  1. This year at Ft Benning only 2 heavy metal shooters... I was disappointed to say the least to have come in Second! But had a great time!
  2. Shannon, Mucho fun, and kudos to you and the staff for a well run match! We ran on time, avoided the rain, had online real time updates with email pings for stage results, online results updated what seemed like every hour, well organized prize table ( one of the best run btw) and great RO staff! Stages were set with a nice mix of technical and run and gun... Looking forward to next year! Maybe a few more at USA between now and then?!!?! David Aka flg8r
  3. Some sage medical advice... "If wet is the problem, keep it dry... And if dry is the issue, keep it wet!" Use at your own risk...

  5. Sounds very dangerous. Search a thread by Alamo Shooter... Learn from his experience...I'm glad Jamie made it out without being too badly injured! Not worth the risk in my opinion, scarce powder or not.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I have a few options iron sights on the BB gun, scoped ruger 10-22 and a cmore on another 22. I stress the safety and basic marksmanship. I realize its about fun for them, but want them to develop good habits... I honestly believe pistol will be easier and less awkward, but they're still a little young for them just yet...
  7. So I am an excited father of an 8 and 6 year old boys. Their interest and maturity have grown in my sport and shooting so we have started safety and appropriate discussions regarding firearms. I have noticed that although both right hand dominant, when looking down a scope they have a tendency to view with the left eye. I have encouraged both eyes open when handling pistols, and that I think they get. I have also encouraged both eyes open on red dots on rifles and scoped rifles, but because of their size and beginner level, think they might have a hard time with scopes and irons... Do I encourage left handed rifle shooting and right handed pistol? Same for archery? What they feel natural with? Would appreciate the ideas of others.... Thanks Flg8r
  8. Heard H335 might work. Anyone with some experience?
  9. Found the 110 vmax bullets I like, but no TAC to put behind them. Any other suggestions? Thanks Flg8r
  10. My brother was shooting a match this weekend, rifle/pistol. Called to let me know that between moving from shooting positions with rifle the RO kept telling him to put his rifle's safety on. Now I haven't shot a match since Kentucky's Blue Ridge 3G, two years ago, but don't remember ever having to do that, pistol or multigun event. Is this a new trend in rules? Or just an RO or specific range request?
  11. The steel HK mags I believe allow for a longer OAL.
  12. From the video posted, the first stage, "medic bag", it is unclear if the bolt is locked back, as the camera turns away from the shooter during his movement to the second shooting position. What is clear however is that the magazine for the rifle is still in the rifle. Question, according to the posted rules, is this ok? Not trying to stir the pot, just trying to understand the rule set as it pertains to this discipline.
  13. When transitioning from rifle to pistol the shooter must perform the following actions in the order prescribed below*. Failure to comply will result in a match disqualification, as the rifle must be clear before the handgun is employed. 1) Drop the magazine loaded into the rifle 2) Cycle the action emptying the chamber 3) Engage the safety 4) Sling the rifle (When a rifle is empty it can be slung behind the shooter as long as it stays below a 90degree and points towards the ground) From the posted rule book... Wold this also apply to sling transitions? So that mag should be dropped and chamber cleared before transition to pistol.
  14. A used Meopta would be a fine choice. Clear glass, bright illumination, and easy to use reticle for the distances you quote. Seen a few the last couple of months that fit your budget in the classifieds.
  15. Better designed plates have an anti rotation baseplate. Basically a welded lip which helps prevent spinning. However, matches where that is not the case usually specify the steel must fall in which case a 90 degree turn is not a range malfunction and no reshoot. Bet bet is to try and move to change your angle on the plate, or take another shot or two and move on.
  16. What reloader are you using? What dies? Sounds like either your resizer has given up or you're expanding the mouth too much? Thanks for the suggestions. I'm reloading ona Dillon 550 with Dillon dies... most current die set...So I have a hard time believeing its because they might be worn. The poweder measure is the "old style" and I need to check to be sure it's the correct size, although I have reloaded 9mm with MG's recent;y without simila problems. I started making changes to the bell on the powder station first thinking it was a bit much, almost to the point where there was no bell. It did not solve the problem. I am reloading with mixed brass, and so I haven't paid attention to the diffreneces, but it seems to be a more universal issue. I will report back with what I find. Thanks for all the responses...
  17. Wanted o tryvsome Zero 125 gr jhp. Normally shoot MG's. Adjusting the bullet seating station on my 550, and I'm having trouble with the bullet sliding too far into the case. Any suggestions? It's so loose that when I crimp, it pushes the bullet even farther into the case. What should I adjust. Up until the switch, my reloads have been fine, even with zero RN. I don't want to start changing too much , cause I thought it would be just be a simple adjustment to the seating die... With calipers the diameter of the zero bullets is about .355 if I remember correctly. Thanks
  18. I would think that the problem with the design would be the stacking oh shells due to the rimmed design. Hard to get them to stack straight.
  19. Why show some competitors without proper safety equipment? Otherwise, nice to see the exposure... But safety should be first.
  20. Question may be slightly off topic, but can I travel to Italy, buy one, and bring it back o the U.S?
  21. Saw one at the "Show" the other day and picked it up to have a look. Great price at around 16k. First thing I noticed was the stock seemed too short. Length of pull was a little awkward for me and don't think it was adjustable. Probably would have trouble on the long range targets as it doesn't seem to be easy to rest the rifle on barricades. CQB stuff would be fun though I think. Thinking about shooting heavy this 2012 season too, but will probably stick with the M1 platform, cause I already own one! Are you gonna make Rifle match this weekend?
  22. Similar story hear too. Chalked it up to busy schedules, still had a great time at the match...would gladly sign up again if they had it at Ft. Benning again!
  23. Help me out here a little, the dates are the same correct? "OLHT" stands for open, limited, heavy, and tac optic?, to be shot the first half of the week? "ST" stands for ? Trying to purchase plane tickets now, so don't want to screw that up.... Thanks
