Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Akkid17: I've suddenly have the same problem you are experiencing a couple days ago. The gun ran great up into after I did a thorough cleaning. I was doing some loading practice and the shell in the magazine tube would hang up on the feed latch after it was released. I had to cock the shell over so it could clear the latch. Found it rather odd why it was doing this. I started diagnosing the springs and they had plenty of tension. The problem centered on the feed latch. I started doing a little trimming on the area where the base contacts. It seemed to solve the problem, but every so often a shell would still stick. I then bent the feed latch just enough so it would clear. But then it would not catch the following shell and ended up with 2 on the carrier. Its kind of a delicate balancing act. It's still not perfect yet. I'm really being careful not to trim too much. I'll probably end up buying a new latch in case I screw this one up. I too, like the Versamax for the same reasons you do and have no desire to purchase anything else.
  2. Looks like I will be purchasing the 773 holders. Even if Johnny is a nice guy its not anyway to run a business. I imagine he's selling alot of product to first time customers because if he relied on repeat business he'd be toast. If I get the replacments before the next ice age they probably go up for sale.
  3. I contacted Johnny about getting new mag holders to replace the old style because they are cracking on the bottom of the retention rails. I e-mailed Limcat around the begining of Feb., got a response saying it would be no problem and send a mailing address. 1 1/2 weeks later no package. I thought perhaps for some reason they did'nt get the address and sent it again. Week later still no package. Sent another e-mail asking if there is a problem, maybe behind in production, still no response. I can understand if there are problems but to be ignored is another thing. Has anyone had the same thing happen to them? Unfortunately I will have to go with another style of mag holder because these are virtually usless to me now. Thats too bad because I really like the Limacats.
  4. I shoot a G17 at IDPA matches in both SSP and ESP, the advantage with the Glock using the "Safe Action Trigger" is you compete in both those divisions with the pistol staring in the same condition unlike DA/SA where you start with the hammer down in SSP and up in ESP. The reliability is exceptional, the only malfunctions I had were "stovepipes" and it was usually pilot error. I purchased mine used sometime in the early 90's, it was a factory reconditioned pistol with alot of holster wear and has even more now. She may not be the prettiest but I would bet my life with her. Another advantage is that parts are relativley cheap as compared to 1911's and most can be installed yourself, its just a matter of swapping out. Now about the trigger, I know it stinks, and there are parts that can help to some effect, but if reliability is more of concern you just got to get used to it. Allen
  5. At my range its also a campground for RV's and a boat launch into the river so we get all kinds of people. We have 2 pistol, a 200 yds. rifle, 50 yds. .22, and a trap range. All ranges unless there are santioned matches going on are unsupervised, so it not uncommon to see cans, bottles and virtually anything that shatter into a million pieces left behind. I have complained to our IDPA club president who also sits on the board of directors of the main club and has brought it up at the monthly meetings only to hear the rest of them say "We can't do anything unless we catch them and revoke their club membership". Well you can't revoke something that they didn't have to begin with, for the most part these morons were either sneaking into the club or somebody is letting them in. In the last month about half of our rifle benches have been shot up. Another thing that I see often are parents shooting on the range with their little kids running around without ear or eye protection. You mention this to them and the get offended. For the most part I avoid these people like the plague which is why I practice weekday mornings.
  6. When a shooter is behind cover and is performing a tactical reload, once the magazine is seated in the gun, can they retreat from cover before the magazine is stowed? Allen
