  1. Not that good a detective either but i did stay at a holiday inn express last night!
  2. Going to need a little more than just the rig if you are shooting in Production against ME! Celebrity...where? (I did have a waitress ask for my autograph the other day, damn near choked) An excellent point on buying new stuff. I am just so scared that Dan might beat me maybe I will just shoot single stack...or maybe not... Ok what am I missing? You Elvis or something? She was probably just asking for his autograph on the receipt from the cash register..... I have been on TV a few times on the show "The First 48". Her asking me for my autograph was not flattering, TRUST ME! scary looking!

  5. Just what I needed! A legitimate excuse to buy a new gun, holster, etc! New production setup, here I come.
  6. I was all set to shoot my local match today (Miami Rifle and Pistol Club). I'm in the midst of a 4 day weekend because I worked 10 days straight and go freakin figure...I get called in for a double homicide on my day off. To top it off, I ended up working all night and was so tired when I got home that even though I had time to make it to the match, I just couldn't do it.
  7. You might know I would see this and realize I can make it the day AFTER the price goes up...story of my life.
  8. I followed Bobby's instructions, took my time and made sure the grip just slipped onto the frame without any force. It's not all that difficult a job, just takes time, patience, a good set of files, a marker or dyechem, and more patience. Once you take the time to fit the grip, you will find it is well worth the work. I wouldnt go back.
  9. "Your buddy" and I actually talked about that very thing at IN. I have been trying to figure out who to get to do the same thing to mine and Dawson goes and makes one...
  10. As a "LEO" I have to say, he's pretty much right...though Bob Vogel is a cop and he shoots pretty well. However, to the OP, if you are gonna slam our collective shooting abilities, I feel obligated to point out that you misspelled (or used the incorrect word) SHOOT in the title.
  11. Just wanted to let you all know, the ammunition I bought (which this thread helped me find) allowed the firearms examiner to conclusively match the revolver to the projectile recovered from my victim. THANKS ALL FOR YOUR HELP!!! Colin
  12. Holy crap! Never seen that before...too funny.
  13. Believe it or not, I am still waiting on a ballistics match...BUT, I'll tell you the story anyway... In Jan of this year I got a murder case wherein a "bootleg" cabbie was shot and killed during a robbery. A couple weeks later a person was arrested with a .357 revolver and he told the arresting officers he bought the gun from a guy who shot someone with it. They brought him to me and I interviewed him. He tied it all back into the case of the cab driver. I sent the gun to our crime lab for ballistic analysis as there was a projectile recovered from the autopsy. I am pretty tight with the firearms examiner and he called to let me know that of the 6 cartridges in the gun when it was recovered, 3 were Privi 158gr LRN. That particular projectile is a little unusual in that it has a concave or dished base and he was having trouble coming up with additional ammunition to test fire. He could tell the bullet was consistent between the 3 Privi cartridges and the autopsy bullet but as there is not a lot of identifying information imparted on the autopsy bullet he needs to fire a couple rounds from each cylinder to attempt to match the recovered bullet to that gun specifically. I then (with Flex's help) posted here and somebody pointed me to Widener's where I found and ordered a matching box of ammunition. My examiner has been swamped but is currently working on the testing. The good news is I found another witness and was able to get the murderer indicted a couple weeks ago. As to the show...It is pretty good TV although I am not at all comfortable seeing myself on TV. I always know when they show my reruns as people stop me on the street to mention it. Anyway, Thank you to everyone who helped! Colin
  14. Where did you get your grips anodized and how expensive was it? Thinking about doing that myself... Thanks Colin
  15. I have had 3 pairs of Rudy glasses over the years both for shooting and cycling. Just got some Genetyks a couple months ago and have tried on I dont know how many pair...NEVER seen any with any distortion that I could detect.
  16. I gotta throw my .02 in this one! I too am on call 24/365. I try not to worry about it. I just figure if they call I will go. One nice thing is my supervision is very good and no one gets mad if you can't come. That said...here's how the past several days have gone. I started nights (6pm-2am) on tuesday. At 4pm Tuesday I get called in for a baby death. (I'm a homicide detective). Work on that all night and then assist the other crew that got called in for the homicide. Go home at 2. Wednesday I go into work normal time and then get a homicide at 11pm. Work that until 8am. Then go directly to court where I stay until noon. I head home, sleep for 3 hours and go back to work. At 10:30pm Thursday I get another homicide and work that until 5:30am Friday. Head home again to try to sleep. At 9:30 fri morning they call me in again because my suspect has been arrested. I work on that whole mess straight through until 2am. I am just now starting to feel normal...
  17. Maybe not, but it's federal law...doesnt matter what they think.
