  1. Hey not so bad, I just started using the mill at work and spent all MonDAY 'til 9:40 Monday NIGHT milling wirespool stands. I wish I would have had time for some fun work. Wish someone had some good books on milling compensators. I know we have the tooling and I don't really have to share this thing with anyone. The digital readouts are spot on and we have a respectable coolant sprayer. Radical precision was so right and so funny, that guy cracks me up to no end!
  2. Thought this thread was about sighting in you pistol. I sight in at 35 yards as that is the furthest I usually shoot at. I take a paper plate, the standard of which is 8", and trace a quarter, they are 1". I shade in the traced circle which I have placed as centered as I can. From a rest at distance, again 35yds, I use sandbags, have seen a guy use bags of shot, I fire three rounds as slow as I can squeezing through so that the trigger breaks as a surprise. I go downrange and using a pencil, I triangulate to find the center of that three round group. I place a number within that triangle and I use colored pencils so as not to get confused which group is which. It is from the center of that triangle that I adjust my sights up, down, left right. I repeat this process until I find that the center of the triangles is consistently within the black circle. I can usually get that thing as near to center as possible for me to shoot. This process also works with a rifle and even with a scoped firearm. That's the way that I do it, hope that helps,JZ P.S. Afterward, I like to shoot groups and see just how accurate that I can place them varying the distance all the way in to seven yds. This will give you a definite idea where you are shooting at those distances and should give you confidence as to the POI vs POA. This will also help you find flaws in your trigger pull and your sight picture.
  3. Another tidbit from Tom was that he wanted the guitars on his first few records to sound like the guitars he heard when he listened to the Byrds. I can really hear it on those first records. Tom plays straight-up R&R. good groove, and pretty solid. No complaints here.
  4. Hey, when we run the A/C here, it's at 80-85 'cause it's 100-125 outside. At 75, we open the doors and windows and call it COOL! JZ
  5. About a decade ago I would go hiking every Saturday with some fellow boozers. Wwe would take quite alot of whatever with us in ouir packs. I am amazed not only at the milage we covered, but that we never got hurt. Stupid, young and drunk do not make a good combination.
  6. FedEx lost my last box of bullets, and the good ol' USPS had them at my door in 3 days. I like the Postal Service. Heck, while I strive to get our product out to customers on time even when on short order, think I'm only pushing 98% for the last four years. While that may seem great to most, I can guarantee that those 2% were none too happy. I try to please them all the time but hey, things do happen. JZ
  7. That was just fantastic! I agree, one of the best games ever! Congrats Giants
  8. I play at the guitar, but I'm not a guitar player. I do well at rythm and picking up chord progressions off the radio, but I am far from anything remotely confused with soloist.
  9. I was wondering if any of you people have ever used this company for any plating or finishing. They also have a finish called ceraguard that looks interesting. I like more subdued coatings and am always looking to find the alternative to electrofilm. Your comments would be appreciated. BTW, These guys also have on-sight gunsmithing and porting. It wouild seem you couild go to them for one-stop shopping and get you gun worked on and finished without ever leaving their shop. JZ

Shan and I are reading these together that, we think, is hilarious!
  11. That's what we need! Our 1 year old likes to get into everything! Think I'll be installing all those tamperproof things in our house this weekend as a matter of fact. Shannon thinks we need one of those though.

Yeah, but that's pretty much true for just about anything that ails most of America.... Amen to that! Worst problem is that I'm the cook here and I hate diet food. Like Garefield said, "Diet is die with a t". Well I decided to start running and working out in the morning. The guys at work and I built an improvised workout station between the two main poly silos, and I have a great running track in the desert near our shop. I'll bring out Aussie Cattledog with me, she'll love it. JZ

Went to second post-op appointment today. Doc says that I'm coming along fine and that let's see if that's all we need to do. Yes the nose is still tender, but not as bad as last week and now I can shoot clearheaded as I'm off those wild antibiotics. (tweaked me more than the vicodin) So if the sleep apnea isn't cleared up inside a year, he wants to take out my tonsils,( which are huge) and my adnoids. he says that that is also more painful than when you are young. I'm not old but I am 38. So we'll see. He also said that losing 35 lbs would go a long way to helping the whole issue. I wish he would have said, "Eat what you want and everything will be okay, and forget exercise, it's a waste of time." But he didn't.

Daughter was sick today, so I bundled her up and brought her along to reset the platerack. Bay four this time as the platerack on five has a habit of dropping the third plate from the left on its own. Presentations and reloads once again. This time time was a factor and so I split 15 minutes in half, presentations and reloads, then 10, 15, 25 on the rack until I was relatively fluid. when I felt good at that I made a drill that was fun and difficult. Starting at 25, draw, engage two, move to 15 reloading on move, engage two, reload on move and engage last two at 10. Did this the remainder of practice. Was able to improve by the eleventh drill by hitting all plates on the first shot and reload smoothly without hiccups. I am really seeing that you can feel it when you call your shots. There are finite clues in you sight picture that tell you almost intuitively that that shot is a flier. I hate that feeling and I love it. Hate to feel it , love that it helps me make a shot up quickly before relying on sound or target movement. Now I need to weld up some target stands for cardboard targets. I think seven will be good as I can set them up in the house and with the poppers I have, I can practice more intricately. It was fun to have my girl there. She was my starter and target resetter. The cable to reset the plate rack is 30 yds. long and she was able to stay out of danger, but still be part of the fun. When I told her it was time to leave, she wasn't too happy. I need to get the rear sights on her 10/22 fixed so that we can get her some trigger time. All in all, a good range day. Need to dryfire and livefire more. Loads are good, and I am happy with them.
  16. If you can only get one from the shot show I am bumming out. They need to have a way for us to get one from Sedro Wooley. That would look great on the wall of my garage over my reloading equipment. Also one of the top 10 shooters per class. Then after a couple of years my wholegarage would be covered with shooting posters. Another thing to wish for
  17. Wife and daughters came home from Target tonight with Rubiks Revolution and it took me seconds to get hooked. I think this will be good for getting me to think faster or react quicker for shooting. At least that is waht I will say when they want it back when I'm hogging the thing
  18. The word is MANIPULATION! I tell the wife that it is good for the economy if we inject that cash right back in by purchsing DURABLE GOODS! Tell her she needs to split it with you and then take yours and go crazy! But after my initial post I think that I will take a big chunk of this and get something cool for the kids like a big Jungle Gym. I should have some left-over for powder and bullets. I already paid range fees and had my guns worked on, and the CR belt I have my eyes on will be here next week. But it's been great hearing what y'all want to buy.
  19. That's what I do. Check cards can be processed like that at most locations. I've found some merchants unaware and happy to oblige when I've pointed that out. ( It usually is someone not used to that ability of check cards) Can't understand why he wouldn't post a sign though. I don't mind as long as he tells me before he stars to ring it up. That way I can run down and get cash. JZ
  20. Damn! I always liked cool paint jobs on guns ever since I saw my first red with paint drips ala Eddie Van Halen on a pistol back in '88. Looks great! I just got asked if I wanted to buy an 1100 Wednesday for $350.00. It was so clean and now I just might call him after seeing that . Hope I can find a place in my shop to hide it (At least for a year and then when my wife sees it I'll just say,"Aw that old thing? I've had that for over a year")
  21. I have been oogleing guns lately. I as many of you know am currently a BHP shooter. What I want to know is what is your take on the pros and cons of the 1911 and 2011 platforms, wide guns vs. skinny? I sure like the way the skinny guns feel and see them all over the place for sale. But those wide bodies seem cool. Now that there is a division for those skinnies, seems awfully inviting to shoot SS.Also, whose do you prfer in the skinny and wide platform? You answers and input are appreciated, JZ
  22. I'm hearing all over the news that the wife and I will be getting some money in the mail from our Gov't. Well, Ive been day dreaming about all the pistol-related things I will buy. And yes I will blow this money and inject it directly into the economy. What are you gona buy Jimmy? Jacketed bullets and primers and powder and Ionbond for the pistol and a new holster and new mag pouches and a new CR belt and and and and and.........
