Beacon Laboratory (Texaco) developed a synthetic oil in the 60's-70's specifically for the nuclear industry. Normal oils would break down (covalent bonds) in high flux fields. The oil developed is very close (polymer-wise) to Mobil 1 and the other synthetics today. With the objectives to provide lubrication and remove carbon residue in high temperature/pressure engines, most synthetic oils do a very good job and work well in guns. IMHO - You pay for the bottle and name-brand for most oils sold in gun shops.

What? Not a fan of Chech & Chong's Santa Claus and His Old Lady? Old well, leaving Monday for warmer climes. Weatherman predicting another 4 inches of snow tomorrow. Heading South of the Equator. SureFire multigun Match
Ranger6 replied to stephen1776's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
Mark Z. Great shooting and working with you at the match. (You really burned down some of those stages.) Pete and crew put on an excellent match. Returned home late Monday evening to snow and 4 degree weather. Really makes one appreciate the Las Vegas "Summer" climate. Jim R.... -

My club is very fortunate in that we control our range and all expenses. Membership fees are $45/year and have not changed for years. We are, however, a participatory club. That means that members are expected to participate in matches and events such as range clean-up etc. Failure to meet the minimum matches results in the member having to re-establish themselves as a new member. Everyone is expected to help set-up and tear-down. Matches start after everything is "good to go". Persons not helping put things away risk shooting without match credit or score. It may sound harsh, but we are a participatory club. It is emphasized to all new members. Ranger6 "If it's on the internet, it's got to be true. Two items: At Nationals this year the stages were designed to help the TV crews cover the action at the match, hence the wire mesh versus the snow fence. Also: A "port" can be a barrel that the competitor shoot through. (That should eliminate looking through the mesh.) Ranger6 (RO Stage 20)

Yes, Practiscore!!!!!!!! Once you use it you never want to "go back". Been using it all year now. Ranger6

Saw this happen at a training session conducted for some USAF Pararescue (PJs). Ammo was mil-spec issue. One caution: Do not handle with ammo in the M4. You can put it into "full auto" and burn a magazine load. Ranger6

How much do you spend a year on shooting?
Ranger6 replied to Sandbagger123's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
Too Much! So far it has cost me $5k for landscaping, $6k for new hardwood flooring, and a new car for the wife. Otherwise not so bad. Ranger6 "If it's on the internet, it's got to be true. They can't put anything on the internet if it isn't true." A. Lincoln -
Greatest match in the country! Thanks Denise & JJ. (You guys rock.) Shot and worked the match again this year. (Got to keep on improving.) Recovering from long trip home. Left NM at 5am - arrived home at 10:30pm. Even the dog is worn out. Ranger6 What about that South American team that just found out about the match and wants to come up and shoot next month?

Dave, You surely will be missed. I've known Dave (& wife Cindy) since starting USPSA more than a decade ago. What a great guy. He devoted everything to our organization. If there is a shooting organization "up there" you will be a welcome addition. RIP. Jim Roberts....

So you think YOUR wife is gonna kill you? Please, I got you beat.

The other day I asked my wife that if I died would she re=marry. Her reply was, "That's possible", so I asked would the new husband be using my firearms. She said, "Of course not, he's left handed." Why do ducks have flat feet? From stomping out forest fires! Why do forest rangers have flat feet? From stomping out flaming ducks! Why do elephants have flat feet? From jumping out of trees, of course. Ranger6 "If it's on the internet it's go to be true. They can't put anything on the internet if it isn't true." A. Lincoln

Had a GREAT time at the match! Thanks to all. Tried to leave early (4am) on Monday to no avail. Snow, rain, sleet, and ice gave way to chaos getting through Denver. Made it all the way to Laramie, Wyoming only to find Interstate 80 closed due to 10-14 inches of snow. Spent the night there and finally got home last night. Nice, warm, and sunny today in Idaho. Go figure. Ranger6 "If it's on the internet, it's got to be true. They can't put anything on the internet if it isn't true," A. Lincoln

2011 Grip Safety
Ranger6 replied to ss+P's topic in Multi-gun Rules / Stage Design / Match Administration
Food for thought: Perhaps we should go with the NRA safety rules (3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.) I noticed that the AMU shooters were unloading (completely) their guns prior to dumping them at the last Nationals. That would eliminate a lot of "issues". All firearms would be unloaded; no dependence on a safety device that could fail. Again, just a thought. Ranger6 -
Five AMU finished Stage 6 of the USPSA Multigun in Las Vegas this afternoon. Great young men representing our military! Ranger6 RO (USPSA MG - Stage 6)
