  1. Do you both have the same attitude towards matches? It is something you pay for, so why should you have to do any work? Or is it a reading comprehension issue? Front Sight does pay for content.
  2. Also feel free to complain to Jake Martens about it. I'm sure he would be happy to hear from you.
  3. Have you looked at the editorial staff? They all do the magazine as a small, very small part of their main USPSA duties. Most of the articles are by USPSA members. The magazine does pay a small amount per word count and per photo for articles printed, but you won't get rich from doing it. Sure you are welcome to get on the interwebs and bitch about how much it sucks, or you could contribute, but then again we would probably bitch about whatever you contributed. So, put up or shut up?
  4. If you don't like what is in the magazine, feel free to contribute something useful, rather than disparage the efforts of the mostly VOLUNTEERS who do the work. If you don't like the stages put on by the local club, do you just stand around complaining about the crappy stages, or do you start contributing by designing or building stages? The magazine works the same way. So, bitch on the interwebs, or contribute? Over the years I've written several dozen articles for Front Sight and other gun magazines. Yes, most of them were published, a few were not, it ain't exactly rocket science.
  5. You will need to shim the barrel https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-bar-shim-pack or https://bisonarmory.com/ar-15-barrel-nut-shim-set/ I prefer the Aeroprecision shims.
  6. Both the Nelson and the Marvel will have the same issue IF the frame cut for the barrel foot is too wide. Reliability will suffer as well since the barrel may be off center to the bolt face. If the frame gap is not too big, it helps to use one of the aluminum dummy proving rounds in the chamber to help align the bolt face cutout with the chamber while tightening the guide rod. If the frame gap is big, cut some cheap feeler gauges down to size and glue the proper thicknesses to each side of either the frame or the barrel lug to center the chamber to the bolt face cutout.
  7. Their math seems to be a bit fishy. For Small Rifle primers they claim "AS LOW AS $0.07 PER ROUND ", but the lowest I could find was 100,000 primers for $0.008 per, or $8,000.00. Hmmm, no thanks!
  8. LOL! I don't even want my shoes touching the floors of some of the porta-poopers I've seen! Opened the door and just made a U-turn.
  9. I can do that until my trigger finger gets tired! Heck, I can do that with live fire for about 10 shots before the super glue breaks.
  10. Get another gunsmith. Ain't nobody got time to be sorting brass by length when you shoot the volume we do. The difference in accuracy for an open gun at IPSC distances between a .902" and at .910" chamber will be infinitesimal.
  11. I still have a bunch of old school Bullseye so I've been using it with good results in a Kahr P380. 3.2 grs Bullseye 95 gr Montana Gold JHP or FMJ either one feeds and shoots fine 0.975"
  12. Another vote for the Beretta 1301 Comp Pro. The 1301 Comp (non-Pro) is OK, but considerable work will have to be done to open up the loading port. Pros: Light weight runs everything from 1145fps loads to Prairie Storm very soft shooting shoots slugs to point of aim, very accurately cycles very fast comes with a nice hard case Cons: Price needs an extended magazine tube I personally don't like the funky stock and the handguard is not as grippy as the 1301 (non-Pro) Take it out of the box, clean and lube it, screw an extended magazine tube on it and it is ready to use in a match.
  13. Modify the cheapest part. Magazines are cheap, receivers are not.
  14. Hey, it worked with Crisco! Just add a dab of mint fragrance.
  15. Hey, it's also good for Umarex and Cybergun airsoft G Lock replicas. https://www.recovertactical.com/product/recover-tactical-20-20-stabilizer-kit-for-glock-also-umarex-cybergun/ That guarantees it a Tactical Must Have!
  16. I prefer "Chinesium" when referring to cheap Chinese materials, unless I'm referring to the material filling the gaps between logs in my log cabin.
  17. I haven't tried the Odin Zulu. The squishiest pad I've tried is the 1" thick Ace Butt Pad https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1003200952 that fits the Doublestar Ace Buttstocks. https://doublestarusa.com/ace/buttstocks.html Depending on how long your arms are, you will have to chose the correct length Buttstock. Doublestar has them in various lengths from 7.5" to 11"() https://doublestarusa.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=ARFX&product_list_limit=36 https://doublestarusa.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=m4+socom https://doublestarusa.com/ace/buttstocks.html?cat=472 https://doublestarusa.com/ace/buttstocks.html?cat=473 Since my arms are really long I really like the full length 9.9" ARFX Skeleton stock with the 1" Butt Pad.
  18. I heard they just changed their name to "Cheaper than Klondike Gold Field Dirt"
  19. Like Schultzie said, get a quality torque wrench. A Fat Wrench is NOT a quality torque wrench. A beam type or dial type torque wrench is the only way to do any type of torque survey. Break-away torque (loosening) will be very different from the actual torque value set when the bolt was fastened. We (the company I work for) buy a LOT of torque tools from this company Pro Torque Tools. They have very good prices, and excellent service. https://www.protorquetools.com/ For firearm work the CDI tools are fine, they are the same tools sold by Snap-On. They also carry a good selection of Williams sockets and driver bits. https://www.protorquetools.com/sockets/1-4-drive/bit-sockets/?_bc_fsnf=1&Feature=Set We use a lot of the Williams driver bits for the easy low torque applications, but for the higher precision work where we can't afford damaging the fastener drive surfaces, we use Wiha, plus I like the name WeeeeHaaaaaaa! https://www.wihatools.com/ https://www.wihatools.com/bits/impact-bits?is_set=892
  20. Awesome to know I'm among the 0.1%. If my finger is off the trigger, the safety is on.
  21. I've had very good results with the Warne XSkel cantilever mounts. $180.00 https://warnescopemounts.com/product/gen-2-extended-skeletonized-34mm-msr-mount-black/
  22. These are close, but not exactly 2/3 scale. https://www.evike.com/products/89879/
  23. I expect your experience with the CZ Shadow 2 platform will be similar to your 2011 experience, since you seem to be the only common denominator in the various guns. I hope you were fully transparent with the various gun issues when you sold the guns!?!? By your post count I would guess none of the guns were sold in the classifieds here?
  24. I like doing the Reverse Sear method. Rub with a little olive oil, season, 30 minutes in the oven at 275 on a baking rack, then sear in garlic butter in a cast iron skillet for about a minute per side. No expensive extra equipment needed.
  25. I think a lot of the asthma and allergies are more from city living and OCD parents who won't let their kids get out and play where they might get dirty. If kids don't get exposed to allergens early, they don't build up any resistance. I have two nieces, one from my brother, one from my sister. Both had a mild reaction to peanut butter as very young children. My sister kept feeding her daughter small amounts of peanut butter, my brother's wife went full OCD, nothing with peanuts in the house. Guess which one is deathly allergic to peanuts today. My sister later told me I had the same reaction to peanut butter when I was little and our mother kept feeding me peanut butter, mostly because it glued my mouth shut and I couldn't talk while eating it. I don't know anything about autism and micro plastics, but there are 162 words and 890 characters, including spaces in this post.
