!! My dumb ass move of the month
  11. My god. I'm starting to reload again, and was looking for some ideas for a new bench. Talk about serious overload of information. Greatest thread ever.
  12. I used to belong to Desert Sportsman, but since their rules have gotten silly (no shooting before 9am ect.) I didn't renew my membership. I'm a member out at Boulder City now. Well theres Burt a 1911 only guy, fantastic 1911 builder, but over 8 month wait (probably longer then that now) Another good general gunsmith is Rance out at Spurlocks in Henderson, but hes more of a this broke fix it, mount a scope, put a ambi safety on a 1911 type of guy, not a custom work thing. Then theres the other guy that "lost" (look in dictionary under theft) a S&W Registered Magnum of mine. Theres actually a ICORE match out at boulder this sunday. I'll be there, come on out. Ill send you a PM with my number.
  13. I'm in Las Vegas. Only 2 real gun smiths in town that I know of. Ones a 1911 only guy, and the other is someone who "lost" a gun I had in for service a few years ago.
  14. Sent ya a PM TMC. Anyway its a 4.5 that has already been cut down at some point in its life before I got it.
  15. Hi Everyone, I've been bitten by the revolver bug yet again. Been away for a few years, so not up on whats going on in the world. I have 2 older Smiths that I would like to have some work done to. So need to have a recommendation on where to send them off to. A 25-2 that needs to be cut down (or new brl), trigger-action job, maybe a second lockup mod. Going to be a IDPA ESR gun, and ICORE gun. A 66 needs the second lockup, trigger-action job, not too much end shake but needs a bit of a tuneup. Going to be a backup IDPA SSR gun, and once in a great while carry gun. Not wanting a full house $2000 custom job with a 5 year wait or anything. Just need a reliable guy that does good work with a reasonable turnaround time. Who out there you guys would have the work done to your own guns? Thanks alot, Kyle
