  1. Specifically, we work with match barrels, and their specs wander all over on the ones we've had folks send in to be installed. Some are good, some are horrible. IE. Match grades so far undersized they can't be used, and getting 3 replacements before one came in that could be used.
  2. We stock Pistol Gear and Barsto barrels. here
  3. EFK quality is hit or miss from what I've seen.
  4. We've installed thousands of Dawson sights and I can count the number of sights that have broken on one hand. If you are breaking them regularly, I would looking into how they are being installed.
  5. The one in Field photo is legal, because it is a Springfield OEM spec for their factory extended release.
  6. Our club tried it using a rolling cart you sit in to "make" people shoot and move faster than they have the skill do to. It got really ugly real quick with people of "average" skill level. Your moving cover looks like it would work fine.
  7. I'll raise my hand and say I don't get why you would want to force people to move at a specific speed. From watching lots of newer shooters shoot the IDPA classifier, they move way faster than they can shooter the targets accurately and they run out of room before making all the shots. The more experienced shooters are the ones who move slow enough to make the hits and fast enough to cover the distance completely. The end result would be the same as self regulating the speed on the score card, but just a bigger gap in time.
  8. For me getting rid of the finger grooves keeps it from jamming in there so much. On my personal guns, I do move the undercut out further also as well as shaping the thumb side for a better fit.
  9. Just de Glock it is what I do. This cures a few things I don't care for
  10. Any metal parts you want colored I don't do the sears generally.
  11. okay, i'll check out the dawson fiber optic front sight. That along with a trigger job should be a nice setup for my better half. Sights, trigger job, extended mag release, and solid guide rod are some of the typical upgrades for a production xd/m What (and where is it?)research did you do? -I tried to move the site a litttle to tune up a left impact--found it didn't move! Now I'd like to change sites, reluctant to just get a bigger hammer! bob SO,how did you get the front sight to move--or is it just a bigger hammer We use a custom made sight pusher, but a bigger hammer will move, just not so precisely.
  12. Yes, just like you can put the mag release from the G34 in a G17. You must install one that matched the factory extended mag release profile (like ours.)
  13. FWIW IonBond coats a heck of a lot of high end barrels... The coating does not coat the bore.
  14. When you have a full time specialist fix your car, you get their support should something happen, and you should expect the work is done without scratching your car our having your oil filter fall off on the highway. Some people want the experience of professionals that have done something thousands of times, versus learning to do it once for themselves. We don't belittle folks who want to do things themselves, we even went to the effort to put videos out there so people can see the basics of what needs to be done so they can decide if it is within their ability. Some of the folks that say "have an expert do it" have learned it can be even more expensive and frustrating if you try it your self and are not as successful as you would like have been. Maybe that comes off offensive, but like you, they are sharing their experiences.
  15. Field, you are making the assumption that everyone is as mechanically capable as yourself. This is not a correct assumption. You would be very surprised the varying level of mechanical competency folks have. Most everyone can sing, but how well varies greatly.
  16. I was thinking squibs in his ammo box. If the guys really is that much of a pain in the butt, I would have no issue with folks getting in his face in the SO or the RM doesn't care enough about the other shooters to do their job.
  17. Make sure the part that screws down over the primer seating rod hasn't backed out. This will cause the the primer bar to bind and not go all the way out to pick up the primer.
  18. I take the panels and snap them on and scribe a line and go to the outside of the line, then go slow until it fits snug. Nothing fits as perfectly as machining it to fit, so I don't really pay that much attention to the after market parts fit since I want material to be able to trim back.
  19. On all the Spartans I've fit them to, you have to sand (I use a mill) the MSH down and just a bit of the rear of the bottom of the frame and you are good to go and it will fit perfectly, no ugly gap.
  20. Congrats on the B card. B's are just inconsistent A's. You need to hurry up and make A class, smaller bucket at big matches, better chance to place. B and C are big buckets. Then hurry to make GM because it is the smallest bucket, better chance to place there...
  21. Classes are grading on a curve, but it makes a good marketing tool because it creates more "winners" from of non winning performances. Some people put a lot of effort into staying in a class that makes them look good. I think people are better served to look for improvement and forget about class finishes.
  22. There is a match director that calls the award: First Place Super Old Fart Would you prefer that on your plaque
  23. That is a loser's mentality. A winner will shoot IDPA like every stage is Limted Vickers and aim and do their reloads within the rules. Lol...tell that to Bob Vogel... at 2:58. He ended up take some "makeup shots" on the steel instead to make it look better. He said his whole (super) squad shot it the same way. A bit of a coincidence that they ALL went to slide lock at the same place? The original poster asked what separates a Master from an Expert and "gamesmanship" is one of them! I guess you are saying Vogel, Sevigney, and other Champions all have a losers mentality? If YOU were an SO on this stage running Vogel, would you give him a FTDR for dumping rounds? How would you know if he's dumping rounds or if he called a miss? While you might score a moral victory with yourself, you're not going to win many matches when all of your competition in MA class is playing up to the limit of the rules. It would be nice if everyone played nice, but its an unfortunate reality and product of the game. Um, not meaning to "call you out" again, but round dumping is not permitted in the IDPA rules, and if specifically prohibited. Gamesmanship is not breaking the rules because the can't read your mind and as a top shooter they are not likely to slap you with a penalty without it being really blatant. The rules are very subjective in IDPA so enforcing them can be difficult, but the shooter still knows what they are doing. There is also a difference between winning and being a winner. If you win and break the rules to get the low score, did you really win? I know you can compete and win M class shooting within the rules of IDPA even if your competition doesn't. To claim that your competitors can only beat you by breaking the rules is pretty big claim.
