  1. I've run chrono about eight times at major matches. The worst ever saw was a 40 that did 210. It was horrible.
  2. Worth a call to Virgil at Tripp research. They do pick up plating jobs once in a while.
  3. There's a good reason to gauge check ammo. The reloading process can and will split cases. If you don't check each round, you run the risk of finding a bad one the hard way. Laziness in reloading always ends poorly.
  4. Here's how I setup a recoil spring. Aim at a target and pull the trigger twice fast. If the follow up shot is high, the recoil spring is too light. If its low the spring is too heavy. Why? If the gun returns to battery in a neutral state and the follow up shot is accurate then you can be faster. If its nose up from too light a spring or nose down from too heavy, you have t wait for the gun to settle.
  5. Unfortunately, I've been gone a while. I shot four majors at the end of last season, only to shoot the last one, the monster match in terrible pain. Full on tendinitis. Fortunately, my best friend here is an orthopedic surgeon. So I have access to excellent medical advice, as hands and elbows are his specialty. His recommendation was physical therapy. It's starting to get better but I'm not back yet. I've tried the wrist curls, I've tried the rubber bands and even considered the injection. But gripping without pain isn't quite returned. Anyone got any ideas I haven't explored?
  6. A holster won't improve your shooting. There's so much else to be perfected before worrying about shaving nothing off your draw.
  7. Faster? No. But you can make GM out of a Blade Tech and never worry about any of the holster nonsense. Honestly, they're fun to have and look cool, but for the game we play, its a waste. There are so few occasions where that 1/10 of a second is critical.
  8. A race holster is a waste of money. Trust Me... I've tried them ALL. And wasted a lot of money. Buy a blade tech and never look back.
  9. Fair enough. All I know is that I've been going to matches at Sir Walter for years and they always put on an amazing show. A level 2? Forget about it... absolutely great.
  10. As always the SWGC crew did a spectacular job! How can you beat a 9 stage match that offers excellent challenges, starts on time, and has so many RO's that they don't require any help pasting! The saturday folks had outstanding weather and the match was a pleasure to shoot. And for the folks that fussed about the scores... well... maybe next year they'll help get them up faster!
  11. Can't, David. Got a whole thing in Tampa planned around it. Love to in the future though...
  12. I have NOTHING but nickel cases. Probably 50k+ once fired speer and Win. With nearly 100k thru them, I've had one split case. One. I'm satisfied.
  13. Thanks for the great info. I'm talking to EVERYONE. I need to do this thoughtfully.
  14. Anyone happen to sell commercial insurance? I need a garage liability policy with a dealer blanket and a surety bond. Let me know... S.
  15. Heck no. 50k on the 5" and at least 15k on the 6". Both show minimal wear. I'm not very good, but my junk shoots flat and the sights are easy to track.
  16. I'm the ultra light spring guy. 10# recoil with 17# main. Both 6" and 5" run the same. I prefer a 180gr bullet from both guns.
  17. My guns are so tight that oil is too thin to stay in place and gets slung out quickly. I like a little more clingy. Motor oil works fine, but its really designed for engine temps.
  18. What I want to know is if someone knows the acceptable Machine deviation or if there's a way to calibrate the brain.
  19. I've run chrono at a bunch of majors and know the drill. CED couldn't give me ANY data or assistance in the slightest over the phone. This machine just seems to read about 50+ ft/s slow. I need a 2nd machine to confirm... but something is wrong.
  20. For years I've chronod religiously and have always wound up higher than expected at majors. I use the same CED that they do but am consistently 5 or more PF than I get at home. I don't use IR at home but typically chrono in the shade with consistent light. I've shot lots of majors and was never ever lower than expected. Alway higher. Is there a way to reset the chrono or is there a published standard deviation?
