  1. Tooltech I've used these folks for putting new Trijicon vials in dead sights and custom sights, so giving them a call would most likely solve your problem. Trijicon sent me there, and they have been on time and done right.
  2. IMO oil it and then wipe it out so you can't see any standing oil and that should be enough lubrication. As Rich, said too much is way worse than not enough.
  3. Did Limited really have only 2 shooters? Is that a viable division?
  4. The m9 mags can be made to work with the XD 9 BUT will NOT work with the XDM.
  5. Pistol Gear is making a base pad. I have welded a few big stick, but the base pads are easy.
  6. Cut a 16# 1911 spring down properly to fit a solid guide rod, and use a lighter bullet would be my first 2 suggestions.
  7. What you make as a shooter has little to do with how much you get to keep. I could drop 100K+ a year on expenses alone if I wanted to seriously shoot and go to matches. As far as ROI for pro shooters, you have to sell a heck of a lot of product to cover a shooter's expenses. Bowling is much more lucrative than shooting and much less overhead.
  8. Since you are into the hardcore testing, you should send me a barrel, and BCG to DiamondBLACK coat and then you can run it much drier and the oil won't be there to collect the dirt.
  9. The tubes are consumables. You can put a new one in.
  10. S&A Magwell w/straight backstrap - There is over 2 oz right there.
  11. +1 Good is a subjective term, so the better you get the higher the bar goes as your definition and understanding of what good is changes. Anyone can think they are good, because they can lower the bar as low they want to also. Years ago at my first action pistol match, I thought I was good, I was very wrong, as I had no clue what good was. Having as much work as we've had over the last three years and having our first child, I don't take the time I used to practice, and my shooting shows. I understand what it takes to shoot well and accept that until I dedicate myself to shooting again, I will be "not good." When you don't put in to daily work, you can not shoot on the top edge of your skill and not have very inconsistent performance. I'm fine with that as I still enjoy making it out when I can. To me that is much more important than worrying about being good or not.
  12. Since no one posted the IDPA rules, the first TWO rules in the rulebook addresses this: C 1. Competitors will not attempt to circumvent or compromise the spirit or rationale of any stage either by the use of inappropriate devices, equipment or techniques. This is the Failure To Do Right rule. C 2. Competitors will refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct, unfair actions, or the use of illegal equipment, which, in the opinion of the match director, tends to make a travesty of IDPA. Repeated offenses reported to the AC or HQ can result in having membership revoked. I still vote for the approach of giving a shooter the option of complying with the rules and a way to do so (I generally bring extra gear and ammo just in case a shooter shows up unprepared/equipped) and then they can make the choice of shooting for score, shooting for fun, or going home. If the MD doesn't stand behind you then, time to stop SO'ing, you don't get paid enough to help someone who doesn't.
  13. Kill him with kindness. ie. "Sir your equipment is not legal for IDPA, so you can shoot it, but I can not give you a score if you want to use non-complaint equipment. I do have legal equipment that you can use if you want to shoot for a score."
  14. Hearing TGO imitate Diamond Dave's Ninja skit
  15. That looks like one of those extra special bending bullets barrels, good for shootin' 'round barrel and a stuff ya know. Didn't you see "Wanted," you don't think them are regular barrels do you.
  16. Sorry for your experience, I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation. I've seen many more things happen from folks trying to "be faster" and not getting control of the pistol first and then starting the stage that are bad than good. At most it should take .5-.75 seconds to grab your gun from the holster if you have to move somewhere and it will most likely take that much time or more to grab it while moving fast, and there is a MUCH greater chance for something to go south while doing so.
  17. Really not much to discuss since Limited/RDS and Tactical will no longer be able to utilize comps.... Is this rumor, or what? First time I've heard it. It has been the point of discussion in an effort to delineate Tactical vs. Open. That is pretty funny if you really think about it.
  18. Henning makes some nice grips for them. Mine started out looking like yours.
  19. Benny, that was the only thing he did , a couple of days after i went back there again he put some lapping compound and cycled the slide until it was smooth again....is this still fine or will i encounter some fit problems in the long run..Thanks I agree with Benny that it is VERY hard to tighten the slide just putting it in a vise w/ the frame in it. If he actually did tighten the slide that way I would venture to say it won't be long before you have issues with the gun, because the slide shouldn't take a new set by doing that as if it is fit properly it will hardly even deflect. What issues would i encounter? Well, if the slide bends that easily inward, it most likely will loosen quickly too. I would bet a dollar that he didn't bend the slide if it an SVI slide.
  20. Please put down the dremmel and slowly take a few steps back. The 1/2" drums that most folks use are no good to use, they dig holes unless you are very skilled with them, you need a tool with a larger radius. You can get 3" scotchbrite wheels in different grits that you might be able to work, but I wouldn't use anything less than a 6" if I had a choice, 10" works well. The scotchbrite wheels are expensive, so they might not make sense if you don't have a lot of things to fit, but they do a great job. If you have a local fab shop, they will have them and you can do in a minute what you can't do in an hour with an inadequate tool. Good luck!
