  1. Thank you Jim and I agree a buffer does not address this particular issue. However, I always thought that the contact points between the recoil spring guide and the barrel lugs was essential to setting the slide and barrel in the correct relative positions. If I understand your post, it’s advisable to bevel the guide to avoid all contact with the lugs? Thanks again for chipping in here.
  2. Does anyone know of any USPSA or Steel Challenge action in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina?
  3. Thanks everyone. I placed my order with Julian yesterday. Lead time is 4 months. Very pleasant and very helpful chap.
  4. I’m looking to purchase some steel to get my son started. I noticed two different designs - steel plates hung on a hook and then another mounted on a bolt and spring. Any recommendations regarding these two designs as well as preferred vendors would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Thanks Richard - makes sense to me. I have been reluctant to consider the .40 (despite its obvious popularity) mainly because of stories I keep hearing about the diffiuclties involved in reloading this particular round. Specifically, unsupported chambers and bulging cases and the resulting negative reputation this round seems to have. I realize this may be a somewhat subjective question but what is the preferred limited gun in use presently - regardless of caliber?
  6. Thanks everyone - and yes I'm new to USPSA and understand the XDM in 9mm will only get me to minor PF. Been shooting bullsye for several years and am interested in something a bit more action oriented. I'm intrigued about the advice to shoot production with the XDM before customizing. Can you elaborate why? Is it the XDM 9 in particular which you believe is not a good choice? Thanks again for helping educate a new shooter gang.
  7. Hi Gang, I am sending my XDM9 to the Springfield custom shop for some work including a magwell install. I'm a little confused over the limited division rules so I thought I could get some advice here. Reading the USPSA rules, I dont see any restrictions on the size of magwells for limited guns but before I buy into this expensive upgrade, I'd like to know if I'm missing anything. I am guessing that if there is no specific restriction on mag well size it might be that the gun must still fit in the box and that is what may require some restriction on the size of the mag well. Is that correct?? If that's correct, are there any specific magwells to stay away from or ones you would recommend?? Thanks in advance everyone Paul
  8. Newbie here - I just purchased an S&W 952-2 and was wondering if anyone out there was using it for USPSA competition. If so, how has it worked out for you?? Also, have you had any success finding a mag extenders or base pads that increase mag capacity. I really didnt buy the 952 for action shooting but after taking it out for a spin last weekend, I just cant seem to put it down! Thanks F. Paul
