How and when will previous match attendees be signing up for te 2013 match?

I would recommend a Baretta 391 in 12 g. I am a gal and I have one and it is soft shooting. The most important thing to do with any shotgun you get for her is to have it fit to her. The proper fit will greatly help with the recoil.

Could someone verify that there will not be the bolt action side match this year? The web site does not not much on it.

I totally agree. Get a Remington 1100 youth model in 20 and she will love it! It has a short stock and a short barrel. I started with one and it is still one of my favorite shotguns. Choate now makes all the extensions you would want for it.

Thanks for all your help. I will not go with that scope - I am glad since it is a very expensive option! I will keep working on my longer range shots.

Are other shooters having similar problems on the targets you are having trouble on? Or are you having the trouble while others are hitting the targets easily. There are specific fixes for each of these situations and neither involves new optics ;-) -- Regards, I had trouble at a couple of the long range rilfe stages at the last Raton match. There were targets in shadows that I could never get a good look at. Others had a better time than I did. I did not feel confident when I took some shots that I was lined up on the target correctly. I thought a higher magnification and more light would help me. You are saying that is not the case. That is rather discouraging because I do not have vision problems.

Find someone locally with one and try an ACOG out and see if it makes you happy (TA-11, or TA-01). IMHO, a high powered variable, even if it has a low power end is a real loser in 3 gunning compared to the fixed mag ACOG's and low powered variables, like the Simmons Pro Diamond and the Leupold CQT. -- Regards, That is what I have - a TA-01 - and I am having a hard time seeing what I need to see at longer distances.

I am considering the UP Optics SN-3 1.8 x 10x 44mm scope with the MOA scale type 1 reticle for 3 gun. I need more magnification that 4 power and more light and field of view than scopes like the Leupold 1.5 x 5, so this looks like the ideal scope. Does anybody know anything about it? Would it work for 3-gun? Thanks for your help.

Here is my 2 cents: 1) Tactical Iron Keep it. It allows a fair playing field. 2) Open Keep it but do not change anything for them. 3) Pistols On at All times Yes! 4) He Man Scopes Yes. A scope is important for those of us that do not have the vision necessary for iron sights. 5) He Man Light He Man alone should have a tested power factor. You could use the major power factors of IPSC.

I just got home and I want to thank the match organizers. As always, it was a great match with the best group of ROs and match staff you will find anywhere! Thanks for all their hard work. And thank goodness we have the NRA Whittington Center available for the match. Where else can you set up the great stages they had in the natural terrain!

I want to purchase a collapsible stock for my Bushmater AR-15. I want the stock to have a sling attachment and be of good quality. Does anyone have any recommendations? By the way, I purchased the AR15 mags that Brownells is selling, and they are working great and are of excellent quality!

I am hoping some of you experts out there can help me. I have a pretty much stock Bushmaster carbine that has been running great for 3 years with the same magazines and has now decided to give me problems. I use Thermold mags. The rounds are not making it up the ramp. They are hitting the bottom of the ramp and not feeding. When I rack it to try again, the bolt just hits the bullet harder. Do I need new springs or followers in my mags? Or is there something in the gun that has messed up?

I will echo what everyone has already said - the match was great! They made great use of the natural terrain and designed stages that were a challenge but that anyone could shoot. I really appreciate all the time and effort the staff adn ROs put into the match. Thanks!

I am starting with a Remington 700P LTR in 308, 26 inch fluted barrel. I am taking to my local gunsmith this week and am having the scope mounted (Horis Falcon), muzzle break installed, stock cut down, recoil pad installed, barrel bedded, detachable mag installed and trigger worked on. I am hoping that the recoil pad and muzzle brake will make the recoil manageable for me. I will start here and see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Just for your information, Remington just came out with a 700P LTR with a 26 inch barrell. I just received one and will be setting it up for sniper competitions. It seems really well balanced and not too heavy.

I called G.A. Precision and talked to a fellow there. He was extremely helpful and talked to me at some length on the phone. I have a lot more information about configurations and options. It seems like mroe and more folks are recommending the 260. I have a friend that has one so I am going to try it out to see what I think about it.

Wow - I am overwhelmed! I had another suggestion of a 270 Win. Based on the discussions, I have at least ruled out anything smaller than 260. And, yes, Matt, I do subscribe to your E-mails - thanks! It looks like I have a lot of learning to do before I can make a final decision. I have seen the bolt action side matches at many 3-gun competitions and they looked interesting. I also was looking into sniper competitions. I was thinking I could get one rifle that satisfied both, but now it looks like I might have been unrealistic. I was worried about weight because in the bolt action competitions they have off hand shots and I cannot hold a heavy rifle steady enough. But Matt has stated that a sniper rifle is, by default, heavy. Sigh. But this is part of the fun for me - learning as much as I can about a new discipline in shooting!

Thanks for all your input so far. What about the 243 and 260? One person mentioned the 260 but no one said anything about the 243.

I have two Remongton 1100's: a 12 and 20 gauge. They both have stopped running slugs. I have replaced the magazines springs in both of them, and cleaned them really well. They both were running slugs just fine for a number of years. In the 20, the slug comes partially out of the tube and gets stuck against the carrier. It is mostly in the tube with the base against the carrier. You have to push up on the carrier and then the slug flips out. The 12 just doesn't feed the slug at all. It has had the ports enlarged and I am using Remington reduced recoil slugs. Does anyone have other brands of reduced recoil slugs I might try? If I cannot fix these two, is there someone I could send them to for repair?

I am thinking of purchasing a bolt action rifle for use in Sniper-type and bolt action competitions. I am a gal and a little recoil sensitive. I cannot handle a very heavy gun. I would like on that has a detachable magazine for quicker reloading. What caliber and brand would you guys recommend?
