For 100 yards and in I prefer an Aimpoint M4 for a red dot as it has the smaller 2 moa reticle and better battery life than the EOtech. It's very fast up close as it is a true 1 power scope and does just fine out to 100 yards. Beyond that I think the 1-4 variable starts to look very good and I'm trying to decide on one myself right now. I have heard very good things about the Burris XTR 1-4 and a couple of my teammates are using them with good success. I like the Nightforce 1-4 as well but for more money, you don't get terribly bright daytime illumination. Red dot...likely an eotech but you can buy a millet 1-4x for less and it is a good scope for the money

I purchased my Factory built SV 40 S&W new from Speedshooters about 2 seasons ago for about $2,500.00 delivered brand new with one mag.

I have used and very much like Atlanta Arms in 9mm and 40 S&W. Makes power factor with lower recoil than factory stuff. I have not used the 45acp Atlanta Arms myself but I know several IDPA shooters that use and like it very much. A friend and I have both used Precision Delta in our 40 S&W Sv's and while it seemed to run OK in mine his gun didn't like it very much. He had some reliability issues with it that he did not encounter with Atlanta Arms. At this point we have both gone to reloading our own and I highly recommend that route if you have the space and time. Otherwise, call Atlanta Arms arms. You'll be happy you did.

jnikoley, Some vendors still claim to have the scope caps in stock even though pg&m is out of business. I havn't had anyone mention the shift in point of impact before. I may be speaking to the wrong people about this. Again, I have never actually tried this myself. I'll do a little more research before commenting further.

I havn't purchased one yet but I understand that Progressive Machine and tool makes a cool flip up cap for the front of a TA-11. When you flip the cap up and keep both eyes open, the scope becomes more of a 1 power OEG. In other words your right eye sees only the dot, your left sees the target. The two merge together and you basically have a 1 power red dot. I havn't tried this yet but have talked with shooters that have and they say it is a viable option.

Pat rogers, EAG tactical Larry Vickers, Vickers tactical Jeff Gonzales, Trident concepts I have taken classes with all 3 and can tell you it was a great experience. Each brings their own unique experiences to the class. Very enjoyable.

Trijicon Acog TA-11 3.5 power seems to be popular with 3 gunners as well

I'm currently using Safariland 773's. I like them a bit better than the latest CR speed offering.

2005 Toyota 4-runner. about 19mpg on the highway with the 4.7 litre v-8. Not great on gas but holds 4 shooters and all of our gear in comfort.

I purchased my Dillon 550 setup about 6 months ago from Brian and I remember wanting to buy a more expensive 650 and casefeeder from him. He talked me out of it. The whole time I was thinking this guy could be making more money off of me but does not seem to want it. Brian was great to deal with and in the end he was right. I am very please with my Dillon 550.

I think the factory calls it a 4.5 pound connector because that's more like what the trigger pull actually is after installing the connector. Just a guess though. I currently run a 3.5 pound ghost rocket connector in my Glock 34 and love it. I'm not sure if I would use this part in a self defense gun but in my competition gun it works great.

I guess we are up to +4 now on the Sordins. I have had them for 3 years now and they work great. Pat Rogers from EAG tactical turned me on to these and they work great. They are low profile and durable. I had a pair of peltor Tac 6's before the Sordins that I was not very happy with.

When I purchased my 550 from Brian I was advised to mount it as close to the front edge as possible. Mine might be a 1/2 an inch away from the front edge just so the large washers I mounted under the bench top would not show. I"m not sure how much further back it could go before the handle would hit the bench top on the down stroke. I think one of the advantages is you can stand straight up when reloading. It would appear that the further you mount the press back on your bench the more you are going to be leaning over it as opposed to standing straight up in front of it. This could prove hard on your back. My 550 is mounted on the left side of my bench about 8 inches in to allow me to keep a little box to refill my bullet tray when it gets low.

I had my right shoulder operated on about 7 years ago. A bankart repair to repair shoulder instability. I had to go to rehab once a week for 2 months and after that I was good as new.

I just read that it's going to be 70 degrees and not raining or muddy at this years VA/MD sectional match.

+2 I keep an extra Glock in my bag when shooting production. I've never had to pull it out of the bag but the first time I leave it at home, that will surely be the day my primary breaks.

You guys are so lucky to have this option. I am a +6.00 in both eyes with an astigmatism (spelling) in my left eye. My eye doctor says that is a little too high to have the Lasic procedure done. I tried contact lenses for awhile but frankly I could not see as well through them as I could me regular glasses. I may try contacts again as I'm told there have been some advances in recent years.

I'll be there and looking forward to the 70 degree weather ;-)

According to Steve Andersons book, most of his drills tell you to do the drill without the timer first and then move on to doing the drill utilizing the timer. That's what i do and it seems to work out OK. He emphasizes that when using the timer only A hits count so you do have to be honest with yourself. If I am not making all "A" hits, I slow the time down until I am.

I think the rear sight blade shape is a personal preference thing. I used to shoot a full width bomar on my limited gun but on my most recent Bedell gun, Chuck from Shooters Connection suggested I cut the top corners off the rear sight blade at a 45 degree angle. I actually like it as I can see more of he target that the top corners used to obscure. The key here is that there is still a flat section at the top of the sight blade that I can align the top of the front sight width. I'm not sure if I would go with Benny's cut off the bat as he cuts alot of the blade away to get his "rabbit ear" look. Going from full sight width down to that could take alot of getting used too. I shoot Warren brand sights on my glocks but I chose the sevigney cut as I did not like the narrower cut of the Warren. Again, it's all personal thing. Hope this helps.

I agree the blue mags are on the heavy side. I really need to weight one of them compared to a loaded up 140 magazine and see if there is a difference. I too have been using Steve Andersons book and I have not been dropping mags lately at all. I do take a mag from my belt and load it "after" hitting the mag release to simulate dropping a spent mag.

Howard smith. I have 5 of his mags I got via Chuck at Shooters Connection and they are great!
