  1. Hello - Welcome!! Less that a year ago, 09/2007, I was in the same fog bank as you and your wife. Let me add to you confusion...er, choices. I joined both USPSA/IPSC and IDPA. Both are available in south central Pennsylvania. Since I'm in the Super Senior category and, needless to say, not as fast as I use to be, I prefer IDPA but both are fun. For many of us, fun is first (after Safety, of course) and I left my competitive baggage on the golf course. You have the USPSA site URL and here is the IDPA. http://www.idpa.com/ This next URL gives a comparison between IPSC and IDPA. It was a help to me. http://www.craigcentral.com/idpaipsc.asp Be safe, Have fun. SouthCentral
  2. Hey Ridgrunner I felt the same way 'bout IDPA. Found what I neeede here: https://secure1.totalink.net/targetbarn/default.asp That's Target Barn. SouthCentral
  3. I too wanted to sight in the 4 I use (if ammo get a little cheaper) (2).45, .40, 9mm I looked around the web and found the "Universal Laser Sighting System" from www.laserlyte.com Works really well for me. Guns will shoot more accurately than I can hold. Only bad is that the rod that goes down the barrel with the arbors (.22 to .50) is too long to work in a short barrel gun. One of my .45's is a Colt Defender with a 3" barrel. Check out the site. SouthCentral
  4. I have both a P229 and an SP-01C (from Angus) The Sig want back to the factory for an AEP (Action Enhancement Package)(Sig may call that something different now). Trigger pull/wt/recovery/etc is great. This can be used in SSP for IDPA and USPSA but it's Modified in IPSC. SP-01C is ESP in IDPA. Why? Because safety dictates that you may not lower the hammer into half cocked with your thumb. Must shoot it condition 1. IPSC calls it Standard, USPSA Limited or Limited 10. My P229 is 40S&W, SP-01C is 9mm. I'm using the current rule books for all 3 clubs. SouthCentral
  5. That's correct. I use an 18 round mag loaded with 10 rounds (plus 1 in the chamber) in my CZ 75 SP-01 C. I only use 11 if it makes sense with the String. This is the current IDPA rule for SSP and ESP. CDP is 8 + 1. The new 2008 USPSA is 10 in Limited 10 Division (makes sense) and Production Division. SouthCentral
  6. Olin I'm not an instructor but I'll tell you what I've found in my own efforts to track that front sight. I had/have the same problem. When I draw, I was moving the gun to my mid line while getting my support hand placed and then into full extension. That's where my problem lay. I've found that if I hold the piece in retention directly under my dominant eye and extend 9 times out of 10 I've got proper horizontal alignment. Please remember, that the solution to MY problem and may not solve yours. SouthCentral
  7. smokjunkiee USPSA, the national (US) IPSC organization has a web site www.ipsc.org There you can find a list of the guns that are accepted in Production. As I have a CZ 75 SP-01C, I've looked and CZ 75 SP-01 is listed although no letters in back to designate sub-models are listed. I'm shooting Standard to take advantage of the 18 round clip. IDPA would be ESP. You can find the specs for handguns in their new 2008 rule book, It's available at www.IDPA.com as a PDF file. SouthCentral
  8. Hello all - I'm a bit confused by USPSA matches and IPSC matches. I do know some of the differences between those and IDPA. As I am in Penn's Woods, the outdoor shoot season is winding down I'm a new member of both (?) USPSA and IPSC. I've also joined IDPA. I hope to shoot in all come Spring 2008. Any help out there on what is what with each? All responses are welcomed and appreciated. SouthCentral
  9. Hello all, I live in Hanover, PA. Just joined York ILWA #67 and USPSA/IPSC. I was advised by a Range Officer to get "some training" during the off season to get ready for 2008. Since I do shoot safely at an indoor range, I'd like to get somr "official" USPSA training. I know it's arround, I just haven't found any names, numbers or places on the web. References I did find (USPSA) have not yet responded to my email (???). Anybody with suggestions? All responses will be appreciated. SouthCentral
