  1. Speaking as one who lost both of his parents in 06, may I offer my heart felt condolences to you and your family. My Dad was also a veteran of WWII having served as a gunnery instructor and waist gunner on B17 bombers. Michael
  2. If you don't mind looking like a dork, you can purchase a little net bag, from Midway USA, that hangs on the side of the weapon and catches the brass as it is ejected. Michael
  3. I had trouble getting primers to seat properly, if at all, in S&B 45acp cases. I had a little better luck after I used a chamfering tool on the primer pocket. But, I finally set all the S&B cases aside and loaded them separately, and I was still only able to successfully load about half of them. I'll stick with Winchester or Remington cases, as I have experienced no problems with either of them. Michael
  4. I enjoy giving all you reloading veterans a chuckle, so here's another newby question. Does anyone reload 32 acp? If so, whose dies do you use? Dillion doesn't have dies for 32acp. Perhaps it is impractical to reload that particular caliber. Michael
  5. Thanks, Guys. I'll re-tumble with straight corncob to get the film off. I appreciate the info. Michael
  6. I just finished tumbling a batch of 45 ACP and a batch of 38 Spl in my new Dillion 500 tumbler. I used corncob with a couple of caps of Nu Finish and a couple of caps of Mineral Spirits. Both loads came out nice and shiny after about an hour and a half. However, I notice that there remains a slight film on them that can be removed by rubbing with a rag; a somewhat tedious task, to say the least. My questions are: A. Is is necessary to remove this film before loading? and B. If so, how? And C. Am I doing something wrong that is causing this film? Thanks, Michael
  7. Well, yesterday I received the 550B and accessories that I ordered from Brian as well as the stuff I ordered from Midway and Cabelas. Everything arrived in excellent shape. Unfortunately, I'm going to be out of town all next week and won't be able to get serious about learning to use it. Michael
  8. Well, I did it. I took the plunge and turned in my order to Brian for a new 550B and a slate of accessories. Get ready for a bunch of questions from a newby. Michael
  9. Hello Forum, I will be buying a new Dillon 550B from Brian soon and will be setting it up in my shop, which is an insulated metal building. I have a lot of questions; just don't know exactly how to phrase them. I guess my first question is: Is static electricity a problem while reloading? Being an old military man, I can still remember wearing special shoes and a static discharge wrist band while loading 20 mil rounds into the M61A1. Thanks for the help. I'll be back many times for more. Michael
