  1. I tried that once but couldn't get it to fit in the little hole.
  2. Yep. That's the one. Join the club.
  3. I did this with my Limited gun with an "unloaded gun on the table" start: Big mistake. I tried to do "the trick" with the slide locked back. (Line up the mag with the magwell, pop it in on the start signal) Last time I do that - very interesting run: 17 Umansky, Steve 4 C Limited 104 0 71.89 1.4467 30.1909 25.16% I'm just glad I got it out in less than 2 minutes, didn't break my ejector, and finished down 6. Next time, though, no new tricks.
  4. This thread started sort of sinister and just went down from there...
  5. Hey -- don't knock it 'til ya try it. Think of it as a training aid. Sort of like taping over your dominant eye.
  6. This is something that hasn't really caught on in Open class...
  7. .45s are big and slow (relatively). I've seen 'em in an indoor range. It's pretty wild the first time.
  8. Personally, I don't like to hear the times during a multi-stage COF, and try not to listen. It gets in my head and I'm at the stage of my game that it distracts me. I'm pretty sure there is nothing in the rulebook that specifies calling them out. If the shooter wants to know after the COF, he can see the sheet or ask if he wants to know earlier.
  9. But if he did, where's a good place to get one?
  10. You didn't bring the 5.0s and 5.2s to try, too?
  11. To Corey, anything that happened prior to the "Hillbilly" thread is ancient history... Oh, wait: Are we measuring time in years or posts?
  12. Seems fine. My load is 5.0 N320 with MGs at 1.185 with a KKM barrel, but YMMV. Sounds like a safe plan. I haven't heard of anything less than 4.6 make major at that length with a 5" barrel but if you want to start at 4.2 you'll be fine.
  13. Or in IDPA language, "Little Louie sneaks into your barn with a match. Kentucky state law provides for his justifiable shooting. Engage Little Louie with two rounds to the body and one round to the head, using tobacco as cover, and then shoot his meth-head gang members with 5 shots to the body and one shot to the head in tactical sequence"
  14. Just bought a used .40 Springfield 1911 from a forum member that feeds 1.135 and 1.185 with no problem whatsover.
  15. Don't flip the safety with TOO much authority as a lefty, you'll break it. I'm left handed and have shot an XD, 2011, and 1911 with no difficulty. When I got an extended mag release for my XD, I put it further out on the right side to hit with my thumb. But after shooting the 1911 frame guns, I've gotten used to hitting the mag release with my trigger finger, as noted above. I then switched it around on my XD so I hit the mag release with my trigger finger on all my guns. It becomes pretty natural. The only ones you can't shoot really are 1911s with no ambi safety, but you can always modify that.

Hmm... wonder if that'll get me a smooch too...
  17. I don't want anyone driving MY speed! (Great Carlin routine) But back to the thread: Dang hoarders!
  18. Guys, guys... it's simple, really. Emergency stash: yours Dang hoard: everyone else's. I don't see what the problem is!
  19. My XD from before Melonite finish (Brunial finish, or something like that) scratches very easily. My XD with Melonite treatment is very hard to scratch and is a very big improvement on the old one. April 06, I think, is when they stopped making the old finish.

Oh, I'll tell her, but we both work better with the 'better to ask forgiveness than permission' -- don't get me started on the china cabinet! Since I was extremely gracious about that one, which despite the 0% financing will actually cost me many more hours at work ($$ = time at work) to pay off, I figure this one can wait until I can show her what I got before she needs to know actually how I paid for it. Actually, that's the best way to do it: Me: "Look what I got!" She: "Oh, no... which card did you put it on?" Me: "None of them, honey! Don't worry, you see I got this check..." She: "My hero" (smooch) Or something like that. It's not like she asked me to vacuum the house or anything... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...=58950&st=0

I hope she does and I bet she does! Embezzlement without consequence is what makes marriage fun. Well, one of the things
