  1. We might be looking to relocate in a few years if Oregon continues it's plunge down into the sewer and continues to constantly raise taxes. We are looking for a "gun friendly" state with a low tax burden, where we can afford a few acres to do some shooting, run our business, and raise a few kids. We prefer moderate temperatures and somewhere fairly close to some shooting and a major airport and that has a FedEx hub nearby (we ship lots of packages.) We are conservative, family values type folks and want to give our kids a safe place to grow up. Any input would be greatly appreciated as my wife is fed-up with the way our state is headed and she found this Prescott Valley place and she thinks looks like a nice place to her.
  2. CA? No, XDM is not legal in CA, I guess it is too dangerous for CA lawmakers.

    Barrels

I've seen some good an some not as good in the LW.
  4. That's what he told me, the west coast guys only got one 'cause the East coast guys hogged them all
  5. I spoke with a West coast SA rep today and the stores are getting 1 XDM 9mm until the big shipment which should be in a few weeks. Something about a big trade show this last weekend. The 9mm is saw was the 4 1/2" version, but I can make you one with up to a 6" barrel if you want. This one is 2 years from when I was told it would be released, so I wouldn't hold your breath for the next version.
  6. The 9's exist, I sent one to a customer today.
  7. Go to XDtalk.com and do a search on XD .45 and SWC. Long story short, the SWC profile of the bullet is not good for the XD .45. The mags sit the bullets high and the extracted case catches on the bullets in the mag.
  8. As stated above, in IDPA you footwork is absolutely essential. If you don't know all the spots you need to hit before you start the stage you will be slow. When in doubt, ask the SO if your spots are under cover.
  9. Thanks for putting on a great match!
  10. I'm finding I shoot faster and more accurate if I find a "scoring area" on the target for easy shots and a "spot" for hard shots, and then know how much I can deviate with my sights alignment from that area for that particular shot. Like BE posted above, I think it just happens like magic almost if you focus on it. If I don't find a "scoring area" or "spot" on the target, I still have a good chance of still hitting the target, but a good chance is not always good enough, and I can't out shoot what I can see if I'm paying attention, so it pays off to pay attention. If the "scoring area" is a A zone at 7 yards it is huge and you need to see very little if you have good technique, if it is a UPS popper at 35 yards, I need to see a "spot" on the target. The more you focus on a "spot" the less deviation you generally have with your shots and when your goal is the "scoring area", you will have more deviation, but as long as you know you are in the area with your shot, you are good to go so there isn't the need to see a "spot."
  11. I don't see needing a mag well with that grip. Is it just me or does it look Caspian-ish?
  12. covered here Another product from a shooter who doesn't understand about shooting fast and accurately IMO. The marketing is well done though.
  13. KR, I think you illustrated my point very well, thank you. It isn't a matter of geometry though. A Glock is a modern SA also, just like the XD, but they are a basic service pistol, not a fine tuned 1911. I think this is why IPSC classifies them both as a Production guns. In a "real" DA, you can cock the hammer/striker by pulling the trigger, and every time you pull the trigger the hammer/striker will fall. I know folks who have light hits on their Glocks wish they were DA. A Glock can't do this, either can a XD. They work on the same principles and it isn't geometry is not the issue. In SA's the hammer/striker is cocked using the racking of the slide or pulling back the hammer. Saying the Glock "cocks" the striker is inaccurate, it just moves it back a little before releasing it. The majority of the loading is done already and it uses springs to assist in overcome the rest of the pressure. So, is the Glock really a DA? I don't think so. PRATICALLY speaking an good XD and Glock are not enough different from each other for one to be "better" than the other. That is where my joking with Duane came in, because someone at IDPA must think the XD is much better than the Glock to classify it as an ESP gun because they aren't that much different from a mechanical point, or a functional point. I think a stock trigger on a Glock is superior to the XD, as it has a much shorter reset, and once they are worked over, the aren't in the same league as stock triggers.
  14. So is a mind that is open to using facts and not dogma to make decisions.
  15. If you insist on having a "random draw" for gosh sakes, please have it BEFORE the match starts. That would not only give the folks a chance to not have to wait if they don't get their ticket called before they get to the ball caps and ear plugs, it would also allow the folks who win cool stuff to share their excitement with their fellow shooters during the match.
  16. Nobody calls a CZ75 A DA? I think you typoed.
  17. I didn't change your mind, I just gave you the facts
  18. Practically speaking, a Glock trigger moves a shorter distance than a XD, and the stock reset on a Glock is a fraction of the XD. The XD is largely a combination of the Sig 226 (SSP) and a Glock (SSP) mechanically speaking. Lumping them together IF they are very similar, does make sense, as even IPSC (who doesn't always make sense) could figure this one out.
  19. If the striker fired guns are all grouped together it might just be in ESP. They are more like single actions than true double actions. Be careful what you ask for.... you might get it. This might get a bunch more true double action guns in competition too. I don't think it matters where they land, I just think it should be consistent. You guys put on a great match and I hope to make it again next year. I'll bring some rain gear next year though Take away the 2 rain stages and my XDM almost kept up with Goodfellow's fancy STI You have a great group of shooters over there, and the props were awesome!
  20. Jim, Good post, that makes more sense than anything else I've heard. If the Glock and XD's were together, ESP would be anemic at the matches I've been to. I'll bet the XD adds quite a bit in numbers numbers to ESP and props it up a bit.
