  1. Yeah, I shot those 5 over the chrono this morning and my first thought was "Yeah, that'll work."
  2. Some numbers from February and this morning. 230 Grain Precision Delta FMJ, 4.8 WST, Winchester Brass, Winchester LPP, 1.255 OAL .470 taper crimp, fired from stock barrel Glock 21 Gen 4. Chronograph numbers from February 6, 2022, temperature 30 degrees, 810,789,798,788,801 average 797.2. Chronograph numbers from June 18, 2022, temperature 86 degrees, 760,768,767,761,760 average 763.2. IME/IMO it is reverse temperature sensitive. Load is near maximum, please follow all safe reloading practices. Just my .02, LeonCarr
  3. I am in the DFW area and load in the garage. I also run a dehumidifier 24 hours a day. In the summer I empty about 2 gallons of water out of it every day. I don't know if it makes a difference as far as powder and primers go ( I have had no reliability or consistency issues), but it makes me feel good running a dehumidifier. Out in Odessa you can run a "Swamp Cooler" in your garage and still have less humidity than I do in DFW. I miss living in West Texas . Just my .02, LeonCarr

    Cyclists

Yeah, they want all of the respect of someone driving an automobile, but they don't want to follow the traffic laws. I don't think I have ever seen a "cyclist" stop at a stop sign. Just my .02, LeonCarr
  5. The load data is from the Hornady book and they use a 5 inch barrel. I am using the stock 4.6 inch barrel. The primary purpose is for a up close deer/hog load. I usually hunt with T/C Contenders, so I have a strong working knowledge of the accuracy necessary . I have a friend who has shot deer with a .45 handload similar to mine, and inside of 50 yards with good shot placement it is DRT and about 80% of the time an exit hole. Thanks for all the replys, LeonCarr
  6. Yep about ten feet from the muzzle, so I don't think I was chronoing the muzzle blast or anything like that . It is just amazing and a little scary I am getting +P numbers from what is considered a non +P level load. Thanks for your reply, LeonCarr
  7. Hey Folks, Working up a "walking around in the woods" load for the G21SF. After starting with 6.0 grains of WSF with a 230 XTP, in Winchester brass with Remington primers, and having lots of sooty cases and unburned powder in the barrel, I worked up to 6.4 grains of WSF, a tenth of a grain below maximum. The gun runs like a top, shoots five rounds in one hole at 50 feet, and has about the same felt recoil as WWB. The question is with the chrono results: 975 946 947 949 951 Average 953.6 fps, when most data shows around 850 fps for that powder charge. The cases show no flattened primers or "Glock Bulge", ejection is consistent with WWB, and the load is consistent and accurate. Is this normal with WSF, giving high velocities at what appear to be normal pressures? Thanks in advance, LeonCarr
  8. I have a buddy that loads his .45 with a 230 XTP, a max load of AA#7, and averages 940 fps. What power factor is that? Just my .02, LeonCarr
  9. Once upon a time I loaded some GI level .45s using 230 Zero FMJ with 6.5 grains of Old Unique. Kinda old school but very accurate and not too smoky. Average velocity was 860 fps. Military specs for the .45 ACP are 855 fps +/- 30 fps, so I figured the velocity was about right. The next weekend I shot these 197 power factor loads at a USPSA match. Not a single popper or plate failed to fall, and the clang was super loud. I had one guy ask me if I was shooting a .460 Rowland .
  10. I tore a calf muscle during a match, and it hurt like hell. Started the stage by shooting a USPSA size steel plate, and then running into a shoot house and engaging bad guys without hitting goods guys. About halfway to the shoot house, it felt like someone hit me in the back of my right calf with a baseball bat. I asked the RO if he had kicked me while he was running behind me, and he said no. I limped through the other stages (two handgun, two rifle) and went home and wrapped it, iced it, and elevated it. The next day my leg had swollen to about twice its normal size, and I went to my doctor. It is scary when a doctor, who sees ugly medical stuff all the time, tells you your leg looks terrible. After 4 weeks in a walking boot with a wedge, it was back to normal. I echo what has been said about the importance of stretching the Achilles, and doing good stretches in general. Any ideas on how to stretch out the leg areas? Thanks in advance, LeonCarr
  11. IME WST produces about half as much smoke as W231 with less felt recoil. Good stuff. Just my .02, LeonCarr
