Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. White flannel from a fabric store. 2 yds, at ~$6/yd, goes a long way.
  2. Croc's are good enough for IDPA. "15 yds total movement" and all...
  3. Turning down an 18" SPR profile barrel (rifle length gas) to 0.650" behind the gas block and forward to the muzzle (0.750 only at the gas block) took about 13 Oz off. Added a 15" handguard and this rifle handles great.
  4. I put them on my Mossberg 930 after discovering that the gun patterned high (w/shot) with the stock rear sight at its lowest. No problem bringing the POI down, there is a lot of adjustment. As was mentioned the set screw when tightened firmly will distort the dovetail so make sure it's whre you want it before tightening securely. I don't know about the height on the M2 but on the Mossberg it works well. Durability wise I can't say yet, only one match on it and it didn't get smacked.
  5. I used Nukes idea and just clamped some 0.01" shim stock in the Nordic clamp. I annealed it with a propane torch and bent it around a socket to get the shape. I have shot ~200 rounds through it and it doesn't budge. One tip for the loading port if you have the equipment is to use a large ball end mill. It opens up the port, takes the edges off and if you run it forward almost to the mag tube it makes a nice radius which your thumb will like. I also took Nukes advise for the sights. My gun patterned high with the stock rear sight at it's lowest but got it spot on with the fire sights. Thanks Nuke!
  6. What sight mount do you use? I have a rail mounted sight and I would like to mount it on the barrel. It's 0.650" between the comp and the gas block though so my options may be limited.
  7. Peltor Tactical Pro's. Just keep them dry!
  8. I have returned my Tactical Pro's twice for moisture intrusion. Once under warranty, the 2nd time $75.
  9. Pro Grip is OK but I switched to Firm Grip powder. Works good and not as messy. It can be purchased through a seller on Amazon.

    Glock Frames

You can find them on Gunbroker. Gen 3's are not that common but they show up.
  11. Too much vinegar will leach the zinc out of the brass causing the pink color. I have had this happen with too liberal a splash of vinegar in my washing solution but I have loaded it anyway with no consequence.
  12. They both are fine. Often the differnce is in the assurance of when they will arrive.
  13. Gunbroker. I have found some good deals on large quantities.
  14. The Heavy Ice with Taylor Freelance basepads work great for me on a 24.
  15. I don't know if dodging is the right description. It sure sounds impressive as they twang over the berms though! A shooter in our squad took one on the noggin, and then hit me in the back, but that kind of thing happens at many large ranges.
