  1. Apologies for a sort of double post - wrong forum.

I had some serious health issues I did some soul searching and made some crazy life changes. I've more or less quit shooting to focus on saving my life ( although I haven't seemed to stop accumulating firearms)

Although I am not shooting as much, I've got a new passion and want to reach an entirely new goal and was hoping for some help getting me there. Interesting related note - in my adventures in weight loss and triathlon I've still kept Practical Shooting as a frequent read and of all the sports psychology and performance books it is just as apt to any sport as it is shooting.

I am going for a spot to race the Ironman Hawaii world championships. I am a finalist with 2 of the last 15 going

You can see and vote on the video here http://apps.facebook.com/konainspired?x=us_facebookapp_355_16

If you are inspired at all here is some specifics on helping. I know it is a bit lame, but this means a lot to come so far and do so much. You don't have to have an account or sign up to vote. No gimmicks there.

VOTE-- You can vote as often as you can now though July 18. Just click the "Vote for This" button on the lower left under the video.

SHARE on FACEBOOK -- In order to win I need this to go viral! It would be a huge help if you'd share on Facebook and encourage your friends to vote and reshare! It's easy to share, just go to the link below and then click on the "SHARE" button on the lower right under the video

TWEET -- Click the share button on the bottom right of the video. Add the hashtag #konainspired

SHARE via Email -- You can also just share the link below via email to any and all of your contacts you think might find the story inspiring

Also ... I'm trying to get as many sites & blogs to post the story as possible, so if you have any contacts at any sites or blogs that you think might be willing to post an inspirational story for their readers, I'd appreciate a shout out.

Having a daughter changed a couple things - mostly my will to live long enough to see her grow up. Check this transformation out.

  2. "I've lost almost 200lbs now and couldn't be happier and healthier."

That is unspeakably awesome!!! Good job!!!!

You're setting an excellent example for others.

Thanks, hopefully nobody moreso than my Daughter. I was very concerned about being there for her or her growing up and being like me. Hope to help more people now too with the book i've been working on.

  3. I've taken some time from competitive shooting since moving a couple years ago, and in that absense got focused on my healh. I've lost almost 200lbs now and couldn't be happier and healthier.

I got into Triathlon races and have upped the ante a bit and entered a contest for a chance to race in the World Championship Ironman Kona Hawaii, a 140.6 mile race, in the Kona Inspired contest. I've got a little video you can watch, or just click the vote button. No name/email/signup crap needed to help me out here.

I'd love a little help from the shooting community to accomplish this dream, and would be even more greatful if you took the time to share with your friends and family on facebook, twitter, or email. I am not a fan that there is a popularity contest component, but I've already put this part of myself out there I might as well go full on out and beg too.

If you are interested in a little bit more of my store, here is a summery from last year.

and, if you are interested in losing weight I've started and mostly completed a book/blog that I put online for free about how and why I did it. http://ebook.denverweightlossdoctor.net/

  4. Posted below to bump, but thanks for the votes last time and here is an update...

We made it from the list of 300 to the top 15 and now are in the running for the top 6... you can check out a video of the last three bands this past week, including mine - Dead Sea Armada - and Vote for us again..

I ran some hidden anylitcs on the last post and this forum gave us a lot a votes and helped push us in the top, so thank you so much and If make it through this round I shouldn't have beg for votes again in another 2-3 weeks.

  5. To fill my non-shooting time lately - which is sadly growing more and more with my recent bouts of seizures and such... :angry2: I've gotten a little more serious about my my band - Dead Sea Armada - and we are up for Best Band in Denver and the first round is sort of a popularity contest online voting contest joke - There a a lot bands that have never played a live show in their life, but have like 10,000 myspace "fans" to help rig the voting.

Our music - hard rock/ metal - may not be your cup o tea, but I would appreciate you taking the time to vote for us on the local radio stations site - KBPI.com -

As far as I can tell you don't have to give them a real phone number or anything if you don't want to - but they haven't emailed anyone I know with spam or anything.

If you can help me out by voting and posting in this thread I'll pick someone and send them our bands t-shirt/stickers/cd - or a few if we have enough left after the show

  6. So a local radio contest is doing a promotion looking for pregnant ladies to write something about the show/station on their bellies.

It is only open to women that are over 6 mo pregnant and they are giving away a baby room, hotel, and some other nice things..

I have a great proof of concept I whipped up here in photoshop, but I need some more clever ideas and stuff to write on her belly..

Warning.. there is a little tiny partial under-boob in this picture

I have a whole studio and production team at my disposal, I just could use some ideas.

  7. you would really have to be here to appreciate the horrific foul stench that my dog can produce. She is an English mastiff and is getting close to topping the 200 pound mark. She passes gas like a human, full on auditory and olfactory assult on the senses. To top it off her new favoret place is under the bed, which she doesn't exactly fit well. Or at all. So I can FEEL when she lets one rip too. I won't complain about the eathquake when she tries to exit her stink cave quickly becuase she finally stopped going under the kitchen table and getting it stuck on her back this running through the house with it to get it off. I have to banish her from the room tonight.

  8. I should be breathing the sweat air of higher altitudes.

The "sweat air", huh?? Whereabouts are you headed back to? I'd probably like to avoid places that smell like locker rooms in my future travels...

What a typo.whoops. Still getting use to this iPhone. Which is awesome for those that didn't know.

I have a house in Denver, but the whole front range is open as to where we will land. Hopefully near a Uspsa shooting range.

  9. I lived in Saginaw for five years. That type of thing happens all the time in Sagnasty!!

The vacuum was probably 75 cents. He could have gotten himself a crack whore for a buck fifty.

Yeah, but the vacuum sucks for an entire two minutes and doesn't look like this. crackwhore.jpg

    so advantage - vacuum

  10. The last few years have been long and hard, but this Sunday I should be breathing the sweat air of higher altitudes. Although I hate to leave my friends here in the mid west, especially those I've met shooting going home again feels so good. Even though physically moving and packing has been a huge pain I've managed with a smile.

  11. Alright, I am not Catholic but Saints seem too look out out for heathens like me anyway.

My wife came from a Catholic family and is surprisingly knowledgeable about the saints. One of the first saints I was introduced to was saint Anthony - the patron saint of lost things. My wife made me get on my knees and ask him to help once and sure enough seconds later - i found my wallet.

Fast forward 4 years to today - I am about to loose my cool looking for my magazines. We are essentially all packed up and ready to move, but I decided to shoot the IL singlestack/production shoot anyway. I knew I set the things I needed aside, but as I tried to pack my range back I couldn't find my mags. There I am digging through boxes - unpacking and repacking.

I sit down exacerbated trying to think of who to call at this late hour to borrow some 8rounders that might work in my pistol and just happen to think to myself "I wonder if Saint Anthony has a few I can borrow". With that though still floating to my conscious mind I turn my head to lay my eyes upon my brass bag which I had placed all my mags. :roflol:

  12. Reminds me of the time that I got a call at 3am from my shooting rig...apparently he got drunk and picked a fight in a 1911/2011 bar and got himself arrested. I bailed him out, but made him sit in the tank overnight to think about what he did.

Best of luck getting your rig back!

SWEET JEBUS !!! Those 1911's beat him till he was Black and Blue !

    :roflol:

    I crack myself up.

  13. We had a pet skunk for a week or two on a pet sitting gig. It was strangely adorable, friendly, and love to cuddle with you. It was basically a cat with a dogs personality. They are de-stinked, but have a musky oder that you know is a skunk but doesn't stink - actually it isn't bad at all. It was a riot to take out in public and was over all probably one of the best pets ever. They also "talk" this bizarre squeaking noise, it is wild when you first hear it. If you startle it, which is easy to do, it will try to spray you - it can't help the reflex.
