  1. So much for global warming...
  2. HSMITH, What type of retention is better? yoshidaex, Then how come I see the basepads on the 140mm mags that don't have the "star" retention device? Why can't these starless type of base pads be used on a 126mm mag? I guess I'm confused on the different types of basepad retention..
  3. Bought a brand new 126mm STI 40S&W mag from Brownells. After using it for the first time at a match the basepad started popping off (halfway) after about the 4th drop on the indoor concrete. I just pushed the basepad back on untill the little star thingy in the middle clicked it back into place. Is there anyway to prevent this or do I need to buy an aftermarket basepad? Thanks.
  4. Two questions on this thread: 1. If you have an S_I gun you can load out to 1.20" max overall length correct? So if you have a round loaded out to 1.21" it will not feed? Should I load out to 1.18" to be safe? (I'm currently using 3.8gr of Titegroup under a 180gr plated bullet load to a 1.12" OAL). 2. So which Clays are we talking about? It is not: -International Clays -Universal Clays -Alliant Clays So which Clays is it?????? Thanks.
  5. Didn't mean to be so hard on Ultramax bullets. I just could not get over how bad they shot. I'm sure others have better luck with them... L9X25, What is an AET style barrel? The barrel in my .40 S&W SVI INFINITY right now says SCHUEMANN ULTIMATCH on it.
  6. Shot my new to me SVI INFINITY 5" LDC gun for the first time with a bulk box of 180gr Ultramax lead roundnose I had lying around. Could not get it to group worth crap. I was worried. I then tried some cartridges I loaded up with a 180gr Carrol lead match bullet over 3.8gr of Titegroup and Winchester SP primers. HOLY CRAP WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I can put them all in the same hole from 10yds with those loads. Lesson learned: Even a $3000+ gun can’t make Ultramax shoot straight… (they should name it UltraCrap!)
  7. OK, I must be too much of a newb. Let me get this straight. So there's no advantage to removing the slide lock? I went to my first USPSA match the other day and all the Limited guys (that I talked to) removed their slide lock capability. Now I'm to understand they are doing this for no real advantage? Why does everybody do it then?
  8. What exactly does that mean when a magazine has been completely "tuned"??? What is done to it? And is that "tuning" gun independent or gun specific?
  9. Why don't you want the slide to lock back?
  10. Add .02 grains? That'd be hard to measure an amount that small with consistency, no?.
  11. Say I shoot the classifier and I get ranked as Marksman, Sharpshooter, etc.. Do they just write it on my card what I'm ranked at? How's it work? Thanks.
  12. A problem I have is my brother is not classified yet and our club only holds IDPA classifiers in January. He really wants to go with me to this match (and I'd like him to come and shoot!). I'd like to send in his entry form along with mine as soon as possible to assure a spot, but we won't know his classification until January. (The match will probably be filled by January I'd assume.) What can I do? Would they allow his early registration (to hold a spot) and we would supply his classification to them once he gets it? Or is he just out of luck...
  13. How did you order them? Through a website or their 209-874-4322 phone number? Thanks.
  14. Would it be OK for relatively new shooters (have IDPA classification) to attend this match or is it mainly for IDPA pros only? Thanks!
  15. What was wrong with the stage? Must've been a really good one if the attorneys made him change it!
  16. If you want fast and super easy sighting, buy a Simmons Red Dot Sight 42mm Tube 1x 4 MOA Dot with Integral Weaver-Style base. They are only about $40 bucks, but don't let the price fool you. They work awesome on a flattop AR-15. Holds zero and does not wander. Battery lasts and lasts. Keep both eyes open when you shoot. That huge 42mm aperature is like looking through a big picture window. When I'm running and gunning I keep both eyes open and all I see is the red dot. The scope "disappears". No reason to spend all that money on an EoTech if you're just hosing under 200yds.
  17. Any word on how much it will cost?
  18. Where was that posted initially? On the Smith & Wesson forums?
  19. How did it happen? Did the empty box reach the FFL or something? Did he insure it in case something like this happened?
  20. Have to throw in another thumbs up for the CED 8000! Great timer!
  21. I just read Jodi's comments... they made me sick...
