Hmm...it may be the grip and not the frame? My guns that don’t work great with the 015 have the Cheely E2 aggressive. The Everglades didn’t work with these grips either but did work fine with one of my other guns that has a standard Cheely E2 grip and a standard width STI frame. Maybe it’s the SV grip that makes the 015 work well.

My two guns with the Cheely extra wides are already really floppy AND they bind occasionally. Plus, the locking lever is too short and does not work with my mag release paddle. I received an email from Safariland just today saying they do not have any plans to make a different locking lever to accommodate extended mag releases. I also wish they would release a muzzle support, but I have yet to see that either. This combination of things made me go back to the Alpha X. I tried the Everglades for a while. It releases great but it digs in my thigh and I don’t like the way the rollers mark up the bottom of the frame.

My Cheely Extra Wide is the one that binds a little. Fits for the most part, but occasionally binds. I’m back to the Alpha X.

Ismi springs are very tight on the rod. The coils on the Wolff are touching but not tight. Sprinco progressives seem to have the largest diameter but I wonder if that is actually bad. Sprincos are supposed to be the most accurate in terms of matching the weight it says on the package. I can’t seem to get the recoil spring tester to stay at the same reading, the weight fluctuates by around a pound, which makes me question the usefulness of the spring tester in the first place.

Sure. I’m not saying whether it is right or wrong, I was just saying what I do and why. As a scientist, I also realize that theory and reality don’t always agree in all situations.

I’m still occasionally getting some hang ups on the draw with this 015. The gun rocks a lot when it is holstered. The muzzle guard may help the gun to stay in a consistent position so that it draws the same every time. That’s the way it is with my Alpha X too.

I’m still waiting on how to buy the muzzle support...

I only load the mags I’m going to use before each stage. I was told leaving them loaded is bad for the springs.

I guess I’d be worried about water getting in there now though.

So...back in May, I was joking about these new pouches being worlds better just to troll. But now I actually got a few and they are definitely better than the older ones. The attachment is better, and the mags seem to come out of the pouches smoother, but I don’t know for sure if that’s because my Alpha Xs are old. I would say probably not worth buying new ones if you already have Alpha Xs, but if you have ever been super pissed about them falling off, definitely worth considering or even only changing the front pouch that gets the most use. I feel like almost everyone who has used the Alpha X has had one fall off at some point and been embarrassed.

Cool! Will we be able to buy the muzzle support separately? I like a muzzle support.

I’m now seeing this listed on the Safariland website as “015xl”. Does anyone know what makes this different than the standard 015 if anything? Are they selling it with a longer hanger now? The photo on the website still looks the same as the “015”.
