  1. My wife is a huge fan of shutterfly.com The photos we get look like photos.
  2. Yes, most of them are pretty rough that I've seen. Do a search on Glock trigger jobs and then apply what you learn to the SR9. I would ditch the magazine disconnect and hone the striker channel also.
  3. I once worked with at risk teens as a part time job (evening shift, overnight required sleeping in a yurt) for about a year. Modern yurts are more comfortable than many apartments I've seen. For a living area, I could totally go for one IF I had good out buildings for the shop, bathroom and storage.
  4. I think that has a lot to do with it and I think like Brian stated, to get to be decent takes a lot of obsessing on it for a lot of years. You can have the best fundamentals and still struggle, as there is a lot to be said about having experience to draw from, as stages and matches are dynamic. That is something I love about action shooting, it is always different each time out. The more experiences you have the easier is is to apply strategy to stages also. Shooting a handgun accurately while standing is hard enough until you have lots of practice, then add in all the crazy stuff we do and I would be hard pressed to say it is and easy thing, even after all the blood, sweat and tears. After you don't have to think about the shooting the gun part, there is a whole new level of challenges that come up, especially once you have to try to figure out how the heck you are getting so badly beaten by a old big guy with one leg.
  5. ABSOLUTELY NOT. As Rich said the best job will be by a gunsmith. The kit parts we sell are a by product of the parts we needed for the shop use and not the same parts and we do not sell our shop parts. As far as the kits go, just look at the parts and you should be able to quickly tell the differences and the intentions of the designers.
  6. I have a bunch of it. It is nato 9mm and is hotter for sure. We use it for shooting through the Uzi. The outside of the boxes read 50 rounds 9mm Ball L7A1 HP 20791 The inside reads SV3890 HP 90
  7. They made a couple 5" for the American Handgunner article, but I have no clue it the will release them to the public. Personally, I would not want a 5" version unless they did some slide lightening, as it would lose the good balance it has now at 4.5"
  8. The swinger was activated from another shooting position, and I pied into the the position on the move, not seeing the swinger at all until after taking the statics. Even, then I still had to wait for it a tad.
  9. You must be the token gamer in the squad !!!!!!!!!! Um, IDPA is a "game" so everyone shooting is a gamer. I just don't want to make sure I stay "between the lines." When you shoot accurately fast, you already have a target on you with some SO's.
  10. Thanks for the input all. Well, I figure it took me less than a second to get the two statics and then I got a -0 hit on the swinger as it popped out from behind cover. I tend to be the only one to ask questions in the walk through, and I'll just add this to my list. I do not want to get the dreaded FTDR and even for an experienced shooter, there are a lot of things that are quite fuzzy, so I just as the SO if I can or can't do something. Then again sometimes during a course my instincts kick in and I do something wrong anyway, but I've never intended to IDPA SO's have a tough job, as I know that it would be hard for them to try to understand what a shooter is seeing when going through a course of fire. Thanks So's!
  11. I was shooting a course and the stage description said to shoot tactical priority, where if the swinger was out you would see it first, but if it was away, you would see static targets first. The question we had is, if the swinger is not in view can you shoot the static targets first? When I was shooting and I came to that position the swinger wasn't there, so I shot the two statics and came back to the swinger and shot it as it came out. What is your call and why?
  12. I've found you can remove Duracoat in a heated ultrasonic cleaner...
  13. Click on the link in my signature line or go to www.ionbondguncoatings.com to visit our web site. To get the chrome effect the parts must be polished prior to coating. Springer Precision 20791 Egypt Drive Bend, OR 97701
  14. Ion Bond Has a lot of facilities and a lot of coatings. The DiamondBLACK is only applied in the NC facility, and we are processing the custom gun work for them.
  15. We sell all the parts you need to make an open XD, so you don't have to make them from scratch. Are you calling my Open XD 9mm customers foolish? Yes, I have welded up big sticks and them XDM has a 170mm base pads available. It might not be as crazy or expensive as you are thinking it is. There are tons of open Glocks out there, and the XD has a sturdier rail system.
  16. I've already made a side mount for them, but you get too much deflection for my liking for a serious pistol. Carver will have a C-more mount option. I can mount it upside down in his hunter mount to do the same thing as the side mounts and it is more stable and is like shooting a tube sight. To much deflection for a "serious pistol?" I know they are on a least 100 "serious" guns, including two of my own, and deflection is not an issue. The only deflection issues I could foresee is bolting one on a plastic frame. The XDM has a plastic frame and nothing else to bolt it to...
  17. When I was shooting my 9mm XDM with Homie a few weeks back, I was getting .13's on some close and dirty targets on a drill we were doing. I doubt there is anyone who can out run the XDM trigger, as my personal trigger is super light., and I think .13's are plenty fast for most folks.
  18. CR Speed would be the race holster. I use Safariland mag pouches, ones marked for Beretta/Caspian will work. I use my SVI sized pouches with a little more tension also. Rich +1
  19. I don't know it the best drill, but it works well for me. Take 1 target and start at 5 yards. Draw and shoot 6 shots the the upper A/B zone in 6 seconds. Once you can get all your hits 3 times in a row, move back 1 yard and repeat until you find the distance you can not get your hits in the 6 seconds. Simple, but not easy.
  20. I would venture to say most "natural athletes" grew up moving around, ie. working, playing sports, or doing other things to develop good balance, strength, and hand eye coordination AND have the genetics to excel at physical activities. Once you have a good understanding of your physical environment and good control of your body, it is very easy to learn other activities, even if you do not have to "think" about it. Then there are the genetic freaks who are just "gifted" and can do things even well trained athletes can not do to some genetic anomaly. Becoming excellent at anything requires some degree of technical aptitude, as the differences between good and great are quite minor.
  21. Chuck, I had these guys finish my Single stack, they sponsored the ProAm last year. Fantastic job. 1 week turn around time. It is the blackest black I have ever had on a gun. http://www.nicindustries.com/cerakote_video.php Tom They're pretty close here in Oregon. How is the finish holding up? Any issues with flaking or peeling? Do you know how thick it is? That was one of the things I liked about the IonBond was how thin it was. Didn't mess with tolerances. We do CeraCoat here for colored finished on metal, and it is a good spray on, thin, fairly durable, but not close to DiamondBLACK or Hardchrome. We spray it at least once a week, so if you want a sample, just send something over as we always have extra coating in the pot.
  22. Who told you they increased prices? That isn't accurate. PM sent. Announced here
  23. That's exactly what I want. I rather have something not coming off than worrying about it at a major match. I might purchase a one piece guide rod later on but I just need a quick and durable fix for now. Which brands or type do you guys use/prefer? Silver solder and you will have a one piece rod.
  24. I've already made a side mount for them, but you get too much deflection for my liking for a serious pistol. Carver will have a C-more mount option. I can mount it upside down in his hunter mount to do the same thing as the side mounts and it is more stable and is like shooting a tube sight.
  25. That is just a sneak peak. I'm making a full blown package that will be about 2K, and a basic one that will be around 1.5k. The comp is ours. The slide will be Ceracoat with the front dovetail filled in. The mount and racking handle are ours, with a Docter bulletproofed sight. The grip safety will be gone also. I Should be posting better photos in my dealer section next week.
