    Which one?

Still Hunt Get the spouse involved or guys only?
  2. OK, These are quite mild, but they are what I run for Cowboy action in my 44 mag and 44 special. The mag is running 6gr of Unique behind a 240gr Lasercast RNFP lit by a WLP. This is in the Rifle and is extremely pleasant to shoot while giving me about 700 fps(ish) out of a 5-1/2" Ruger Vaquero (it's been years since I chrony'ed this load). The special is running 5.2gr of IMR TrailBoss behind a 200fr Lasercast RNFP lit by a WLP in assorted brass. I have not chrono'd this load, only because it is in the middle of IMR/Hodgdon'ss safe load range and I do not need to worry about making power . Remember that these are cowboy action loads and MUST be under 1000fps for shooting steel. I will say that the TB load has been pleasant to shoot and does not beat my carpal tunnel stricken hands like some other peoples' 44 Mag loads. My other load is 17gr of 2400 pushing a 240gr Cast SWC or JHP with the above mentioned cases and primers. This load is more my hunting load in the same Rugers.
  3. Yamil, I know the munch feeling, used to help with the down chain through HS and a bit in college. Good to hear that the Black lable is helping

    Which one?

Yes Both are good especially if the sausage gravy is homemade! Coffee or Cola in the AM?
  5. Dan, Wouldn't the desintegration on steel would be a good thing? I am coming form a CAS/silhouette background where all we shoot is steel and we want the bullets to splatter on the target.
  6. I will have to say, that I have not noticed a lube smoke issiue on my cast boolist. Primarily due to the fact that all of my home cast have been shot over compressed loads of FFg or FFFg (Black Powder). I have not really seen much smoke (relatively) shooting Lazer Cast with Blue lube over Unique.
  7. Kurt forgot to mention the 55 grain bullet to use is a Nosler Ballistic Tip. It's a match quality bullet with a better B.C. Should I have said that Kurt??? Now What about the Hornady V-max 55? Does it work as well as the Nosler? I know that it did at 40 in my 221 Fireball, but that's a 200 yd rifle.
  8. Ed, that sounds about right My bride asked for Silver (Laser cast) for her Christmas Present
  9. Jim, I hope that the eye thing goes well with you. Wednesday marked the first week post-op and I have been released to do everything that I would normally do . I will be waiting a bit before dragging out the scatter gun tho. I think that the doc put a distance lens in, but have to wait a couple more weeks before they measure a new perscription for that eye (the stygmatisim is still there). With luck my weak hand shooting will improve greatly, because I have a habit of switching eyes as I switch hands.
  10. What is not to like, My bride is going for her CCW training this weekend and she needs 200+ rounds of 38 spl ammo that is not cast boolits (range rules at the local indoor range). After looking at the cost of ready to shoot, we bought a box of Berrys and a bag of Winchester 158gr Jacketed slugs. I sat her down at the Dillon tonight with it all set up and showed her how it works and turned her loose. Note, I am not allowed to strain myself yet because of Cataract surgery. An hour and a half later she has turned out 300 rounds of good cartridges . While she was doing this, I was swaging primer pockets and hand priming LC 5.56 to load on the single stage (200 rnds). She is more appreciative of Dillon's ease of use and productivity. While this was going on, we were having a good evening conversation and just enjoying each other's company. What more can you ask for, Esp. when the 3-year old is asleep . I am verry fortunate to have a loving wife who is a willing participant in most of my shooting hobbies
  11. Look at this thread, Just the facts: Lube Recipes - Cast Boolits The Castboolit forum is a gold mine of information concerning shooting cast lead. They have been as freindly and helpful as the members of BEnoverse
  12. Real interesting, Gas is now down to $2.47 here in Anderson with Diesel below 3 dollars and my folks 130 miles East (Alturas) are STILL paying $4.85/gal US for it :surprise: Does it really cost $2.00 a gal. to haul it that far . I will be curious to see how much it jumps for the Thanksgiving migration
  13. I'd look for a Rossi 62 or it's grandfather the Winchester 189X pump rifle. That or either a 9422 or a Marlin 36a. All good and accurate 22's that have worked well for me (including as Silhouette Rifles).
  14. Just saw diesel at $2.99 at the local safeway and gas was down to $2.52 at the local stop and rob near my house. Of course this is in NorCal so we are normally taken at every pump
  15. Brothers, I feel your pain! We shall see what the optometrist and optical surgeon come up with for me after today. I am going in for cataract surgery at 11:00A PDT It will be interesting to see how the post operative eye will work with my shooting. At this time, I can not even see the rear sight, let alone the front sight, so any improvement is a good thing. Who knows, there may be an open gun in my future too.
  16. Nemo - I love that Line, it's now in my signature, modified for my circumstance

    Texting

You Betchum Red Ryder Actually the PRK has another NEW law that goes into affect on Jan. 1 about it being a citeable offense to be texting while operating a vehicle. This comes on the heels of a couple rather nasty fatality wrecks, on on a highway project in my district . The only thing that I see that it will do is give them another offense to cite after the fact.
  18. Nemo, Be glad, be very glad! Little Will was introduced to Cowboy action at a VERY young age and wants a full set of blasters and leather There are days that I wish that I had found USPSA a LOT sooner, but what has happend has happened  Very nice Blaster by the way and I commend you for getting Francisco a Quality tool to learn with
  19. Hey Jimmy, Was that a SDSU soroity Sister?
  20. I have to second Aiki, Down here it has been a bit on the dry side. Lake Shasta actually matched the 1992 level and a lot of stuff is visible again Larry, come up to Redding and take a day trip North, East or West and you can usually see some color.
  21. Don't have it here, but on my Comp. at the office, I have my wife shooting Clays at the local gun club.
  22. Thanks for the info all. Kurt, you are right about the Roll pin, there isn't one ! Looks like it got past QA/QA and shipped. I called the suplier about my other post on Barrel weight and mentioned this issiue, and they are shipping a new one out first thing in the morning . Now, I am really glad that I put the new furniture and upper on my old(er) lower and gave it to my dad instead of letting him have this one. How hard would it be to drill this one for a roll pin?
  23. Hi guys, I went to the range after work tonight to test fire my build and ran into an issiue. on the 6th round the rifle did not eject. I noticed this as the trigger had not reset. Going through drop the mag and pull the charging handle, I noticed that the CH would only come back about 1/3 of the way (not cool). Popped the rear pin and the bolt came out with an empty, no problem. As it moved around, there was a sliding sound from the butstock. End of range session. Came home and removed the buffer (awful light). The buffer is in pieces on my bench now and I am wondering if there is a special order for the weights and spacers to go back in it. I have had zero sucess with google and our search. Please help. Thanks
  24. Kgunz, How do you like the IR cammera? Is it worth the money? We are considering one on the range for security/vanalizim issiues.
  25. Hence the term 3 Dog Night We are keeping the thermo about 68 now and will see how the upgrades help this winter (New Windows and doors). Of course it will probably be a wash since the rates have gone up again
