Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. OT, but there's one just over the border in La Grande, OR. They've shot as recently as August09 that I have results from... Contact:Jeff Roberts <jeff@beaverstate.com>
  2. It was my 3rd Nationals, L-10 in MT, SS in PASA, and L in LV. Cons: Only shooting 15 stages--they tossed stage 1 before I got there. With the "break", plus not shooting Stage 1, and catching up to the supersquad (our 8 man squad could shoot a stage faster than then they could load and make ready , it was a 2+ hour break. The vendors were awol during this time too. $10 burger and chips. Pros: Got to watch the supersquad while we were on our break. Got the story directly from L winner on why he shot his limited gun in Open, and ended up making a practice run cause the stages were practically identical (Production gun went down just before the match). $10 burger and chips were served by cute girls. So, to answer the OP, yes it's worth it if you can do it. LV helps with motivating the SO, so I hope USPSA lets this ride for a little while. October might be better though; we were lucky it was "cooler" and barely into triple digits.
  3. We shoot the 3rd Sunday of the month. Check www.ewpsa.org every once in a while for updates. And I will contact Chuck for sure for his sponsor contacts if we do an area match
  4. As the post#3 mentioned, we will be having a multigun match in October. Those of us on the new EWPSA team are getting the hang of producing monthly pistol matches now (we've been working on it since February). and we shall see how we do for our multigun/fundraiser later this year. We are doing some things to get ready like putting on a RO class to build our local pool of ROs and constructing active targets, etc. However, we did not feel ready to put on an A1 multigun when we haven't put on a local MG yet. Also, none of us have any idea how to set up a prize table. Maybe if Chuck was responsible for the prize table we could whip something up pronto
  5. Srtategy is to shoot the plates in an order that keeps either of the weights from falling off. Keep it balanced. Plate order can change based on misses, delays, etc. If you're fast enough, just walk back and forth and let it rock a little. It's a fun plate rack, but too exciting for slow shooters like me. Be there tomorrow!
  6. I just finished this book myself yesterday. I did enjoy it, especially the last quarter of the book. But potential readers who read a lot of fiction should be advised that although for a survival manual it has very high literary values, it has very low literary values with respect to general or even genre fiction. If you can get past every corny trope of boys adventure stories being refreshed practically with every page, you can get a lot out of this book. Though, I may stick to the dry "manual" versions in the future if I can get one without ending up on a "list" somewhere
  7. I sent out an email to all participants this morning 6/1/09 with information about the class. There's still room for a couple of late additions. PM me if you're interested. See ya, Kyle
  8. Have you tried Days Inn? If you can get gov rate, most of the hotels are pretty experienced with that as this is a DOE town.
  9. I would suggest you seek out a local homebrew club. Ours organizes "Megabrews" where we take over a local brewpub to make wort to share out, "Big Brews" where we pull the brewstands together and swap techniques, and other events as well as monthly meetings. Homebrew supply stores usually know which clubs are active.
  10. BTT, still a couple of slots left. This is a great opportunity you don't really want to miss.
  11. I did the hard pin, duct tape, etc, to no avail. But, it turned out there was a crack in the platform and it eventually fell into two pieces. When I replaced it, all the primers just dropped into the cup no problem. So, I'd say make sure that the part that holds the chute doesn't flex cause mine worked with that badass crack for months.
  12. Checking the results Monday Night, I noticed that Stage 10 has a dup of Stage 1. Great match, and really HARD. To keep the match running smoothly, EVERY stage was difficult or long. Whew! Organizers do a stupendous job on this match
  13. Max sent me an email saying that the class is officially on the schedule and IT WILL HAPPEN! There are at least 2 slots left, so PM me if you're interested.
  14. I was using a RM in a bushing barrel (cause it came with one), and when it broke it took the bushing lower half with it. All the parts flew downrange into the snow never to be found again, so it's hard to see what happened. The guide rod of the RM was slightly bent, so the spring probably bound up somehow. Anyway, I had a spare, but not much good without a spare bushing. Went to a regular guide rod afterwards, well tool-less anyway.
