  1. The idea that everything should be bare bones basic and off the shelf available (ammo, gun, mag, holster) is a fantasy. The person who comes to their very first match will most likely have off the shelf basic gear but after that one event, there is absolutely nothing stock or what some want to refer to as off the shelf. Everything we use is made and designed to supposedly give us an edge in some form or another including reloading. Some say .40 is an dying caliber for what it was originally designed for as a defensive round and LEO issued caliber which is true. Who cares if it is dying defensive round and LEO issued caliber we are participating in a game, and to some the option to use something not off the shelf and different is what may have drawn them to that division, not everyone is into cookie cutter division with little difference between them. If you don't think the division needs major that's your opinion and good that you gave it. Just do not lecture others on how they are wrong or dumb wanting to stay with something they have invested time and money in just because you don't like it. Most limited shooters are now facing decision on what do with their custom limited guns? Current major limited guns have lost there resale value so selling to fund something else is not ideal. Buy new slide, barrel, and plate and have it fit to current frame. Cost to do this if having to pay someone is 1/3-1/2 cost new gun depending on manufacture, still cheaper than new but..... Machine slide or add plate and optic to a .40 major gun and load to minor. Again added cost to a gun. Buy new gun $4,000-$6,000 just to shoot minor. Screw what the new Kool Aid is and continue to shoot Limited as is knowing very few people will continue with it. Someone's choice to invest into limited guns and equipment was because the division appealed to them. When USPSA first announced LO it sounded like a great idea take you limited gun add an optic if you want and boom good to go. We didn't think USPSA would make LO a minor only division it should be Limited optics, everything the same as limited but added optic to cater to the new trend, rage, Kool Aid, what ever.
  2. The way things have been going with what has appeared to be hand picked AD who agree with the past and current BOD views and practices, and if not following in step were targets and removed. This creates the problems of anyone wanting to help changed or have different opinions not willing to be subjected to this kind of action and behavior.
  3. There is a lot of people that are doing the side by side comparison of the Garmin to brand XYZ on many forums and then saying this one is off by this much. The questions is how do you know which unit is correct? Is Lab Radar the benchmark? How about Magneto Speed, or Shooting Chrony, or pick your make and model. The most important thing is are you getting consistent results each and every time you use it. We all have done load workup at home and tested then go to the match and have their unit read something way different than what you thought you had.
  4. I have been happy with the Merrel Moab 2 lightweight and comfortable. I even bought the safety toe black ones for work. Men - Moab 2 8" Tactical Waterproof Boot - Boots | Merrell
  5. Not sure what club you used to shoot at, but Schultz in Muskego still shoots USPSA matches as does Winnequah in Lodi, and Ripon. There is some discussion as to if they will stay with USPSA or move to the PCSL in 2024 which is very similar to USPSA and IPSC.
  6. Not being a smart ass but what did welding up the chamber indicator provide as a improvement?
  7. Thanks. Rio Salado is part of the reason i am looking at the eastern side of Phoenix.
  8. Looking for some recommendations on 55+ parks that may be friendly to the shooting community. Reading through most of the literature of these places they all tend to look like they are not firearm friendly. Looking to retire in a couple of years and plan on going out this fall /winter to look a few. I am familiar with the area somewhat as mother and father in law spent 20 years in Glendale snow birding and we visited every year. Looking at the eastern side Mesa, Apache Junction but wide open to any suggestions.
  9. Slowing the rearward movement of the slide is only a small portion of the perceived problem you are identifying. What you suggest or think is happening that your mag spring cannot move the round up fast enough for the slide to catch and chamber it is more of a forward slide speed problem. This could be caused by a bottoming out recoil spring not allowing the slide to move far enough back and with a strong recoil spring the dwell time is to short to pick up the round. I have several compact 1911s in 9 and 45 and they all have functioned fine without making modifications or changing springs. As to adding a comp or barrel holes to decrease slide travel speed, you are trying to apply a product or feature that has never been intended nor was designed to meet that criteria. The total mass of the moving object along with a proper springs is what needs to be studied. A lightened shorty open gun slide speed is probably faster than most guns but the timing and dwell time is what makes them work not the comp or barrel holes.
  10. Thinking of adding popple holes to 9 major gun but it has a cone comp. I am sure it can be done but just wondering if anybody has done popple holes with a cone comp? If so pictures and some information on how or who did them would be appreciated.
  11. Make sure you put a dab of grease on the bottom of the locator slide where it sits in the tool head. It needs to stay put and not bounce around when the brass falls down on it. Just enough to make it stay put and not move around when the machine is operating but can float and move when a piece of brass is inserted.
  12. Winnequah in Lodi which is 1/2 hour north of Madison up the interstate has a USPSA match the third Saturday of every month. Outside in the summer and inside in the winter. We will be having our monthly match this Saturday. Registration is 8 shooting starts at 9. Come on out to participate or just to watch. Please enter the range at the south gate (2249 Lang Drive, Lodi) and follow the signs to Ranges A – G, veer left at the tee by the plinking range. http://winnequahgunclub.org/ Also go to wisconsinshooters.com it list all of the events under the calendar page and has links to the clubs. I will pm you with more info.
  13. So has anyone had problems with their PCC 9mm hitting the primers very hard and sometimes even piercing them? This is not a overpressure problem as the loads have been chrono and are 134-136 PF. Have tried factory loads and reloads and all of them show the primer being hammered very hard. What is also odd is that it is CCI SP primers that are being pierced more than the WIN SP primers. New Frontier Armory lower, their heavy bolt group, their 16" barrel and standard upper receiver CMMG LPK. First used standard buffer and spring primer problem. Then changed out to heavy 6.5 oz longer buffer. Bottoms out rearward 1/8 - 1/4 past bolt release. No change still occasional pierced primmer but very deep hard hit primers. Reduced hammer spring tension for testing purpose. Appears to lessen the heavy hit but still more than what is acceptable and still found a pierced CCI primer out of 50 rounds. So is it a case of the hammer spring to strong for SP primers or as someone else stated in a different thread the hammer is not bottoming out against the back of the bolt. I need to check that yet but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this.

  17. I bought this one and it is working out pretty good. Only thing about it is it does not zip fully open to lay the guns out only the ends open and you slide gun in and out, may be a stopping point for some, I thought it might be a hassle but so far it hasn't been a big deal. It is heavy duty and even comes with built in rain cover. http://www.cabelas.com/product/cabela-s-52-tac-gear-utv-double-gun-case/1755643.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Datv%2Bgun%2B%26x%3D10%26y%3D6%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%252BProducts&Ntt=atv+gun+

  19. Good luck with your recovery. I have had 3 back surgeries all for herniated disc. First two were 4 months apart and third was 16 years later. Major difference in those 16 years on recovery due to new procedures and technology. Hang in there you will be back shooting in no time just moving a little slower for awhile. You going to make Area 5 this year?

  21. Not sure if I am following you correctly, are you expecting a shell to be released onto the carrier when you push the bolt release? The button on the side releases the bolt on the M3K it does not release a shell. A shell is released onto the carrier when the trigger is pulled which allows the latch to move to the side and a shell is ejected onto the carrier, the shell then pushes the latch back over to retain the next shell in the mag tube.
