  1. I wouldn't change them or support anyone wanting to change them. This IPSC thing, Lest we forget, is an American invention. It's our sport and basically the rest of the world glommed on after the fact. When the rest of the world started to lose gun rights, their gun groups started acquiescing to political pressure and anti gun sentiment.......hence the turtle targets. Guess what? Didn't matter one bit, they still lost and are losing to the anti gunners every year. In fact, the mere mention of doing away with "our" target is disgusting.
  2. If I remember correctly, TGO was on board very early with the concept of Production Optics. It doesn't surprise me that he'd shoot CO.
  3. The "nod" thing from some of the earlier posts was bugging me. It is actually distracting when I hear an RO tell me to give a nod or some such thing. I don't nod normally, I stand perfectly still when my make ready routine is done. This is as per the rules. And, per those same rules those commands listed above are it, nothing else should come out of the RO's mouth unless it's the word "stop". With that said, when I am an RO, I don't mind being nodded at by a competitor. But NEVER, under any circumstance, should the RO instigate that "nod" conversation with the competitor.
  4. Where do you sell it? I've always been intrigued with silver and gold, but never quite understood how to cash out if everything goes to heck. So I have a lockbox full and the zombie apacolypse happens, what good is it??
  5. Be like a tank turret. Drive your transitions hard starting at your knees. Arms and gun are like the barrel of the tank, solid, immobile, waist and below the turret.
  6. Not softer loads. Common misconception when people watch. What you are seeing is in fact what happens when sound technique and due deligence is applied to gripping a gun and learning to shoot fast and accurately. Go to a match. You will love it.
  7. Hmmm, low ready in under a second. So, exactly pointed at the base of the 7 yard target? For some reason, I find this interesting and will post my times when I get it done. Out of practice M.
  8. Clean it? Kidding right? Lock slide back. Clean feed ramp with end of your smallest finger. Oil the gun. Shoot the gun. In 11 years and hundreds of thousands of rounds through a custom open gun the only problem I've encountered were directly due to cleaning. As an example I cleaned my gun one time and somehow the slide was broke. See,......it's a direct negative correlation.
  9. When I started pushing PO/CO I really wanted 1911's included. I saw the division as "normal" type firearms, basically if an LEO would/could carry it, then I wanted it included. I see no reason to limit weight. I thought round limits would be enough to keep the field fairly level and not biased. A 1911 in 9mm shooting minor with an optic would be fun. Damn fun.
  10. My post was kinda long, but let me add..... The discussion about Production Optics for USPSA proceeds IDPA STARTING A SIMILAR DIVISION. The discussion about Production Optics for USPSA proceeds any manufacturer offering out of the box guns with optics. Again, it evident that some people have a deeply held bias toward an optic mounted production type carry firearm shooting minor and limited to 10 rounds. Not me.
  11. I've posted this elsewhere......or similar...... CO actually started life as Production Optics........many threads and back and forth on this in different forums. Do a search. A simple division using Production rules, but also a slide mounted optic. I have been a proponent of "Production Optics/Carry Optics" from the beginning. Full disclosure....I am almost exclusively an Open shooter, Production is the furthest thing away that I'd even consider shooting. I supported it because I could see that the concealed carry crowd was leaning towards optics. It was starting to be fairly common amongst them and the "new" set up. I WANT USPSA TO BE ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF PISTOLCRAFT AND AT THE FOREFRONT OF DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TECHNIQUE AND GEAR. WE GET THIS AND HAVE ALWAYS DONE THIS BY PUSHING THE ENVELOPE SO,.... What was discovered was........the very words PRODUCTION OPTICS rendered the "HATE THE IDEA CROWD" complete drooling troglodytes.. Those words were so powerful you could see the IQ ticker plummeting as they furiously typed and complained. While never once offering one idea why the division would hurt USPSA. Anyway,...once this phenomenon was identified the name was changed to Carry Optics and more than half the naysayers disappeared.. I DONT KNOW IF IT WILL EVER TAKE OFF,... BUT I BACK THE DIVISION. I HOPE IT WORKS. Upon reflection I now think naysayers can not stand the idea of getting beat by a minor gun with an optic. Admit it, most of us look at "overall" even though we know better. This new division shakes the status quo.
  12. Moto? I never know if I want to drink a beer with him,.......or try to throw him out of the bar.
  13. Amen Nimitz is spot on. I haven't got anything against going knee deep in brass though.
  14. Bring elbow down a bit and then practice. Very little practice can yield huge gains against the competition. I mean little, like 15-20 rounds a session. Covering draws and transfers and multiple shots across a couple targets. It just doesn't take much to gain a lot WHO.
  15. I would have Not ran a single shooter,.......as an RO I can't start someone wrong. I could argue that an unsafe start is wrong and I would argue that point. I would have stopped the match. Discussed with MD. If MD agreed, all is good. If not, they would have had to escort me from the range. I WOULD NOT LEAVE VOLUNTARILY. I have a duty to run safe and efficient matches. It is my responsibility to rise above the fray and fight the good fight. I would not allow a single shooter to shoot the stage and I would not remove myself from the equation. If I was escorted off the range then USPSA would be getting a call. It would be at this point that I would learn if my recent voting was worth it. I would expect the MD and any official that allowed this to happen would receive, in the least, some type of formal reprimand,...and at the most, but this is kind of extreme, be stripped of their titles and forced to retrain if they wanted to continue as officials. Again, the DQ talk is ridiculous because a good RO/CRO would never start a shooter.
  16. Even though I will not shoot CO (politically correct name) my question is how this effects you personally? Will it take a match or shooting opportunity away from you or will it effect you in some way that it is detrimental to USPSA?Curious minds want to know I'm surprised this thread was even allowed, seems like a troll to get people irritated? I don't see how this division hurts anyone, so why even care,....if not just to rile up some folks??
  17. The Thursday night fun match at Hansen Range in North Ft. Myers is a special event IMHO. I have shot it once before and thoroughly enjoy the "night time under the lights" experience. The owners and operators of the match do a great job delivering up great stages and for the money, $10,........ This might be the biggest bang for a shooters buck in Florida. What you get for your $10 bucks are 4, well thought out stages, with plenty of options and that aforementioned night time experience. I am a little ticked at my performance, but frankly, I did not expect much because I just haven't shot in the last 2-3 years. There are plenty of GOOD shooters at Hansen, so if you have plans on winning, you better be on your game. Same guy won both matches I shot and I did mange to improve my overall percentage against him (Lutsi). I also shot a clean penalty free match. I ended the night at 5th overall out of 30 or so shooters. I had some good stages, but generally just shot and moved too slow. Had some grip issues which resulted in trigger freeze and added seconds to a stage. So now the question becomes............. DID I ENJOY THE CAKE ENOUGH...??????
  18. Fun match at Hansen range. Shit show performance. Weather was almost perfect. Shot craptastic, but saw some glimmers of my old self (which really needed work anyway, lol). Will post results when they have them. 8th out of 30 something overall. 1-5 Open shooters 6-7 Limited shooters 8th was me, slow and rusty. Highlights, they had some small poppers at good distance and I went 1 for 1 on them. Lowlights,...Just wasn't seeing dot on some hoser 7-10 yard targets, some with "no shoots" and I picked up way to many penalties. But I had fun.
  19. In North Ft. Myers, Florida. Went to Hansen range and shot a bit. 100 rounds. Did draws at 7 yards. Did a near to far drill. Did some bill drills. Did some 30 yard head box shots. Draws started at 1.20 dropped to 1 sec. Bill drills started at 2.25. Dropped to right at 2 sec. Had fun with Pop.
  20. Loaded 500 rounds. Put my blaster in my hands and turned on the dot. Pointed it at a few things. Made the "pew pew pew" sound while pointing it. I just might be ready.
  21. 1. She won't get easier to live with. 2. Wife and family are hostage to fame and fortune. (let this one marinate) 3. Your rapid rise is proof of something,......... Is its lasting, or do you Generally conquer new things and move on to other things quickly? 4. She won't get easier to live with. 5. She won't get easier to live with. I was married 20 years, with her 22, and she monopolized my time from day one. I allowed it. It sucked balls. Divorced. When my current wife and I were dating we went to some matches, she thought it was fine, but it didn't trip her trigger. I explained it was who I was. It's what I wanted to do and I wouldn't compromise on that point. I shot almost every Sunday, 4 weekends a month, April through November for almost 6 straight years. NOT ONE COMPLAINT. EVER. KEEPER. 6. You have to know who you are and what you are about and who you are dating and what they are about. If both people are at peace with that, it's good. Being at peace and saying it's alright are two completely different things. 7. Did I mention she won't get easier to live with? 8. Anyone can marry and "make it work" for awhile anyway. It's better to be pickier and marry someone in which it will just work,......no "make" necessary. Oh I forgot my advice.........WALK
  22. The cake is calling.......... I'm going to Florida again and should shoot 2 matches with my Pops. I am kinda excited about it. I need to reload. I need to DRYFIRE. I need to practice. Or maybe I just need to show up and shoot? Maybe have fun with my Dad and cousin Ray? This seems more sensible. I think I'll go have fun again. It started as fun so many years ago,........I'll try that route again.
