  1. FYI There is a PM-7 .40 early CZ "no billboard" on Addicts
  2. Of the 8 that are mine, only 3 that I shot in competion, Gen 1 Kimber with Kart barrel (factory barrel was 50fps slower than every .40 I own), the PreCZ DW w/Extreme guts and checkered frame & a rattle box springer I bought from Manny years ago. My goto was the Springer, the techwell magwell and aluma panels really fit my hand. 2# extreme guts, Wilson lightweight trigger. fix rear and dawson front. Nicest of the bunch is probably the C&S, Sean McSheehy built the whole thing for I believe the 2019 Nats. was built with both 9mm and 40 barrels. The shake and bake paint job is not my favorite, but he was building a blaster, not a collector. Still lots of detail.
  3. I shot tons of ammo thru my SS(s) in .40 . Load them Long ... I ran 1.185 I know some that run 1.20 I ran WIlson 47D mags for a long time, then came to rest using Tripp 10mm mags. The advantages are: You get to shoot your same limited gun ammo Brass is always available (and typically cheaper) Slide forward reloads practicallly fall in (due to the extra empty space, 8 rds in a 9rd mag) Cavets: You mostly have to "roll your own" Reloads The ammo needs to be loaded to 10mm length for 110% reliabiltiy.. * I'm sure there are some that will eat factory length, but not the norm. The only other, that comes to mind: During a slide BACK reload, You'll want to "SLIP" in it, like your sneaking in the driveway, 10 minutes late. Otherwise, if you SLAM it in, with the extra space in the mag 8rd in a 9rd mag, the inertia will compress the spring and can wedge the next round between the feed lips. and the cause the worst DEATH JAM you can imagine. * ask me how I know* Of course YMMV They do POP up every now and then. Over the years, my friend Robert and I have collected/procured 17 of them.
  4. 10/17 in all of mine.. 135g typically but I've shot all weights the same setup.
  5. this ^^^^ * always file on the cheapest part
  6. I've seen several tungsten guide rods break, I would pass on those.
  7. I run #10 up front and 17# down below. 135g SNS @ 130+pf
  8. metalform 10rds with Dawson base pads.
  9. I choose SNS 135 RN, happy medium between slightly snappy 124 and the endless wait of 147's.
  10. Tripps and have them change out the hybrid followers for the all metal ones. Plastic and Florida sugar sand don't play together in skinny tubes.
  11. I use metalform (dawson puts his name on them) in all my SS 9mm, they sometimes need a little LOVE in the beginning (make sure they drop free, ect..) . But work in all my 9mms I have a few Tripp 9mm mags, don't like the fact that a bullet falls free during a reload or load and make ready (using a full mag as a barney) Nothing against Tripp, there service is 1st class and I only use there 10mm mags in my .40 SS guns.
  12. I use diesel fuel & toothbrush blow off with air compressor. If you "de-grease" anything in Florida it will rust by tomorrow.
  13. The Ti firing pin needs to go AWAY.. .if you go to a reduced MS you'll likely get light strikes with the Ti firing pin.. Ed Brown, EGW, Wilson BP, pick one.
  14. There are plenty of things to lighten it up and have it/them make weight. lose the FLGR, diff magwell, Alum MSH, diff grips. usually an issue with most SS 9mm., that's why tri-topped slides became popular weight reducer. The .40 SSC is close at Weight 43.1 ounces with empty magazine
  15. I only run major with my .40's and use Tripp 9rd mags.. I know the make 10rd mags (Corey system) that fit the box, but i have no exp. with them.. I shoot a 9mm SS when I want to shoot minor.
  16. .40 SS really shines in (2) areas. Same load as your limited gun. Slide forward reloads go in like butter (because of the un-used space in mags) *word of warning, slide LOCK reloads require a little finesse. If your too hasty, you'll see a death-jam from H#ll. This applies to using 40/10mm &/or .45acp mags While we try NOT to go to slide lock.. stage designers are not always considerate of shinny guns. YMMV
  17. Dawson mags have the Springfield style feed ramp that stop a lot of the nose dive issues on full mags. IMO, they are the key to a great running 9mm single stack. ^^^ Metalform mags for me too.. no problems .. sometimes they need a little "love" to drop free and lock back, but they feed great, keep the springs fresh. CDNN has "Zenith" branded Metalforms for `15 bucks https://www.cdnnsports.com/1911-10rd-9mm-zenith-magazine.html#.XmESeGhKiUk
  18. I've never had any trouble with my PILE of 140mm GEN 1 mags or old style SV tubes.. BIg sticks usually required good springs to function 100%
  19. +1 There are already at least two too many divisions in USPSA. Please, no more! Rifles @ a pistol match.. ugg.. a whole division for OPEN minor? Whats next Revolver optics?
