  1. I had the same experience, disappointed. It was nice to work the handle on a 1050 and RL1100 though. I don’t often see one of those in person. I’d rather buy from Scheels now, free shipping.
  2. I scored the CCI500s from Powder Valley but it took some work. Went in and out of stock several times and had to keep refreshing the site. It stinks to have to buy 1K at a time but at least their price was better than Midway and Brownells.
  3. I've got the Burris MTAC and the Burris 1-4X XTR and like them both but want to try a Vortex next. I was concerned about the PST getting knocked out of zero, sounds like the HS is the best bet.
  4. I love the JP/VTACs in mid or rifle length and the PRI GenIII carbon fibers.
  5. I've got the Burris MTAC and the Burris XTR 1-4x. I like both but I think I like the MTAC a little better. It's a great value. I'd also like to try a 1-6x scope like the Leupold or GRSC.
  6. I just picked up a new M&P 9 Pro and want to install a good rear sight. I would like to try the Novak adjustable. Anyone using that sight on their 9 Pro? Did installation require any machine work? What height and width front sight are you using? If I don't go with this sight I will probably use a Heinie slant pro, I have had good luck with that sight on my G22.
  7. Bud's only has 9L's, I can't find a 9 Pro for a decent price. I would like to pick one up in April while they have the 2 free mag deal going. Anyone know a place that has them?
  8. I use the 5.11 trainer belt, 1.5 inches wide without a stiffener. Great for IDPA matches and also use for carry. I've got a brand new extra that is too big for me, do you wear a 40-42 by any chance?
  9. You should consider the Springfield EMP. Great gun, very accurate, light weight and very easy to carry. You can hide it under just about anything given a good holster. I typically prefer a full size 1911 or commander for carry but the EMP is great when I have to carry smaller/lighter. A good backup for your primary gun is a S&W j frame like the 442 or 642. With a good pocket holster you can carry one anywhere.
  10. +1 for 3.5 grains of Titegroup, very accurate in my guns.
  11. +1 on Garthwaite, he is a true artist with steel. His Hi Powers and 1911s are superb.
  12. I like the slide cuts and profile at the front of the slide better on the Pro and plan on buying that one instead of the L
  13. I have had a Chrony, one of the basic Pact and now a Pact MKIV with timer. I much prefer the Pact chronographs over the Chrony.
  14. I have noticed that many of the primers I have problems with have some type of coloring between the crimp and the primer. In fact most of the Federal Cardboard boxed and PMC I have found are that way for me. What are you doing to deprime them before putting them in the press. I have the Dillon Swagger but don't know how to get the primer out before swagging. What do you do? I just tumble, lube and size the brass, then swage the primers. When reloading I leave out the sizing die since that is already done.
  15. I've never broken a decapping pin on military crimped primers (unless I mixed a berdan primed case in there DOH!) I am to the point though where I hate to size, swage and trim rifle brass for .223. Now I buy that sized, trimmed and ready to go from Scharch when they have it in stock. Much better use of my time.
  16. What do you expect living in Florida? Move out here to the Rocky Mountains where it is bone dry and you won't have that problem! Even living here I make sure I wipe down those older blued M&P mags, you're right the finish isn't very durable, if your hands are sweaty when handling them you've got to wipe them down soon after.
  17. I was using an Aerotek tool to install the front sight screw, the screw would go in so far and stop before the front sight would tighten. You can't put much torque on that tool with bare fingers. I put the slide in the vise and pressing down on the tool was able to turn it with a pair of pliers and get the screw to thread in all the way and tighten the front sight. I'm not sure if the threads in the sight weren't tapped well or if something else was the problem. I used red loctite and got it nice and tight so it should stay on there now.
  18. I put the Nordic +5 on my M2 with a 21 inch barrel and used the Nordic clamp too. Turned out great. I haven't gotten the carrier modified yet to prevent Benelli thumb and I plan to bevel the loading port too.
  19. I just picked up a Heinie Slant Pro sight set, the front sight is a ramped serrated style. I punched out the Glock front night sight and the bottom of the Heinie sight fits nicely in the slot in the slide. The problem is that the front sight is still loose with 1/16 inch of movement when the sight screw is fully tightened inside the slide. Is it normal to have to shorten that front sight screw? I'm afraid that won't leave many threads to engage the front sight. Any ideas? Thanks
  20. Can't wait to get my own Pro!
  21. I just received 5 Tripp 10 round 9mm Cobra mags I ordered for my Les Baer Premier II. The mags are really nice, much better than the mag supplied with the Baer. I'll give a report later this weekend after I give them a try. I ran a few mags of 9mm through the Baer yesterday using the McCormick 10 round .38 Super mags I had been using in my 9x23 carry gun, held 10 rounds just fine, fed fine, did not always lock the slide back though.
  22. I am using 4.2 grains of Titegroup with 124 grain CMJ from Montana Gold. These chrono at 1086 fps from a CZ75.
  23. Press release on the S&W website says they started shipping on May 8th or so. I haven't been able to find one yet though.
  24. I just chrono'd some Clays loads today. 124 grain MG CMJ with 3.5 grains Clays in a CZ75SA. Average velocity 980 fps, very soft shooting.
  25. I ordered a 21 inch field barrel from Benelli through my local Sportsman's Warehouse for about $400. It should be a pretty good match for my +5 tube and I think will make the gun easier to handle than the 26 inch barrel. I still want to send it out to get the loading port beveled and polished out.
