RePete One of the issues you have is the rules seem to be clear, but how many people interpret the clear language is the issue. If they have the balls to contact Troy, I am sure his answer is you cannot start that way. Too many people equate the start position with the concept of faulting while shooting. Let's go the rules that apply. 2.2.1.2 states shooting boxes and fault lines define the shooting area.3.2.1 states the starting position will be specified in the WSB or it reverts to the default which is defined in 8.2.2. BTW: The solution to your problem was defined in 8.3.1. The CRO/RO should not have started the shooter unless they complied with the start position. So the WSB stated, "the starting position being ""outside the shooting area."" 10.2.1 does not apply, since it begins, "fires shots" This is not a faulting question, it is a start position question. So we go to Appx. A3 "start position". You defined clearly what the start position was. Feet outside the shooting area right? Having one in and one out is not outside the shooting area. Cut and dried!! Of course, there is not specific rule to say one in and one out is acceptable because it is not. It is like trying to define a negative.

Just shot a local match this weekend & the start position stated in the WSB only said "start outside of the shooting area". I saw a shooter with one foot fully in the shooting area & the other on the fault line with their toes touching outside of the shooting area as their start position. Shooter merely needed to slightly shift toes form outside shooting area to inside shooting area at start signal. This start position was an advantage on three close targets at the start. RO or MD could not produce a rule # against the shooter's desired start position & let him shoot. I tried consulting the USPSA rulebook for info on this topic & was unable to find anything specific about said start position. But I was able to find a good thread here on this very topic. Thank you. Good discussion & some good opinions. Maybe revisit this topic? So is the general consensus here think the WSB needs to more definitive about the actual start position? IMHO the WSB at my local match needed to be more definitive about the start position. I do not know the intentions of the stage designer. But I think the shooter complied with the WSB. My logic is if you were to fire a shot with a foot outside of the shooting area during a COF, you receive a procedural penalty for being OUTSIDE of shooting area. So if your start position is with one foot in & one foot out of shooting area you are OUTSIDE of the shooting area. As a RO I want to know the correct call/rule to deal with potential issues or questions. As a gamer I want to know so I can capitalize on any possible advantage in the future. And I am mostly definitely a gamer!

I have a LaRue SPR mount. It has steel threaded inserts in the scope rings that the allen cap screws thread into. Does anyone know if the ADM mount has the same type of steel inserts for the screws in the scope rings like the LaRue? Or does the ADM just have threaded holes in the aluminum?

Congrats on the shooting team! I wish more schools would allow or get involved with the shooting sports. I don't know much about trap, but if my sons school had any type of shooting sports program, I would be all over it. I may inquire with our school system to see if some type of shooting sport would be viable.

+1 I run the same setup. My only difference is I run a Double Alpha Race Master holster. I like it because it's small, light, very adjustable & the locking mechanism is very secure. No way for your pistol to come out when its locked. You will break the holster or pistol before it comes out while being locked. Ask me how I know. Good thing about Open is you don't need a lot of real estate on your belt. So the mags you carry usually are only needed if you have malfunctions. Good luck!

Not planning to post stages, we like to throw in a surprise or two. ....4 stages are in bays that are close together and close to parking, the other two stages can be driven to. We've got some pretty cool stuff planned, it should be a great time! Excellent! Gonna try to make it down there.

Will you be posting stages? Also whats the range layout like? Can we drive our vehicles from stage to stage or bring a golf cart? Our are all the bays close to one another? Thanks
