  1. Hi All, Update: Appreciate all the replies which were helpful. I finally settled on the Trinity Armory Range, as they were the only range whom replied back to me and showed genuine interest. The program they put forward is great, covers alot of activities, including full video / photography for the days events. Cheers ....
  2. Hi All, Does anyone know of some good Ranges around Houston, where a group of 6 to 10 guys can go and have some fun, shoot a variety of firearms for a Team Building Afternoon, this is a request from my CEO. This would be around April 29th 2017. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers ..... Kevin
  3. I have friends whom goto to IPSC / USPSA matches in the USA on a regular basis, and have always had to follow the procedure GM IProd has posted. Its nothing new. I know of some friends whom had the generic ones rejected before in early 2002. So some MD, simple put up a generic invitation, with a blank space for your name and you just filled it in. Which you could easily do in PDF since 2002. Especially in Asia here, you cant even get an export permit for your firearms from the Police unless you can show the invitation with your name on it. Cheers ....
  4. What grade of steel are you using for your plates, unless you are using some form of impact resistant plate such as Hardox 500, you will always get splatter. Even lead bullets can create small indentations on lesser grade plate, which then causes the projectile to hit an uneven surface and splatter more. Suggest you look at the surface of your plates to see if its deformed, if so, look at replacing the plates. Cheers ....
  5. Well to be honest the Australian Version as you put it, is the International Version, as its ALL the same Rule Book. Australia has some very competent IROA Officials. Why dont you ask this on the Australia IPSC Forum. GV is Global Village - do a google search and you will find it. Cheers ....
  6. Very interesting ... what about inexperienced/incompetent competitors how are the officials protected from them ? .... You never stated the where the match was, was it a Level III. Why dont you post this question on the GV and then give more details .... Cheers .....
  7. And also cost just as much if not more than an open gun to build. Plus the load development, at most all you have is 3.5" of barrel to work with and trying to make Major and be reliable is a time consuming effort, but not insurmountable. JoJo and Johnny Lim made good Modified guns. Cheers ....
  8. You also need to take into account Point 15, as many overlook this requirement, and have to do some metal removal from base pads. It would be best to find a box and check. Before I bought my own box, I made a one from 1/2" perspex. I had a friend build me a wooden plug to the dimensions, then glued the sides together, was cheap and easy and saved a lot of headache and we were able check quickly. Cheers ....
  9. World Shoot will be 30 Stages. 5 days x 6 stages x 1/2 day format, 72 squads x 16 competitors, Pre-Match will be larger than normal for a WS upto 600 from the usual 100. Cheers ....
  10. This particular firearm is not approved for IPSC use. Cheers ....
  11. Cha-Lee, Try installing Palemoon, its another browser based on FF, in which they have stripped out all unnecessary rubbish which FF is trying to involve too and causing problems with websites and forums since FF12. www.palemoon.org. I have been using this for 3 years with no problems, actually uses less memory, runs faster and more responsive than FF. Cheers ....
  12. I suggest you contact this person. Speaks very good english and is very involved with organising matches in IPSC Thailand. Contact Name: Jetsada Phae-Araya (Tony) Contact E-mail: tonyman@ipsc.org Cheers ....
  13. Sam, Great news and Congratulations to you and Elizabeth. Cheers ....
  14. Would be interesting to see if you vendor redrew your drawings into their software to allow for width of the cut, and how much wastage is generated. Last time I had steel cut from a 5' x 20' x 3/8" AR500 there as about 20% wastage. Cheers ....
  15. Based on what you describe No DQ in IPSC. Cheers ....
  16. Also need to remember the one of the biggest differences is in PD. Great comparison. Cheers ....
  17. I dont think this has anything to do with IPSC. IPSC has its own classification system for those whom want to know their ranking. Cheers .....
  18. Brian, When I hover over your name I see in a green box *Unsure, still!*, I believe people maybe referencing to these comments Cheers ....
  19. Flex, IPSC went through this same scernario, these is a big difference, if you decide to reduce, 1: Do you reduce on Linear Measurements or 2: Reduce on Area. This is what I worked it out to be based on the above. The attached drawing shows a comparison between the Original Classic Target, a 2/3's based on Linear Dimensions and 2/3's based on area. Drawings are done to Scale and prepared by an engineering company I do work with and I have the original *.dwg files for those whom wish to check. With the 2/3's target based on linear dimensions you end up with 44.47% of the area of the OCT. With the 2/3's target based on total area, the linear dimensions 81.4% of the OCT dimensions. So what is a 2/3's target then ? compare.pdf Cheers ....
  20. Latest Rule Book, indicates you can USE both IPSC and Mini Targets in the same CoF. This rule has been effective since Jan 01-2012. Cheers .....
  21. Learn your rules, know what can be challenged and what cant. If you are not happy on how they measure the barrel, THAT'S if they do, you can always ask for a second opinion. At the 2 World Shoots, 6 Level IV and to many to remember Level III matches, I have officiated at I have never once seen as barrel measured for length before in PD. Its always if its on the list, and you are compliant with Appendix D4. Or another suggestion is join the Australian IPSC Forum and ask directly there, you will soon get a reply.
  22. Good points. However it is what the officials will be using in NZ which makes the difference, what slant they hold it etc. Won't have any control over what they use and how they go about it. I would have thought being on the 'approved list' would also present no problem...and since there would have to be factory variations between firearms surely. Particularly in a gun which was only designed as a defensive pistol. But being "warned off" at the Nationals set a whole lot of doubts in train. I am going to try and get the importers who employ an armourer to have a look at it. Thanks to you & NOSAJ19 for also suggesting contacting Greg Moon. Really would rather avoid having to nominate to go into Standard from the outset when I get over there. Thanks for your help guys. I am not sure WHO warned you off, but explain the procedure on how they tested the barrel and with what type of measuring equipment. So the most logical thing to do is ASK, the most definitive authority would be Greg Moon for all Rules. I am very sure you are not going to get pinged, its a factory supplied firearm, as long as you havent done any modifications, i.e. fitted the barrel yourself or had the importer fit the barrel in AU, their should be no problems. If this was me, I would just still nominate for PD, I very much doubt you will have to nominate for SD.
  23. I did find reference finally to the 5" rule. It was in the FAQ's However, I still think if the gun made the list and is unmodified otherwise it should be legal. There are some countries which have a barrel length restriction, AU is one, they are not allowed to have barrels under 120mm on semi-automatic handguns and 100mm on Revolvers / Single shot handguns. So Glock / STI and other manufacturers have made longer barrels for these countries. If I remember the Glock is stamped 17A for Australia and DK for Denmark. For STI they would fit a 125mm barrel in the factory before shipping.
  24. Why dont you ask this on the GV. Seen as you are in AU, and there is a barrel length restriction in AU by law, you might have a problem, but in New Zealand for AA2013, if your gun is on the Approved IPSC List you are good to go. They ONLY way to measure the barrel length to be sure is to use a vernier caliper and measure from the breech face to the end of the barrel. If you are still unsure, check with Greg Moon AU NROI, and take it to a gunsmith in Sydney and get them to measure it correctly. Cheers ....
  25. ENOS shows blocked by all IE browsers, FF and Safari on my XP / W7 computers. Cheers ....
