  1. I obscure the left eye lens where it picks up the front sight. I sandblast the lens in that sweet spot because the "frosting" works better for me than tape and it is USPSA and IDPA legal.
  2. Yes, we have them in stock even, Barsto and Pistol Gear. Just like 2011 open guns, some like them long and some like them short.
  3. You can weld up 170's out of two magazines
  4. The XD's striker spring makes the springing of the gun different than the Glock or 2011 and our comp keeps the dot in the glass when shooting major loads. I opted for a less obnoxious comp as the base, as it is easier to put side ports in than take them out The gun will handle the loads as long as you use good ammo and don't over use your brass.
  5. comp mount mount basepad 170 basepad
  6. SEE faster as trying to pull the trigger faster will slow you down. Watch for the sight entering the notch or the dot entering the centering of the screen and pull the trigger the instant it does. Since the slide cycles is .06 or so, with practice you can get really fast splits if you actually use your eyes to tell your finger to pull the trigger and can stay relaxed. When I was learning to shoot, I tried to shoot fast splits and the ONLY thing that worked was acutally paying attention to the sights and being calm enough to react to them without thinking. My fastest string ever was .1-.11 splits for 10 rounds with a prototype gas operated open gun and they key was relaxed and seeing every shot. It seems to me that the wiring from the eyes to the brain is pretty quick if you get your "thinking" out of the way.
  7. Is the aluminum oxide black and is it the same material found on grip tape? You can get it is different colors and aluminum oxide is used on skateboard tape (grip tape), sandblasting, and sandpaper. About any pace that does sandblasting will have it, and a handful will do many grips.
  8. Can I tell 5 PF when the buzzer goes off, no. I think many people get in trouble trying to get to close to the PF floor in terms of chrono and taking down steel, especially in 9mm.
  9. You might check out the Liberty FATBOY
  10. 100% of my limited practice for IDPA is leaning around something, over something, under something, or on the move. I (try) to shoot it all like I'm shooting Virginia Count (Limited Vickers) and aim (most of the time) for the down zero. The "IDPA DANCE" is almost as important as the shooting, and the better you shoot leaning and moving, the higher up the score sheet you end up. I don't plan on a "what if" because that tends to crowd out the "what I want to do" in my pea brain.
  11. The thing I didn't see mentioned was to make sure the collar that goes on top or the priming rod is screwed down tight. If it gets loose and backs up, it can cause the primer plate to stick and not go all the way out and pick up a primer.
  12. Nik, My wife brought it to my attention and I thought the same thing until I read Amazon's response: Earlier Wednesday, Amazon stood by its decision to sell the e-book. "Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable," the company said in a written statement. "Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions." She spends, correction spent, a lot of money with the company, and after reading their "official response" to this, I think someone in charge over their did review it, approved it (kindle does have a guidelines, which this SHOULD clearly violate) and allowed him to make money from the sales of it on their store. I do not care to tolerate the "mainstreaming" of pedophilia, so this is a stand I'm willing to take until the person who allowed this is no longer a part of the company.
  13. Just sickening this guy is making money from this garbage and Amazon is facilitating the sales. No more money from us Amazon. article
  14. But if you don't try them all, how are you supposed to know which one you like best? They are all shooting the same course, but they all have a different experience.
  15. Milling the slide isn't necessary to add a racker. We have drilled and tapped the dovetail in the rear sight and then made a racker nub to bolt on to it for people who can't easily grab the slide.
  16. I guess I just don't understand why switching around is a "dangerous" thing to do. I've learned a lot from shooting different platforms, divisions, and sports and I think they all make me an overall better shooter. You may get better quicker with one gun, one division, but my observations are that you may tend to stall sooner also. Staying interested and paying attention are very important if you want to get better. I like the idea of being able to pick up ANY gun and being able to shoot it well also.
  17. Many hundreds of thousands of rounds with care and periodic replacement of components.
  18. I would venture to guess that is the limits of his skill or all he is willing to give to a customer for business reasons. Taking too much creep out can cause problems if you go too far and you could make a gun unsafe taking it lower than 3#'s if you don't know how to do it properly, so he isn't lying.
  19. I would not suggest inexpensive for fine work, and am another fan of Miller. I use a Dynasty 200 on 3 phase.
  20. LOL, then I would get people complaining it was too girly, but we did spring extra for the stainless... Got to love the turf, we use it for practice in the sandy desert so our mags don't fill with dirt during reloads, so I took a piece and put it on my photo takin' table and it works great.
