  1. So basically shoot what you have as long as your shooting? I like that logic...I appreciate all the advice on this thread.
  2. Can a 9mm major work the comp better? Or can good .40 comp work just as well? Will the lighter faster bullet cycle the slide faster 9 (considering the limitations of Glock recoil springs)?
  3. Can anyone simplify why 9mm major (or .38 super comp) is a better load for open over .40?

    New Parts

S&J Customs http://www.glockjockey.com/ has everythingyou will ever need. I have felt a number of Glock triggers and nothing has come close to John's triggers - incredible is all I can say.
  5. going with the Hennings spring/follower kit. The bases just don't work for me. I have a tone of sand here in the south and the set screw is a pain to remove to clean the mag in between stages. Any alternatives out there?
  6. Ya - the Glock spring/dawson base combo didn't work. After a mere 4 mag loads the mags began to malfunction again. The springs lost tension and every 3-4 rounds would stand up in the mag/slide. The springs were twistered when relaxed in a weird way. I am pretty sure the entire body is shot but I have handed the package over to a guy who knows alot more than me (that isn't saying much - I really don't know much anyway). I will keep the thread informed on how we finally get this gun to run.
  7. I just got Dawson Glock pads and they fit perfectly on my .38 super witness elite gold mags. I am also using Glock springs w/ a follower that came with the mags / STI spring on my big stick. No issues so far (200 rds through each mag). Henning - you really need to make a base that comes off quick for cleaning - alot of sand here in the south.

    mag Springs

What is the differance between a S_I, Para, and glock mag springs?
  9. Will STI/SVI mag springs and base pads work on Witness elite gold .38 super comp magazines?
  10. I appreciate the help - I ended up putting them in the oven at 170 degrees for about 10 mins. then put the mags in them as they cooled. Worked like a charm.
  11. I just got some SafariLand 773-850-651-150 Mag Holders for EAA Limited .38 super mags. 3 are way tight and 1 is loose. I can get the loose one to tighten up with the screws but the tight ones don't seem to loosen up. Any idea's?
  12. Does anyone know where I ca get a set of rubber grips for my Witness Elite Gold?
  13. Will some of th M/GM out there share their traing plans? Dry & Live
  14. Where did you find the smaller USPSA targets?
  15. Look at stair tape at Lowes/Home Depot. Super durable and way more grip than Skateboard tape. It can eat up some softer hands though!!
  16. I can 20 in my arredondo basepads tight. Reloads have to be slammed in - wouldn't recommend.

    Slide racker

Slide racker that fits the dovetail. http://stores.sjcguns.com/Detail.bok?no=24
  18. Check out these knee pads http://www.arcteryx.com/product.aspx?Knee-Caps . They are by far the best knee pads I have ever used - super light, stays in place (no matter what), super cool (temp wise), and easy on / easy off. Black Diamond also has a similar pair. I just like the solid construction of the Arcteryx.
  19. No worries. I owned a Kimber TAC Pro II for years as a carry gun but really didn't shoot it a much. About 4 months ago I decided to do a 3 gun for kicks and was hooked on the sport. After 3 matches I decided that the 4" .45 single stack wasn't really working (ammo cost to much, sight radius, ect.). All your advice really helped as I handled, shot, and priced options. At the end of it, I realized that it would probable be years before I could even come close to out shooting a Glock if in fact a S_I is superior. By then - I would have alot more experience to know what my shooting style really is. All that paid for by the $ I saved on a Glock.
  20. Well, with all the feedback I went Glock. Reasons: #1 $ #2 Most people commented on crappy triggers - well I felt 3 x S & J Customs triggers and frankly they were awesome - I had no worries about triggers #3 If a Glock is harder to shoot with...then I will have to improve more (and it will cost me less) I have put about 400 rds thru a used G35 I got - John Nagel spent about 20 min on the trigger - and have to regrets.

    Open Glocks..

Nice Open G34 - who did your work?
  22. I appreciate everyones honesty and humor. What I am taking out of all this, performance wise, the trigger is the biggest differance. Any thoughts of durability, or more specifically lifecycle? 5000+ rds on a glock?
  23. Got it - seriously though - how does a tuned safe action gun compare to single action?
