  1. David Spade buying AR's for cops For LEO no less. Bravo!
  2. Three Sisters Forge He makes a lot of one off knives from old logging cable. That is his main gig, and from what I he says the VG 10 is hard to get these days. I use these every day and could not be happier with a knife set.
  3. Handmade with VG10 blades, walnut handles, and water buffalo and brass from my friend who is a awesome knife maker. They make any kitchen cutting chore a breeze.
  4. or you could send it though us, as we don't use the custom shop.
  5. It sounded like you were saying it was stupid to modify a carry pistol in any way. That is false, plenty of LE agencies let officers carry reasonably modified firearm. Most people who I discuss this with would rather have a pistol that is easier to hit what they are aiming at, than to have a gun that is more difficult to hit their intended target. To me, that seems to be a pretty simple/logical. I'll stand by telling folks to be afraid of reasonably making a gun work for them is silly advise. I'm fixing a 9# trigger from the factory Wednesday for someone who would prefer their 1911 have a nice 5# pull. I guess I should warn them, they would be safer to keep an almost un-shootable 9# trigger, cause a lawyer might get them if they change it from stock. Now really, doesn't that just sound silly? With Kimber triggers being what they are these days, I don't blame anyone for wanting a decent trigger job done on a carry/duty weapon.
  6. Ask for an example and someone will post case law that is un-relevant every time. Having done lots of trigger jobs for duty guns in Texas, you will find the policy is largely up the the Chief. I've yet to see anyone post case law on persecution of a properly modified trigger appropriate for carry being to shoot someone that needed being shot. But since this is BE's forum and discussions are not appropriate here on that subject, I'll leave you with this, I've done many trigger modifications for duty use, lawyers (prosecution, defense, and civil) and even a sitting Attorney General of a state. None of them seem to have any issues with making their pistols the way they want them. If you don't want to mod your trigger, don't, telling folks what to do with no case law to support your opinion good reason is just silly. Even Mas can't find a case where the person needed shooting and he's a semi-professional court room sitter.
  7. Just an observation for someone who does production style trigger jobs every day. WAY more folks who will never shot in a competition have gun work done than the ELITE competition crowd. The number one thing they do in our shop, trigger, number 2 sights. Having those things allowable in competitions allows a lot of folks to use what they already have to complete. I think many competition shooters have no clue what the average shooters are doing to their guns and most of what they do would be a barrier from them participating in our sports if the rules were changed yet again. I don't think that is a good thing.
  8. Listen to Howard, a good smith will most likely just tell you no if you try to tell them how to do their job. It isn't always arrogance, it is most likely experience.
  9. Welcome to the club! It happened to my assistant a couple months back and he about wet himself, but the whole tube went up on him. He found it odd I just laughed at him (I was already a member of the club.) I found it odd that he wore ear muffs while loading for awhile and he hasn't forgotten his eye protection since.
  10. I find the clear tape distracting so use black tape OR for IDPA a have frosted a patch on my glasses with my sand blaster
  11. We run about 4 weeks, but with the holidays, timing might be a bit off in a few weeks.
  12. "...supports the sport AND MAKES A BETTER PISTOL" Feeling queasy yet? I do understand business 101 and still think the STI is a better value. Kimber is the king of advertising, sort of like the Bose of pistols IMO, looks good, works ok. I guess I've just fixed one too many Kimber's that folks weren't happy with and were fed up with dealing with Kimber. That is just my bias though.
  13. Who supports the sport and makes a better pistol? STI
  14. I have one of those too, but you can cut a hole in the bottom and it still works well
  15. Maybe if you use solvent, but you don't need to put the frame in the cleaner.
  16. 20 minutes with "green" cleaner (soap.)
  17. Mine is threaded Why would you want one that is not threaded if you even think you might want threading?
  18. I used two #10 machine washers. I used a belt sander to make them fit. They go in place of the mag disconnect and spring. Way easy to do. The first time I just used washers
  19. Director's take on the ending A few thoughts about what he wanted to do with Vic in the last episode.
  20. For sure Z, and the quill comes in handy too.
  21. DRO Pros I've been using the Eason with good results and it was on the cheap side of things, but it has worked well.
  22. Shooting is shooting and I don't think their is such a things a defensive shooting, as shooting is proactive and offensive by it's nature. Labeling it defensive shooting or competition shooting only has value for those labeling/selling it. If you want to learn to shoot better, go join the best shooters in your area. If you want to learn how to defend yourself, go to the gym and learn how to accept pain and bleeding. I got tired of pain and bleeding, so I took up shooting. It is much more fun. I think Brian Enos' has a great saying that addresses the the heart of your dilemma, maku mozu "Do not be deluded."
