  1. Help!!!! I have tried to unsubscribe to the Classifieds Forum by going to My Settings - Forums - Manage Watched Forums - Classifieds - Unsubscribe. My setting for the Classifieds Forum under my Manage Watched Forums menu shows "Unsubscribe", but I still getting email notifications from that forum. How do I unsubsribe??? Thanks Hank
  2. Our local club is considering going with an electronic scoring system. As far as I know the only one being used and available for USPSA shooting is the Palm system. We are reluctant to invest in a bunch of Palms given that they are not made anymore and that there may another system in the wings - although not too sure about that since the world has gone with smart phones. Anyone know of another system in the works to replace the Palm? Thanks
  3. Is you chamber clean? Are you getting rid of the Glock bulge? Is there some lubricate stuck on the outside wall of the lead bullet? Are you crimbed enough. These are just some of the areas I look to when I have that problem, expecially with brass that is reused several times. When I go to a match I take my barrel out and chamber every round. I don't trust a case guage.
  4. Thanks for all the input. I used one for the first time as an RO at the Gator Classic. There is only one club in our area using them - the others resist it like the plague. My first experience was very positive. Some folks thought we should not use them at a major match, but that is where they shine and here is why. Assume you have 200 shooters shooting 12 stages. That is equivalent to 2,400 score sheets. Now consider a very conservative 10 entries per score sheet. That takes you to 24,000 entries. If this is done by hand the ROs will have to make 24,000 individual entries and the stat people would have to input those same 24,000 entries - by hand - into EZWin. The weak point where the errors are likely to occur in any database system is human input - so with a paper system you would have 48,000 human inputs for a major match - and most likely a lot more. With the Palm system it is more likely that the correct scores are entered into the Palm since the assistant RO only need to tap the appropriate box. After the all shooters in a squad shoot the Palm person only needs to make sure there is a $ sign before all shooter's name. I too am concerned about where you go from Palm since they may not be producing more of them in the near future.
  5. Has anyone gone to Palm scoring and decided to go back to paper? What are to pros and cons. Also, what kind of backup do you use for the Palm at local versus bigger matches? Most club matches I shoot don't use the Palm. Thanks
  6. Ok, will do so. It's not an action shot but a group pic - part of the pink squad. I think Susan is in the pic.
  7. Tried to upload a pic but couldn't figure it out. Could use some help from any computer folks out there.
  8. Susan - it was great meeting you and Bobby and all the ladies in Pink. I was waiting for Reese Witherspoon to show up on your squad. I sent a note to Bobby about the awesome tuned mags you had. I enjoyed meeting so many shooters from far and wide and appreciate them making the trip. Assistant to the assistant RO - Stage 1
  9. I solved most of the problem, although I still get a few off spec. I reversed the seating stem in the seating die and used the one I normally use for SWC bullets. For some reason the falt nose jacketed bullets don't like the wider end of the stem. I guess the wide end is predominantly for round nose bullets. Murphy's Law does hold true. When in a hurry to run off a bunch of bullets that one wants to be consistent a lot of things go wrong including the decapping die coming apart etc. - but that's for another post. Thanks for the advice. I do think I now have too much bell, but at least I was able to run my loads and will fine tune the system at another time.
  10. Thanks. I forgot to mention I am using a Dillon 650. I will take a shot at checking the headstamps them as well.
  11. I am trying to make 500 rounds for the Gator Classic match. My target OAL is 1.160-1.170. I find at least a third are 1.124-1.140. I tried reversing the seating stem inside of the seating die - still the same. I even tried using the Redding Competition Seating Die with the same results. I tried tightening the shellplate thinking it may be at different heights at different times. I even cleaned the crimp die which was loaded with lube from lead bullets. I also opened the bell a little more thinking my original bell was too narrow and some of the bullets were getting hung up. I am loading 180 gr. Precision Delta FMJ 40 cal. The problem does seem to be in the bullet seating stage. That is where I just started measuring OAL. Is is possible that I am using many fired brass and some of it is more flexible than others and allowing the bullet to seat deeper. For now I may have to run off 1000 rounds to get 500. Any help is appreciated.
  12. Thanks for the advice. I will work on the extractor this weekend.
  13. I have two STI 40 cal. Edges. One has all STI parts and the other is at least semi-custom, but don' know what parts. The Edge with all STI parts throws the brass at about 4-5 O'clock assuming 12 O'clock is directly downrange. The other gun throws the brass at about 2 O'clock. While the brass thrown at about 2 O'clock is not a problem at outdoor matches it is very frustrating when practicing at indoor ranges because the brass is thrown in a more forward direction against the side partition of my bay and falls forward into the shooting area of the range. If no one else is shooting I am allowed to enter the shooting area in retrieve my brass. If other people are shooting then I say good-by to my hard earned brass. The brass also has a much deeper indentation on it from either the etractor or ejector than brass thrown from my all STI gun. Does anyone know what would be the most likely cause of this or do I just have to start replacing parts. Thanks
  14. I have two Dillon 650s and run Dillons dies in both except when I reload 40s. I use a Lee undersized decap/resizing die for 40s.
  15. When I first stated shooting a couple of years ago I had a few DQs by ADs. One was on the draw and over a berm and the other was during reloading and struggling to seat a full mag - with my finger in the trigger guard. That last one was about a year ago. Each time I stayed with my squad and helped tape, even through a Level II match - it was a long day since I DQed on my first stage. After that last DQ I pracitced gun handling everyday on the draw and reload with my finger exaggerated out of the trigger guard. In other words I practiced safe gun handling until I got it right. I have not DQed since. It was important that I DQed. It made me a safer shooter. Now I only have to work on being a better shooter.
